#CODED-ish News:: Vice-Chancellors To Meet In FUTA

The Vice-chancellor, Federal University of Technology, Akure, Prof. Adebiyi Daramola, has said that as the Association of Vice-chancellors of Nigerian Universities gather for their 28th annual conference in the institution, they will chart a course for tertiary education in the country.

He added that at the conference next week, erudite scholars, tested professionals and administrators would seek the way forward for tertiary education in the country.

According to the host VC, the theme of the conference is The Nigerian University System and Challenges and the prospects of Globalization.

Some of the speakers expected at the event include Prof. James Momoh of Howard University, United States of America, who will give the keynote address on the theme of the conference, while Prof. Nimi Briggs, former Vice-Chancellor of the University of Port Harcourt, will speak on how to get the universities to the top ranks. Professor B.L Fetuga will address the gathering on the socio- economic dimension and the challenges of quality and globalization. Professor Femi Mimiko, Vice-Chancellor of Adekunle Ajasin University, Akungba Akoko, Ondo State, will also speak on the future of the country's universities.

The Governor of Ondo State, Dr. Olusegun Mimiko, is expected to declare the conference open on Tuesday.
