[A MUST READ ] Failure Is Feedback: How 5 Billionaires had To Fail To Succeed

Every success book, seminar or life coach out there can tell you that failure is just a stepping stone towards success. And they’re right. It is. But that simple piece of information won’t help you. Information is power only when applied in real-life situations. In this case, that means being able to view failure for what it really is: feedback.

You then simply extract different lessons from that feedback and you’re on your way to success. That sounds easier than it really is. Everybody gets caught up in the day-to-day drama of work, family or friends. It’s easy to forget the basic rules and feel like a failure after something doesn’t work out, especially in business.

Failure Beats You Up
It’s the habitual first ‘instinct’ to feel disappointed in yourself when the start-up you’ve invested so much in fails. After such a defeat, you couldn't care less about the mantra failure equals feedback that those ‘success gurus’ keep chanting. It’s understandable. But let me show you some real-life examples that will actually prove that that very mantra is true.

Here are 5 giant entrepreneurial figures (whose net worth in total comes in at around $90 billion or so) who didn't succumb in the face of early failure, but rather enjoyed and appreciated it for the lessons heeded. And they aren't afraid to admit it.

#CAMPUSNEWS: UniLag student donates relief Items to support pupils with Down Syndrome

A postgraduate student of the University of Lagos, Olawale Ayodele, on Thursday donated foodstuffs, clothes  and toiletries to children suffering from Down Syndrome at the Down Syndrome Foundation Centre in Lagos.

Ayodele, who is pursuing a Master’s degree in Educational Psychology at the university, said he embarked on the gesture to impact the lives of the less privileged children.

He said the gesture was geared towards supporting parents and the care-givers who toil day and night to rehabilitate children with special needs.

“Children suffering from Down Syndrome and other disabilities abound in the country, and little is being done by members of the society to help in the process of rehabilitating them to make them fully integrated into the larger society.

“Parents and guardians of these children have a whole lot to worry about, including getting prospects for medical assistance. My objective is to assist with these children’s upkeep as their parents and guardians toil to give them education and rehabilitate them here,” Ayodele said.

Asked how he got the funds to acquire the materials, Ayodele explained that it was from the profit made from his start-up firm, Akada, which majors in educational consulting.

#ASUU STRIKE UPDATE: ASUU’s demands will ensure quality graduates – Prof Aloysius Okolie

asuuThe Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) will sustain its ongoing strike until the Federal Government gets the money to meet its demands, an ex-official member has said.

Prof Aloysius Okolie, the immediate past chairman of the union at the University of Nigeria, Nsukka, said in Nsukka, Enugu State on Friday that the government should not allow a total collapse of tertiary education in the country.

Okolie said that no country had attained enviable height economically and technologically without adequate funds for the education sector.

He said the sector remained the engine room of national development.

“The National Assembly and some executive members are paid jumbo salaries but when it comes to education funding the government has no money.

“How will the country be able to achieve its vision 20:2020 of being among the 20 leading economies if the education sector is not well-funded,’’ he asked.

The former chairman solicited the understanding of the students and their parents saying the union’s demand was to ensure quality teaching and learning in the universities.

#CODED-ish News:: Woman Faints After Giving Birth to Tortoise and a Baby Girl in Lagos

A tradomedical practitioner in Lagos has claimed that a 20-year old woman delivered a tortoise and a baby girl in his clinic. The woman, Rasheedat Raimi, said she had carried the pregnancy for 10 months before she eventually delivered the baby girl and the tortoise at a trado-medical clinic on Mutairu Street, Off Ijegun Road, outskirts of Lagos.

She was in pains as she talked to P.M.NEWS about the strange delivery. “I came to Yakafi for prayers because of the terrible pains I was having in my stomach. Immediately I got here, prayers were offered and immediately there was a burst of water and blood under me.

The tortoise came out with the placenta and the baby came out later. I couldn't believe my eyes, but I was very weak. I was happy the pain left me. I felt relieved after the delivery. I thank God,” she told P.M.NEWS slowly. On whether she attended ante-natal clinic before the delivery, the young woman said: “I carried the pregnancy for 10 months. I did scans several times and nobody told me that I was carrying tortoise in my womb.

What they always told me was that I am alright and would deliver at the right time,” she added. “This is amazing, but true. She did not register with my clinic for ante-natal. When she came here with her people, she was in pains, we didn't know she will deliver here.
