Transgender pageant winner murdered in South Africa

A 23 year old South African man who won a Miss Gay pageant last year has been murdered

Thapelo Makutle (pictured above), known as Queen Bling, was found in his room with his throat slit last week Saturday. His friend told police that Thapelo had argued with two heterosexual men the previous day about his sexuality, the two men followed him home, broke down his door and killed him.

The late Makutle was active in the LGBT community in the Kuruman region, and his family and friends are angry that no one has been arrested for his murder despite the fact that the attackers description was given to police.

$10,000 cash found in Farouk Lawan’s home

The police yesterday began a hunt for the $600,000 cash allegedly collected as bribe from oil marketer, Mr Femi Otedola by the embattled former chairman of the House of Representatives had hoc committee on fuel subsidy payments, Farouk Lawan even as hope dimmed for his release from detention.

Saturday Sun gathered that the decision to keep Lawan in custody followed his refusal to disclose to his team of police interrogators led by CP Amodu Alli where the alleged bribe money is kept. His failure to disclose the whereabouts of the money was also said to have informed the decision to seach his Apo legislative quarters residence by police detectives for about two hours yesterday.

Expect to see lots of tears when the second Breaking Dawn movie premieres later this year.

Not only will diehard Twilight fans be crying, but…The stars of the vampire franchise will also need plenty of tissues.

"I think we're all going to have wear waterproof mascara," Ashley Greene, 25, told us at last night's Young Hollywood Awards. "It's been such an exciting thing and I think none of us are quite dwelling on the end yet because we still have the press tours and all that stuff. So it's still kind of exciting."

But when that final fan-packed premiere comes around, Greene predicted, "It's probably going to be a tearjerker when we all realize that it's over."

How about that last party? Jackson Rathbone recently told us, "It's going to be a wild and wacky time." The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn Part 2 is set to hit theaters Nov. 16.

NIGERIAN RAPPER ROBBED AND SHOT IN LAGOS

The attack on Nigerian musicians doesn’t seem to be slowing down, as yet another artiste - Adeniyi Ariyo better known Flex, one-half of the rap duo El-Phlex was recently shot in Lagos.

Sources told NET that Flex and his partner Sean, a friend Tizze and their manager Olaitan Matti had left Shoprite Lekki and were heading towards Koko Lounge in Yaba for a show hosted by stand-up comic Buchi.

Driving along the Magodo area on the Lagos–Ibadan expressway at about 8:30PM, they parked by the Zenith Bank building to pick up a friend, when unidentified armed men approached the vehicle.

Farouk Lawan was this morning suspended as chairman of the Federal House of Reps Committee on the probe of the management of fuel subsidy, as well chairman of the Education Committee, over the bribery alegations hanging on his neck.

He is currently in detention at the Force Headquarters, Abuja.

B R E A K I N G NEWS: Artillery fire, sporadic gunshots in Kano

Heavy artillery fire and sporadic gunshots around Naibawa and Darmunawa areas of Kano over the last couple of hours have forced residents to remain indoors.
Witnesses say the first shot was heard around 3.25am Friday, and had since then gained intensity in the affected areas. Vanguard gathered that parents who were initially unaware of the situation in the area have besieged several schools to pick up their children.
The Kona Masalchi area where two students of the Federal Government College, Kano were killed on Monday have been cordoned off, while motorists on the Kano-Zaria federal highway are been diverted.

Reps urge Jonathan to implement subsidy report

The House of Representatives this morning called on the Federal Government to march words with actions by implementing the report of its adhoc committee on Subsidy Management.
Addressing members of the House during Friday’s plenary, the Speaker, Hon. Aminu Waziri Tambuwal maintained that the reports of the adhoc committee remained valid and should be implemented to the later irrespective of bribery allegations levelled against members of the committee.
He reiterated that the House would not be cowed even as it would not condone corrupt practices from any of its members. He stated that allegations of bribery against some of the members of lower chamber will serve as impetus for the House to do more in its oversight functions.

$3m bribery scandal: Police detain Farouk Lawan

The $3million bribery scam rocking the House of Representatives’ Ad-hoc Committee on fuel subsidy payments took a new dimension yesterday when its Chairman, Hon. Farouk Lawan, was detained by the police in Abuja after interrogation.

His lawyer, Chief Lateef Fagbemi (SAN) applied for bail on self-recognition, but the request was turned down. A business mogul, who is the Chairman of Zenon Oil Plc, Mr. Femi Otedola, accused Lawan of receiving $620,000 of a $3 million bribe deal from him to assist in removing the name of his company from the probe panel report.

Enebeli Elebuwa denies being healed by Sign Fireman; the man of God calls him a liar

A video was uploaded on the net last week showing Pastor sign Fireman healing veteran actor, Enebeli Elebuwa. The veteran actor later said he was never healed by Fireman; that Fireman stage managed his healing. Enebeli said Fireman asked two people to hold his legs and move them, making it look he walked, that he never walked.
Sign Fireman did an interview recently claiming Enebeli lied against him.

I have proof that Enebeli Elebuwa told multiple lies against me. Unlike the Youtube video, our video shows him head to feet walking without two people holding his legs. Watch our video of his healing and tell me the two people holding his legs. We also have pictures as proof. The reason why he's not fully healed is because I told him about the importance of continuing to come to learn how to maintain his healing, but he didn't come.

If it is in question whether my healing ministry is real, the more that 100 or so members of Nollywood, (Lagos State Chapter of AGN) that came for thanksgiving in one of our branches towards the end of last year can tell better.

Enebeli is lying against me because he knows that it's his fault that he didn't keep his healing but he's too proud to tell the masses who know he was healed the truth.

Tunisia's ex-president sentenced to 20 years in prison

Tunisia's ex-president, Zine el Abidine Ben Ali, was today sentenced to 20 years imprisonment in absentia, by a military court in the North African country.

Ben Ali, who is exiled in Saudi Arabia, was found guilty of “inciting disorder, murder and looting,” the court said in its verdict over the deaths of four youths, shot dead in the town of Ouardanine in mid-January 2011.
Several of Ben Ali’s aides also received sentences of 5 to 10 years in jail, the official TAP news agency reported.

Drake denies any involvement in the Chris Brown night club fight

Drake, through his reps, has denied any involvement in the fight that took place at a nightclub in NYC last night that left Chris Brown with a gash on his chin...

Drake is adamant ... he is not responsible for the bloody gash on Chris Brown's face ... claiming he was simply leaving the nightclub when the brawl broke out ... but sources tell us, the fight started after Chris Brown and a rapper at Drake's table started trash talking each other.

The rapper hanging with Drake -- Meek Mill -- was screaming at Chris and Chris was giving it right back to Meek Mill. One of Chris' lieutenants was also involved in the screaming match.

D'banj set to launch his own record label; calls it DKM Records

DKM stands for D'Koko Master Records and Kayswitch is the only artiste signed to the record label for now. Heard a few more artistes will be unveiled in the coming months.

D'Koko Master Records will be officially launched in Lagos at a concert that will feature D'banj, Kayswitch and other DKM artists.

Let me introduce them. Chika (pictured above on the left) is a Nigerian gay man who lives in Germany. He married Marc Schwartz (pictured above on the right) a few years ago, but the union ended in 2010.

SULTAN BELLO HALL, UNIVERSITY OF IBADAN RETAINS INTER-HALL FOOTBALL TROPHY

The Sultan Bello Hall, University of Ibadan today beat their immediate neighbor, Kuti Hall in what could be regarded as a derby in the final of the university inter-hall football competition.
The match which was decided on penalties after full-time of play, saw Bello hall retain the trophy as the defending champion. Alexander Brown Hall, UCH, came third after beating Abdulsalam Abubakar hall in third place fight.

SAMKLEF DENIED ENTRY INTO THE UK, DEPORTED FROM HEATHROW

Music producer/artiste, Samklef’s manager has denied that the artiste, who was recently denied entry upon arrival in England, and subsequently deported, traveled to the U.K on a false claim.

The story, published recently in Encomium Weekly, alleged that the father of one said he’d lied to immigration officers about his reasons for travelling to the U.K, saying most Nigerian artistes do it.

The magazine wrote:

Encomium Magazine: We learnt you told immigration that you were on vacation and they eventually found out you came for shows without work permit. How true is it?

Samklef: Yes

However, Samklef’s manager is now denying this. In a chat with NET, he said ‘I don’t know where Encomium got their information from.’

He however admits Samklef, 26, was denied entry, and sent back from Heathrow arrival.

Samklef refused to have a conversation with us on this issue, passing the phone to his manager after initially picking it up himself.

According to the manager, ‘Samklef was once invited to the U.K for a show, but couldn’t attend due to logistics challenges on the part of the organizers. A few months later, he got another invitation and tried to travel on the visa issued him by the former company, but unknown to him, that company had reported him to immigration, accusing him of fraudulent activities, hence, he was sent back to Nigeria’.

However, he claims everything has been settled since then, and ‘all is now well’.

No word yet on when the hit-maker, who celebrated the arrival of his first baby in March, few months after his wedding to Yvonne, is planning to return.

Chris Brown and Drake fight at NYC club over Rihanna

Last night in New York, Chris Brown and Drake got into a fist fight over Rihanna, leaving Chris with a bloody gash on his chin.

According to reports, Chris and Drake both showed up at club WIP and Chris sent Drake's table a bottle of champagne. Drake allegedly sent the bottle back with a note attached that read:

"I'm f**king the love of your life. Get over it."

Chris went over to Drake's table to confront him, and before anyone could stop it, fists and bottles started flying. Five people were injured in the fight, including Chris who later Tweeted a photo of his injury, along with the message; How u party wit rich n**** that hate? Lol... Throwing bottles like girls?

An 80year-old man, Pa Amodu Alimi, graduated with Bachelor's in Sociology at Lagos State University. The octogenarian gained admission into the university in 2007, and underwent a full-time course. He was among the 22,033 others who graduated recently.

Woman attempts to kill herself & her fiancé for calling their wedding off

A 34-year old woman, Bukola Abiwa (pictured above), has been arrested by the police and arraigned before Ejigbo Magistrate’s Court, Lagos State, Southwest Nigeria, for allegedly attempting to kill herself and her fiance, Sunday Onayiga, with a knife. She is now in prison custody at Kirikiri, Lagos, for attempted murder.

She decided to kill herself and her fiancee after she was told by her fiance to pack out of their house at 3, Bassey Street, Orelope area of Egbeda, Lagos, where they have lived for over two years. The angry woman insisted that he must marry her because he promised to marry her two years ago.

Man Butchers Girlfriend; Leaves Chilling Message on Machete Used

Police found this blood-soaked machete with its chilling message along side the body of Nellie Brown-Cox (right)

A machete used by a man who butchered his girlfriend to death was left with the haunting message 'This is what cheaters get' scrawled along the length of the blade. It was found alongside the mutilated body of Nellie Brown-Cox, 42, after she was killed by Prince Hepburn, 50, in the Bahamas.

Another chilling message was scrawled onto the other side of the blade that read 'Your Next George Sawyer'.

Hepburn, believed to be Miss Brown-Cox's boyfriend, was found at the scene with slash wounds to his wrists and was arrested on suspicion of murder.

Another Building Collapses; This time in Abuja

An uncompleted story building collapsed in Apo mechanic village in Abuja this morning, leaving at least three people trapped under the rubble for a while before they were rescued and taken to the National Hospital in Abuja.

A local volunteer at the scene told a reporter that the building collapsed mostly because of the quality of materials being used to build the house.

Don't we have like an organization in Nigeria that regulates the construction of buildings? Too many buildings are collapsing these days.

Kanye tweeted a photo of a naked woman last night. A few minutes later he deleted the photo but not before some people saved a copy :-). Kim later denied that the woman in the photo was her.

It was later revealed that the woman in the photo was porn star Amia Miley.

"I'm not going to argue about whether that pic is me or not.. want proof? Look at the back dimple piercings. Kim K doesn’t have those." Amia Miley said

A Week on After Crash in Nigeria, Family Awaits Pilot's Body

For more than a week, 56-year-old Inder Singh Rathore, father of Mahendra Singh Rathore the co-pilot of theBoeing that went down in Lagos, Nigeria, is awaiting for his son's body at their ancestral home in Bikaner. Rathore is upset with the dilly dally of Central authorities who have not been able to expedite the process for arrival of body.

All 153 people on board the Boeing aircraft, apart from over 40 others on the ground, were killed when the Dana Airlines plane crashed in Lagos on June 3.

Rathore, who works in a private company in Kolkata, is in Bikaner along with his wife Pushpa Rathore (52), daughter-in-law Isha Rathore (32) and seven-year old grandson Surya Pratap Singh. He is trying his best to console the family members and is praying for early arrival of his son's body.

"It has been more than a week. My younger son had also submitted his blood sample at a laboratory in Delhi, a few days after the accident, for any DNA test to confirm the body, but still there are no concrete information on when my son's body would arrive here," a devastated Rathore said angrily.

Farouk Lawan changes his story: I Took The Bribe To Expose Otedola

Contrary to his insistence on Sunday that he did not meet with or receive any bribe from anybody, documents in possession of The PUNCH showed that Chairman of the House of Representatives probe panel on fuel subsidy mismanagement, Farouk Lawan, indeed accepted $500,000 from billionaire businessman, Femi Otedola. Clerk of the committee, Boniface Emenalo, also received $100,000 from the businessman.

The sums added up to the $600,000 bribery scandal rocking the House committee which recently exposed how some subsidy thieves robbed the nation of whopping N1.7trn.

Farouk and Emenalo, as the documents, mostly correspondence, indicated, however let in the Acting Inspector-General of Police, Mohammed Abubakar, into the “attempt” by Otedola to bribe them. Also, there were indications in the correspondence that Lawan intimated the House committee chairman on Drugs/Narcotics and Financial Crimes, Adams Jagaba.

Sundry documents
In one of the documents sourced by our correspondents in Abuja on Monday, Lawan, in a letter to Jagaba, wrote, “Attached (to the letter) is the sum of five hundred thousand dollars only offered to me with another promise of two million, five hundred thousand dollars.”
