#CODED-ish News::Obasanjo, Babangida soon to join APC

8:08 AM

Imo state governor, Rochas Okorocha, yesterday gave indications that former President Olusegun Obasanjo, and former Head of State, Ibrahim Babangida would soon join the All Progressive Congress (APC).
Okorocha dropped the hint when he inaugurated the interim executive committee of APC in the South East states. He noted that Obasanjo and Babangida are strongly behind the APC.
Speaking during the event held at Ahijoku Convention Centre, Owerri, the governor said that the leaders who are impressed with the performance of the APC are waiting by the side to formerly join the party.
The governor said with the backing of notable leaders in the country the party would take leadership of the House of Representatives next week when the House reconvenes from its Christmas and New Year recess.
According to him, there is no way the presidential or vice presidential slot of the party will not be zoned to South East.
He said, "I have advised my brother, the deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Emeka Ihedioha to move and join the APC to retain his position for Ndigbo.
I have said and will continue to say that APC is the best option for Ndigbo and we must embrace it". Okorocha also slammed political leaders from Anambra state, accusing them of sabotaging the efforts of Ndigbo in achieving the age long ambition of producing the President of the nation. "Anambra is the major problem of Ndigbo.
In every election, the leaders from the state will go behind the zone and collect money and contracts from the Federal Government to sell out their brothers for their selfish purpose. But, this time we must resist them', he said.
The governor also disclosed that state, local government and ward registration would begin in every state of the federation on January 28, 2013, and urged the women and youths to form vanguards for the battle ahead in 2015.
