Ex-militants from the Niger Delta, who are undergoing training in Lagos, have protested alleged neglect and provision of poor training kits by organizers of the programme. Consequently, they have demanded for better equipment.

Already, in response to their demands, the training that was initially for six months has been extended by three months. Also, a recent protest by the 148 former militants, who were initially camped in three hotels at Olodi-Apapa in Ajeromi/Ifelodun Local Government Area, has led to their relocation to hotels on Lagos Island.

It was gathered that it took the intervention of policemen from Trinity Police Station to stop what would have led to breakdown of law and order by the ex-militants, who are undergoing training at the Nigerian Institute of Oceanography and Marine Research, Victoria Island.

Speaking with Sunday Sun, they said their training was being impeded by lack of necessary tools. The grumbling former militants, who accused the programme organizers of shortchanging them, said they lacked laptops and working gear for their training.www.coded-ish.blogspot.com
