It is not an achievement that can readily be savoured by his nearest and dearest.But Kailash Singh has as good a claim as any to the accolade of world's smelliest man - after refusing to wash for more than 37 years.

Mr Singh, 65, has not bathed or cut his 6ft-long dreadlocks since 1974, shortly after he married.Explaining his unconventional decision, Mr Singh claimed a priest guaranteed him a much-prized son and heir if he followed the advice.Despite neighbours joking the sweaty farmer would be lucky persuade his wife to have any children at all, his religious guidance clearly failed - he has seven daughters.

Mr Singh spends his days tending cows in 47C heat, yet the only 'cleansing' he does allow himself is a 'fire bath' each evening, which involves smoking marijuana, praying to the Hindu Lord Shiva and dancing around a bonfire.His long-suffering family admit they did once tried to force him into a stream.'He fought us off and ran away,' said wife Kalavati Devi, 60.

'We've tried several times since to force him to have a shower but he puts up such a fuss.'He says he'd rather die than take a bath and only a son could change his mind.

7 Things That Can Cause Low Sperm Count

Several factors can affect the quality of sperm and thereby affect the sperm count of an individual. When sperm count gets below a certain level, the individual will not be able to father a child.

These factors may include the following:

Tight Trousers and Under-Wear: It has been suggested that all these kinds of wears adversely affect sperm quality, and therefore fertility. Sperm cells are heat-sensitive, and cannot endure high temperatures.

Laptops: It is known that the Testes function most effectively at slightly cooler than the core body temperature. Placement of a laptop computer on the laps for extended use has been shown to affect the quality of sperm.

Hot Tubs: Frequent use of hot tubs may lower sperm counts. This is attributed to the negative effect of heat on sperm production.

Drugs: Some medications have negative impact on sperm quality as side effect. Some of them include those for treating depression, hypertension, ulcer and cancer.

Examples include:

Sertraline – Used for treating depression (this drug may spur hormonal changes that damage sperm, making them unable to fertilize an egg)

Cimetidine – Used for treating ulcer (can wreak hormonal havoc in men, slowing sperm production and causing impotence)

Spironolactone – Used for treating high blood pressure (can cut testosterone production, blunting sexual desire, lowering sperm counts, and causing erection problems)

Semen samples exposed to electromagnetic waves (as in mobile phones) showed significantly decreased sperm mobility and viability, maybe due to increased level of oxidants – reactive oxygen species (ROS) which could negatively affect the sperm.

Friday’s Blue Moon Will Be Last Until 2015

It may not happen often but will happen this week. A blue moon will light up the sky on Friday, August 31st, for the last time until 2015.


And no, the moon will not be blue.

The term blue moon describes the fourth full moon of a season. It can also refer to the second full moon in a single month. August had its first full moon on August 1st and this Friday it will have its second.

EarthSky.org reports that the modern definition of blue moon stems from a 1946 issue of Sky and Telescope Magazine when author James Hugh Pruett simplified a 1937 Maine Farmer’s Almanac definition. Pruett wrote:

“Seven times in 19 years there were — and still are — 13 full moons in a year. This gives 11 months with one full moon each and one with two. This second in a month, so I interpret it, was called Blue Moon.”

According to Live Science blue moons occur because it takes about 29.5 days for the moon to go from new to full. Since most months are longer than 29 days some months will occasionally get two full moons.

Blue moon can also refer to a rare occurrence, as in: “It only happens once in a blue moon.” If the phrase was interpreted literally, it would be: “It only happens once every 2.7 years.”

MSNBC reports that a blue moon occurs about once every 2.7 years. So they aren’t exactly rare.

The last time a blue moon occurred was on December 31st, 2009. The next will appear on July 31st, 2015.

Many athletes would never sell their medals, so putting a price on them is not possible; however, some have auctioned them off and gotten as much as several hundreds of thousands of dollars. It depends on the athlete and the auction; some have auctioned them off for charity or to pay for medical expenses.

However, in terms of raw materials, a gold medal weighs 400g total, of which 394g is sterling silver, and layered on top with 6 grams of 24 karat gold plating. They have not handed out solid gold medals since 1912.

Though the raw materials fluctuate from day to day, this makes a gold medal worth roughly about $624 in terms of materials. A silver medal is made of 93% silver and 7% copper. It's worth about $330. Bronze medals are worth the least in terms of materials, being made of mostly copper, with small amounts of zinc and tin.
