Retired Pilot Blames Dana Crash On Crew Negligence

Captain Tito Omaghomi, a retired pilot with defunct Nigerian Airways and National President of Concerned Aviation Professionals, CAP, on Thursday blamed the ill-fated Dana aircraft crash on June 3, in Iju-Ishaga, Lagos, on the crew members.

Omaghomi told a Lagos coroner investigating the cause of the death of victims aboard the ill-fated airline that the negligence of the flight crew, who he said did not adhere to required emergency guidelines led to the loss.
Omaghomi, who is also addressed as ‘Captain Tito’ said his opinion on the preliminary report of the Accident Investigation Bureau, AIB, was that the pilot and his crew failed to adhere to necessary checklists to prevent the crash.

Customer Attacks Call Girl With Acid
The victim was bathed with acid on August 7, and, according to the PPRO, she is recuperating at the Orthopaedic Hospital, Enugu.
Amaraizu said the victim, who was identified as a commercial sex worker, was reportedly hanging out around Artisan Market, Independence Layout, Enugu.
He said that the incident occurred along Ozubulu Street, Independence Layout, and was carried out by an unidentified man who used to patronise her.

They forced their way through the padlocked protector and gave the staff the beating of their life.
Mrs. Wilkie was brought out from where she was hiding and the man in question, a naval officer took an axe and said he would use her as a scape goat. He swung the axe at her and it hit her ankle and chopped it off. Seeing the mayhem they caused, they all left. She was immediately rushed to the hospital after the incident.

Bees Sting Man To Death In Delta
Vanguard gathered that the bulldozer operator was attacked by the bees while he was removing trees and debris on the Ogboin-Ama and Akugbene community road that was contracted to his firm for repairs.
A source said Onuabuchi was stung to death before people could come to his rescue, adding that other workers on site with him could not go near him for fear of being stung.
The source, who pleaded anonymity, said Onuabuchi was, however, rushed to Bomadi General Hospital, where he was confirmed dead by doctors.
Describing the death of Onuabuchi as shocking and painful, a management staff of the company, who also pleaded anonymity, said the company would miss the deceased. Disclosing that the deceased hailed from Anambra State and a father of four, he said Mr Onuabuchi was
aged 44.”
Attempted Robbery On Arik Air Flight: Suspect & Victim Arrested
Flight crew of Nigeria’s major carrier, Arik Air, were vindicated over constant allegations of stealing passengers money and other valuables, when a passenger was caught stealing another passenger’s N200,000 cash at the weekend.
The male passenger, who was seated in the business class cabin with his victim on flight W3 162 ABV- LOS, Abuja to Lagos, was said to have ransacked his neighbour’s bag on seat 3C and taken the N200,000, during which process he was sighted by another passenger, who immediately asked the victim to check his bag.
The other passenger (victim) quickly checked his bag and found out the sum was missing and he reported to the head of the cabin crew who alerted the captain of the flight.
Kogi Deeper Life Church Massacre: We Are Here To Finish All Of You Said Gunmen
Four more victims of the Okene church shootings were buried yesterday.
But the survivors are still struggling to free themselves from the hangover of the horror, which many of them are reliving.
The gunmen, who stormed the Deeper Life Bible Church on Monday, used torchlights to identify victims writhing in pains before shooting them to death, The Nation learnt yesterday.
“They put off the light and started shooting kakakakaa,” an eyewitness said.
Eleven of the 17 church members confirmed dead have so far been buried.
Four were buried on Tuesday, three on Wednesday and four yesterday.
Among the dead were a Physics teacher and the former Head of Department of Preliminary Studies at the Kogi State Polytechnic, Pastor Emmanuel Lambe.
The late Lambe, 57, hailed from Offa, Kwara State. He was the Pastor-in-Charge of all Deeper Life churches in Adavi Local Government Area, Kogi State.
Adults who died in the attack included Mrs Obada Alice, Mr Joshua Sule, Mrs Toyin Adurewa, Mrs Imagejor Ruth, Mrs Yusuf Grace, Mrs Isaiah Yusuf, Mrs Jimoh Martha, Mrs Ibrahim Mary, Mr James Ibrahim and Aminat Dauda.
The youths are: Precious Dayo, Ismaila Jana, Isiayaka Grace, Matthew Yusuf, Lydia Michael and a little girl, Maimunatu who came with her sister, Mrs Johnson, to the church for the first time.
A member of the church and Medical Director of Dosam Clinic and Maternity, Chaplain Colonel Samuel Nyamida, said members from three branches had congregated at the church for a Bible Study when the gunmen struck. Nyamida lost a 17 years old cousin Master Ismaila Jana.

Nigeria deserves no Olympic medal –Onigbinde
A former Coach of the Super Eagles, Adegboye Onigbinde, has said Nigeria does not deserve to win a medal in the ongoing London Olympic Games.
Onigbinde, who spoke with our correspondent in a telephone interview, on Thursday, said the country did not prepare for the games.
He said winning a medal at the Olympics takes 12 years of adequate preparation and that the Team Nigeria's preparation was not enough to produce winners in a competition like the Olympics, where only the best compete. The FIFA tactician added that he was not disappointed at the dismal showing of the Nigerian contingent to the Olympics.
He said, "Look at the William sisters; do you know how many years it took their father to take them to that height?"

It was confirmed from the mobile police men at the scene and some villagers looking down into the water that the bus which was over-speeding ran into a slippery grass beside the high-way and rode straight into the water.
The details of this accident is sketchy because the police men at the scene could not identify the bus which was already fully immersed into the water. All I saw (CODED-ish correspondent) as I viewed from inside a car, was just the bumper of the bus which was floating.
As at the time of filing this report, no passenger had been rescued.

Prostitute Flees After Telling Regular Client her HIV/AIDS status
A married man in Bulawayo has been arrested for defiling a prostitute in the bush. Friday Nkala was a regular client of the prostitute but on the day he refused to pay. The hooker said no sex and Nkala forced her.
After committing the crime, Nkala realized to his horror that the condom had burst and the prostitute taunted him saying she was HIV positive.
