The National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS) on monday in a statement issued in Kano, dissociated itself from the award bestowed on Umar Abdullahi Tata in Katsina by some persons who claimed to be members of the association.The statement jointly signed by NANS national vice president (External Affairs) Comrade Adamu Kabir Matazu and Katsina State NANS president, Comrade Umar Almu Kankia, stated that NANS condemned in strongest term the action of the alleged members. “In order to avoid erosion of our given mandate and bastardization of our noble association, we found it expedient to respond in order to set the record straight by protecting the image and integrity of NANS.
NANS award is a prestigious gesture; we cherish and value it. “
