#CODED-ish News:: Read Comments By Nigerians on Pastor Kumuyi Statements that "Christmas is Idolatrous"

The General Overseer of The Deeper Life Bible Church, Pastor W.F Kumuyi warned his church members during their annual National December Convention which held on Saturday Dec 21st, against celebrating Christmas, because according to him it is idolatrous and unscriptural.

Kumuyi said;

“We don’t celebrate Christmas. It actually came from idolatrous background. That is why you don’t hear us sing what they call Christmas carol, Never! We always say it is the December retreat. We are only gathering together because it is the holiday period and love the lord more, and rededicate ourselves more.

“When you find anybody coming in, or any leader, trying to introduce the idolatry of mystery Babylon, that they call Christmas and you want to bring all the Christmas carol saying that is the day that Jesus was born, and you don’t find that in the Acts of the Apostles or in the early church, then you don’t find that in the church either. If you don’t know that before, now you know.

Well, let's all try to respect other people's beliefs. Meanwhile, other Christian leaders have replied Kumuyi, saying Christmas is not idolatrous but biblical. Continue to read comments...

#CODED-ish News:: 34-year-old Enugu-ebonyi Bridge Collapses

The 34-year-old Ovu River Bridge, which is located on a federal highway linking Enugu and Ebonyi states, has collapsed. The bridge links Ebonyi State, through Uburu in Ohaozara Local Government Area, and Enugu State, through Agbani-Ugboka-Nara-Nkerefi in Nkanu East council.
PUNCH Metrolearnt on Wednesday that the bridge collapsed under the weight of a truck, which was plying it late at night.

Villagers at the foot of the bridge told our correspondent that the truck was carrying 900 bags of cement when the bridge caved in, as against 600 bags stipulated for heavy-duty vehicles.
President of Nkerefi Town Union, Mr. Joseph Mkpume, said before the town could decide on the action to take, the driver of the truck connived with some people and evacuated the truck and cement.

“If we, the villagers, had been smarter than the driver, we would have held him, the truck and the goods, and ensure its firm comes to fix the bridge,” said Mkpume. He said, “Our people are now stranded and no one is going to enjoy this Christmas because our movement has automatically been restricted.

“Those of them who must go to Ebonyi State for an urgent matter would now have to go out of our community, then pass by Enugu town, through Abakaliki in Ebonyi State, before getting to their destination.”

#CODED-ish News:: Six Family Members Killed In Renewed Jos Violence

There appeared to be no end to the bloodletting in Plateau State as six persons, all members of one family, were on Tuesday hacked to death in a renewed wave of sectarian violence in the state.

In the latest incident, the victims were killed in Marraraben Foron village in Barkin Ladi Local Government Area of the state.

Though the perpetrators have not been identified, our correspondent gathered that the act was carried out by some unknown gunmen suspected to be Fulani herdsmen.

It was gathered that the victims were about to retire to bed at about 10pm when the messengers of death visited them.

The incident has raised tension in the area and the city centre. Heavily armed soldiers and mobile policemen have been deployed in sensitive areas including government buildings and installations.

Immediate past chairman of the Management Committee of the Barkin Ladi Local Government, Mr. Emmanuel Loman, who confirmed the incident, described it as very unfortunate.

#CODED-ish News:: ASUU Suspends Strike, NEC To Inform Members Today

ASUU strike has officially been suspended. This is good news

The Union’s President Dr. Nasir Fagge, told journalists at the press briefing, which held at the Science Complex building of the Federal University of Technology, Bosso Campus, Minna, Niger State, that it accepted the resolutions signed between ASUU and the Federal Government on the 11th December, 2013 with the President of Nigeria Labour Congress.

“Finally, NEC resolved to suspend the strike embarked upon on 1st July 2013, with effect from Tuesday December 17th, 2013 and directs its branches to resume work forthwith”, he said.

Fagge however condemned some universities’ Vice Chancellors, who tried to sabotage the efforts of the Union.

According to him, “We condemn, without any reservation, Vice Chancellors, who made efforts to undermine and, in some cases, attempted, to break ASUU’s strike”.

Fagge said as part of its expectation, the National Executive Committee expects the government to implement fully the resolutions reached and signed with the Union.

ASUU Chairman, University of Lagos Chapter, Dr. Karo Ogbinaka told Channels Television that the union decided to suspend the strike after a marathon meeting held in Minna, Niger State capital on Monday.

A Facebook data scientist studied the HTML code of 3.7 million profiles to discover 71% of users regularly type comments and statuses before deciding not to post them

Have you ever written a comment, or Facebook status, before deciding not to post it? According to new Facebook research, 70 per cent of us do this regularly.

The study found that men are more likely to ‘self-censor’ their social network posts, compared to women, and this is especially the case if they have a lot of male friends.

More surprising, however, is the reason why the site knows this information – because it can track what you type, even if you never post it.

For the study ‘Self-censorship on Facebook’, data scientist Adam Kramer who works for the social network, and student Sauvik Das, studied the profiles of 3.7 millions users by tracking the HTML form element of each page.

This element is made up of HTML code that controls the boxes Facebook users type in to, including the status update box.

It was a Herculean task getting Taiyelolu to grant Saturday Tribune an interview because, according to her, she had already spoken at length with a popular Yoruba magazine which she claimed only used her story for economic reasons.

“Where is the assistance they promised would come my way as a result of the interview I granted them?”

Her father-in-law, Mr Raufu Gbadamosi, also was not favourably disposed to Taiyelolu granting another press interview.

He showed disapproval when he shook his head, disappeared into his room and then reappeared with a cap and just exited the house.

When she finally opened up, it turned out that nothing could be more bizarre than Taiyelolu’s story. She and her twin brother, Kehinde, grew up with their father in a flat at the Ajah area of Lagos. They led a relatively comfortable life in the house where they only depended on generator as the only source of electricity. Although their father was not engaged in any kind of work, he provided for them.

“My father was not working. He never left the house except on a few occasions at night. But if I asked for N50, 000, he gave it to me. We had no visitors and we visited nobody,” she said.

All they had to do were sleep, eat and watch home videos.

I came across this yet another interesting video that has been circulating round suggesting that at the just concluded Living Faith Shiloh Camp meeting, there have been sitings of a UFO.

Jumoke Abioye, a member of the Church, claims her son recorded an alien ship hovering over the Faith Tabernacle, which is the church building. According to her:

"Before today, my son, Jonathan, had been trying to convince me that he sees aliens. We could be in the compound, at the market, at the beach, but he would suddenly stop, his eyes eerily fixated on the air and whisper 'I see alien people'. I usually brushed this off as his being naughty until a friend of mine witnessed this and said he must have a demon in him.

We decided to attend this year's Shiloh to get his deliverance. Throughout the time he kept on with his strange behaviour, in fact it got more frequent and strange, one time he stood up during a sermon and said an alien was beside Bishop Oyedepo, telling him what to say. You could imagine the embarrassment that caused me. Another time he told me the aliens had woken him up at night and told him they were the ones who had created man, and our judgment was fast approaching."

Two r*pists were arrested by the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) in Akure the capital of Ondo State. The two men are allegedly to have r*ped a 16 year old girl in Oluwatuyi quarters in Akure the NSDC told reporters.

The rapists Wale Fadahunsi, 28, and Banji Olaseinde, 25, known as 'Obanje Babalawo Sherry' attacked the helpless lady.

#CODED-ish News:: Radar Online blasts Mariah Carey for performing in Nigeria + calls us 'the world's center of bank fraud & human trafficking'

Unbelievable. Can't believe some of the things these people write. US gossip site Radar Online yesterday scolded Mariah Carey in an article posted on their site, saying she shouldn't have accepted to do a gig in a country known for 'terror, death and fraud'. What nonsense, they can talk when the US is the number one crime capital of the world. Read the Radar Online article below...

Mariah Carey proudly posted a pic of herself in a slinky yellow dress and wrote, “Backstage in Nigeria” on Saturday. But maybe the songbird should have done some homework before agreeing to the gig?

Her show was at Access Bank’s Christmas Party which was also a farewell bash for the bank’s managing director. And while Access Bank is a reputable financial institution, should Carey have known a few basics about the African nation before taking the paycheck?

Ironically — given that she was performing for bankers — it seems Carey wasn’t aware Nigeria is well-known as the center of the world’s email financial crimes! Nigeria is even part of the name — as in “Nigerian 411 Scams.”

Nigeria is also, according to the United Nations, the hub of human trafficking as “a source, destination and transit country.

AND, just for good measure, there are mass killings going on in two Nigerian states right now, and according to Human Rights Watch, the violence is being ignored by federal authorities.

“Systemic corruption in the Nigeria Police Force” is the problem, a HRW spokesperson told CNN.

Carey isn’t the first performer who has taken a paycheck for appearing in countries known for terror, death and fraud.

According to South Africa's Deaf Federation, the sign translator who was seen by millions of people on TV translating at Nelson Mandela's Memorial Service yesterday was a fake, who was making up his own signs. SADF said the man, seen moving his hands beside world leaders as they gave their speech at FNB stadium, communicated nothing that made sense.

"The structure of his hand, facial expressions and the body movements did not follow what the speaker was saying. I was really upset and humiliated. He made up his own signs. What happened at the memorial service is truly a disgraceful thing to see. It should not happen at all. Some of the biggest contemporary Nigerian musicians and comedians will perform on December 18 in honour of the late former South African President, Nelson Mandela.

The event entitled, “The Legacy Lives… A Tribute Concert”, will showcase lead Nigerian artistes such as Dbanj, 2Face, Darey, Burna Boy, Ikechukwu, Eldee the Don and Zaina.

Others are Mo Easy, Engager, Chioma, DJ Babus, Timi Dakolo, Waje, Julius Agwu, Mike Aremu, J. Martins, Niyola, Omawunmi, Tiwa Savage and Rocksteady.

The commemorative event which will hold at the Oceanview Restaurant, Victoria Island, is being organised by Mo’ Abudu, Chief Executive Officer of a private entertainment television station, EbonyLife.

In a statement made available to the News Agency of Nigeria on Tuesday in Lagos, Abudu said she was proud to be initiating the event.

“It is one of the least things we can do as Nigerians, Africans and global black citizens of the world to honour a unique, caring and very humble global character.

“Nelson Rolihlahla Mandela lives on as a beacon of hope, a true icon of inspiration and a man of extraordinary vision.

“Mandela left a great legacy of humanity that Africans and the rest of the world must strive to aspire to.

“We are indeed very proud to put this together. It is a free concert for the expensive price of liberty paid for by the selfless Madiba,” Abudu said.

#CODED-ish News:: ASUU Strike Has Lost Legitimacy As CBN Confirms Receipt Of Varsities’ N200bn- Okupe

Towards a final resolution to the face-off between the Federal Government and Academic Staff Union of Universities, ASUU, the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) has written to the Accountant-General of the Federation, confirming the execution of the N200 billion in the Revitalisation of Universities Infrastructure Account.

The confirmation was conveyed through a memo to the Accountant General, dated December 10

ASUU had insisted that it would not call off its over five months strike action if there was no official confirmation from the CBN indicating that it had received the N200 billion part-payment it requested.

A copy of the memo, signed by CBN’s Deputy Governor (Operations), Tunde Lemo, was circulated by the Senior Special Assistant to President Goodluck Jonathan on Public Affairs, Dr. Doyin Okupe yesterday.

Lemo’s memo said: “I write to confirm the execution of the following mandates by the Central Bank of Nigeria for funding of the above mentioned accounts. “I wish to further confirm that the available balance in the aforementioned account is N200, 000, 000, 000 (Two Hundred Billion Naira only)”.

Okupe, who spoke with journalists yesterday, said with the execution of the mandates, there was no reason for the strike to continue.

#CODED-ish News:: 11-Year-Old Boy Stops Traffic To Rescue Dog Hit By Car (PHOTOS)

You don't need to be big to be a big hero.

For example, 11-year-old Jean Fernandes, a brave boy from Brazil, recently risked his life to save a dog that had been hit by a car in Itajaí, according to Brazilian news site Guarda-Sol.

The injured dog remained in the roadway after the driver who allegedly struck it drove off. Jean then ran between oncoming vehicles to pick up the helpless animal and bring it to safety, Brazilian outlet Globo Rural reports.

Jean's mother, Rubia Liliana Rose, told BioBioChile that her son loves animals and will rescue ones he finds abandoned or abused.

This incident, captured by photographer Rafaela Martins, drew praise from netizens after Brazil's News Agency of Animal Rights posted the story to its Facebook page on Monday.

"This little boy is already larger than many men," commented Aline Ropelli.

The dog -- identified as Honey, or Mel in Portuguese -- is still in the care of vets at a local animal control center but is doing just fine, according to BioBioChile.

An apparition resembling Jesus Christ reportedly appeared during a 24 hour marathon praise and worship service at the Redeemed Christian Church mainland headquarters in Ebute Metta, Lagos.

A very close examination of the photograph shows an apparition above the choir band members leading the praise and worship session.

So is this true or is it a hoax? The Blackberry time stamp on the picture indicates it was taken on Sunday, 8th of December 2013 and thus this could be the real deal.

#CODED-ish News:: Wife And Her Pastor Lover Brutally Butcher Husband To Death And Set Him Ablaze In Benin

Nigerian police detectives from the Edo State Police Command have arrested and detained a housewife and her lover, a pastor, over the murder of her husband, Victor Nsongbunyo, a Deputy Manager with the Nigeria Petroleum Development (NPDC) Company, in Benin.

It was gathered that the woman and her deceased husband, a native of Cross River State, who was recently promoted to Deputy Manager in the company and was due to retire from service next year, had been having issues with the paternity of their children after he suspected the wife was having an extra marital affair with the Pastor.

It was also learnt that when he suspected that the pregnancy the wife was carrying was not from him, the deceased visited their home town to complain to his family and his in-laws. Consequently, the families resolved that a DNA test would be conducted after the wife gave birth to the child.

This arrangement, according to sources, incensed the wife, prompting her into plotting to murder her husband with her lover-Pastor. According to police sources, the deceased returned from work on Friday October 22, 2013, when the suspected killers came and killed him, and put the mutilated body into one of his old cars.

Not only did Mandela influence American Democrat Barack Hussein Obama, but he also practiced a heathen African tribal religion. Unfortunately, while Mandela did some great things for the nation of South Africa by ending apartheid, Heaven is like an exclusive club, unsaved unwelcome.
