Pop singer D’banj’s ‘Oliver twist’ video has passed the one million views mark on video-sharing website YouTube in less than two months since its release, making it the second fastest after Psquare’s ‘Chop my money’ remix featuring Akon.
Total views stand at 1, 144, 291, as at this morning.
The build-up to the release of the video was massive; trailers and photos from the shoot were released online showing D’banj with his fellow G.O.O.D Music acts Big Sean and Pusha T, producer Mannie Fresh and former Sugarbabes singer Keisha Buchanana on set.
The video finally premiered on March 19. Directed by Sesan Ogunro, it featured a high-profiled cameo from label boss Kanye West as well as a comic display from YouTube viral king The Vujanic.
Meanwhile the Mercury Records act has announced an ‘Oliver UK Dance Competition‘ for his fans in the UK and Republic of Ireland. Top prize for the best solo performer is £500 and an exclusive pair of customized trainers, courtesy of Adidas. Top prize for best group performance is £500 and a private dance party for up to 12 people at Pineapple Studios in London.
Meanwhile ‘Oliver Twist’ remix which was officially released in the UK on May 13, made it to no 9 on the iTunes UK charts within two days of the release.
