Award winning singer Chidinma is currently in the process of denying all rumours surrounding a possible love affair with her friend, colleague and video director Clarence Peters. Their hand in hand entrance at the 2014 MAMAs in Durban
last month sparked the rumours.

CODED-ish News::Veteran Singer Ebenezer Obey Turns Professor
Evangelist Ebenezer Obey has been conferred with the honour of
Professor of Music by Olabisi Onabanjo University, Ago-Iwoye, Ogun
State.
The conferment held Monday at the Otunba Gbenga Daniel Hall, main campus of the university.
The veteran musician is expected to be a visiting artiste in the department of English and performing arts and lecture students on music.

CODED-ish News::21-year-old Student Commits Suicide After Girlfriend Jilted Him
A 21-year-old student of Maritime Academy Oron, Akwa Ibom, Effiong
Otu has taken his own life after being jilted by his girlfriend.
Ann, a family member disclosed to Vanguard that Effiong was found
hanging in his room at Diamond Hill, Calabar, shortly after he collected
a rope from neighbours. They became suspicious soon after he went
inside his room with the rope wondering what he wanted to use it for.
According to the source, when his mother Grace Otu, a nurse at the University of Calabar Teaching Hospital left the house at about 3pm on that fateful day, the young man borrowed a rope and killed himself.
“The 10th of July was the 10th anniversary of his father’s death in a car accident and after the anniversary and everyone had left the house including his mother, he went to a neighbour and borrowed a rope which he took to his room and hung himself,” said Ann.
“The neighbours became suspicious of what he was doing in his room with the rope and decided to rush there but found the door to the room locked and before they could force the door open he had died,” she said.
According to her, before he hung himself, he called one of his friends, Adu on phone requesting him to tell his girlfriend, Blessing who works with the UNICEM that she should now be happy that he has killed himself for her.
“Before his friend could rush to the house, the door had already been forced open by neighbours and Effiong’s body was hanging from the ceiling of the house”.
Ann stated that Effiong was an only son of the family and was given the late father’s name as a source of succor for the family but “he has again left us by this thoughtless action”
Effiong’s body had since been removed and deposited at the mortuary of the General Hospital, Calabar.

Ekiti APC ‘gathering evidence’ for tribunal
Despite Governor Kayode Fayemi’s acceptance of defeat in the June 21 Ekiti gubernatorial poll, TheCable understands that the state chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) is pushing for Ayo Fayose’s victory to be challenged in court. Fayemi lost the election to Fayose, the candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), by a wide margin and promptly made a concession speech ─ considered rare for a Nigerian politician. The election was generally seen to be free and fair ─ although not without complaints about the militarisation of the state. However, a state government official has said “there was something fishy about the ballot paper and the ink that needs to be challenged in court”. “We are currently gathering evidence. We have received several complaints from people about the hi-tech rigging that was perpetrated. Even though the governor has accepted defeat, that does not stop us from challenging Fayose’s victory in court if we are able to gather enough evidence to prove our case,” he said. The official said the ballot papers were designed in a way that made the thumbprints to disappear “within minutes” while “pre-programmed” votes would later appear. “In other words, all the votes that were announced by INEC were pre-programmed. That means the thumb-printing process was irrelevant. The votes were pre-allocated on the ballot papers through hi-tech manipulation,” he said, using the term “photochromic” to describe the technology allegedly used to produce the ballot papers. Photochromism, in simple language, allows for transformation of chemical spices between two forms ─ meaning what you see can change to another form in seconds. It is a technology commonly used for eyeglasses. They could be plain in one moment and dark the next after absorbing electromagnetic radiation. The official did not explain how this technology can be used to alter voting on a ballot paper but said: “A clear example of this manipulation is at former governor Segun Oni’s polling unit in Ifaki. Oni, an APC member, went there with 11 members of his family, including his wife. APC got only one vote there, while Fayose got 51.” The official, who refused to be named because a final position has not yet been taken, said Oni’s wife had to ask her husband: “Darling, didn’t you vote for APC?”

Needless to say life has improved somewhat, but as I go about trying to frame this statement, it definitely reminds me of how far in such a short time one’s life can improve. It doesn’t have to be as dramatic, but improve life can. It also should serve to demonstrate to anyone, anywhere right now toiling away in obscurity on a little project or something no one gives a flying f*** about that as long as you believe in yourself and your project then success (whatever that may mean to you) is or may be just around the corner. All you have to do is find the inner strength to stay in the game.
At this point I had toiled for 6 long years. Fast forward another 4 years and everything has changed. But then I didn’t know that. It was only pain.
