CODED-ish News::Lagos State University, LASU, lecturers today refused to follow the Academic Staff Union of Universities, ASUU strike and commenced lectures.

A quick check of the Checks at the university’s faculties showed that some lecturers came to work in different faculties ranging from the Faculties of Social Sciences to Management Sciences and Arts.
Lecturer Olatunji Abanikanda of the Department of Zoology revealed that he just took a class with over 70 students, he said: “The lecture I just took is Bio-statistics with code Bio 303 and there are about 80 students in attendance, which I notified through the social media. “Though ASUU is on strike but we must recognise that I am first of all, an academic before becoming an ASUU member.
The lecturer continued and said: “I hate strike because it disrupts even my personal advancement and I cannot watch myself waste away.’’ “Some lecturers in the Faculty of Management Sciences and Social Sciences, had also started lectures,” he said.
Union leader Adekunle Idris has however said that the lecturers who came back to work are working against the union, and that majority of lecturers are striking.
He said:  “If you go round the campus, you will see that activities are still grounded because the generality of the union are still on strike,”.
This strike began on 20th may 2014.
