TECHNOLOGY: Samsung Galaxy Camera Landing This Week

2:08 PM

Samsung Galaxy Camera

The Samsung Galaxy Camera is launching in the UK this week and will be available to buy from the Carphone Warehouse, Phones 4U and Jessops on Thursday.

Yes, you did read that right camera retailer Jessops will be selling the device and that's because the Galaxy Camera is a fully-fledged camera that runs on the Android platform.

The Galaxy Camera has a 16 mega-pixel CMOS sensor with a 21* optical zoom and a 23mm wide-angle aperture lens, which doubles to record amazing HD video. However, things get really interesting when you learn that it runs on the Android platform.

Samsung's Galaxy Camera comes pre-loaded with Android Jelly Bean and has a 4.77 inch Super Clear Touch Display. Amazingly, the device has a quad-core 1.4 Ghz processor which enables you to edit photos, watch videos and run applications.

The Galaxy Camera supports both 3G & WiFi enabling you to do everything you can on a smartphone, but without the option to call people. That means that while your out and about shooting your snaps you can browse the web, check your emails and keep up to date with social networks.

The Galaxy Camera costs £400, but those wanting to browse using 3G will need to take out of a data tariff. We assume some operators will offer it on a monthly tariff and as soon as we hear more we'll let you know.
