CODED-ish News::Lagos State University, LASU, lecturers today refused to follow the Academic Staff Union of Universities, ASUU strike and commenced lectures.
A quick check of the Checks at the university’s faculties showed that
some lecturers came to work in different faculties ranging from the
Faculties of Social Sciences to Management Sciences and Arts.
Lecturer Olatunji Abanikanda of the Department of Zoology revealed that he just took a class with over 70 students, he said: “The lecture I just took is Bio-statistics with code Bio 303 and there are about 80 students in attendance, which I notified through the social media. “Though ASUU is on strike but we must recognise that I am first of all, an academic before becoming an ASUU member.
The lecturer continued and said: “I hate strike because it disrupts even my personal advancement and I cannot watch myself waste away.’’ “Some lecturers in the Faculty of Management Sciences and Social Sciences, had also started lectures,” he said.
Union leader Adekunle Idris has however said that the lecturers who came back to work are working against the union, and that majority of lecturers are striking.
He said: “If you go round the campus, you will see that activities are still grounded because the generality of the union are still on strike,”.
This strike began on 20th may 2014.

‘People my age started coming up to me and saying, “I love you because of the way you look.” That was really motivating.
‘So I learned to be proud of my curves and embrace my large boobs.
‘It’s all about loving who you are and realizing that you’re beautiful.’
Considering she is currently the reigning French Open, US Open and Olympic ladies singles champion, you would think tennis is completely consuming, but the star says she enjoys other sports too – especially dance.

‘For me it’s so important to mix it up, I ran, and then I biked,’ she told Fitness. ‘Then I did elliptical … I tried yoga.

As one of tennis’ greats, Serena has always been very fit but two serious health issues – both her own and her sister’s – has changed the way she trains and eats.

CODED-ish News::UN Sanctions Boko Haram Leader, Abubakar Shekau, Ansaru
With this sanction, Shekau and Ansaru will be banned from international travel while their assets would be frozen under the UN al Qaeda sanctions list.
Russia had placed a “technical hold” on the designations two weeks ago because it needed more time to review the listings, but diplomats said they lifted the hold on Wednesday, allowing the sanctions to come into force.
Last month, the Security Council al Qaeda Sanctions Committee blacklisted Boko Haram at the request of Nigeria, following global outrage when the group kidnapped more than 250 girls from the Government Secondary School, Chibok, Borno State, on April 14.

Pandemonium struck
in Apapa Lagos yesterday night after residents heard two loud
explosions coming from a fuel tanker farm in the area.
According to residents, the first explosion happened in front of Folawiyo Farm Tank while the second explosion happened inside.
Residents scampered for safety on hearing the explosion. Many people assumed the explosion was started by Boko Haram terrorists.
Few days ago,
Nigerians were told that terrorists were planning to bomb crowded areas
with seized fuel trucks laden with explosives.
The twin explosion was caused by petrol tankers carrying fuel.
4 people lost their lives while several others sustained serious injuries.
