Rivers State police command have released 275 of the 294 suspected members of the Boko Haram sect. They were released after three days' detainment at the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) in Port Harcourt.
It was learnt that the suspects were released due to lack of evidence following the directive of the State Police Commissioner Joseph Mbu.
Briefing the press today, Deputy Commissioner of Police Sam Okaula said the remaining 19 suspects still remain detained. Apparently, they could not give any reasons as to why they had moved to Port Harcourt and were recommended for further investigation.
According to Mr. Okaula, one of the suspects, identified as Mohammed Musa, had expended ammunition hidden in a bag.
