#CODED-ish News: Unilag Students Sack Leader of ‘Faculties Council’ due to Irregular Conduct
8:37 AM
The Chairman of the Council of Faculty Presidents at the University of Lagos (UNILAG), Seun Lari-Williams was stripped of the office by executives of the faculties' union earlier today due to his alleged irregular conduct during their recent protest against inflation on campus.
He was immediately replaced with the President of the Faculty of Arts, Nelson Emmanuel Fisayo. In a statement, the Council of Faculty Presidents accused Mr. Larri-William of attending a meeting with the University Management alone without the consent of other Faculty Presidents, who were at the time either negotiating prices with retailers on campus or out protesting.
The clandestine meeting, which was held as betraying the students, was said to have lasted over four hours. The statement said nothing about the outcome of that particular meeting.
The council alleged that Larri-Williams also boasted about being single-handedly responsible for the protest, as well as peddling false information with intent to deceive the public.
The Council of Faculty Presidents is a union set up by the students following Unilag’s proscription of the Students Union Government.
