APOLLOS MUSIC CHALLENGE: The Search begins!!! + Audition Photos
The Apollos music challenge is a unique music competition that pits musically inclined talented students in an attempt to harness the special musical gifts inherent in them. The contest is originated from Greek folklore, where Apollo serves as the Greek god of music; hence, we aim to discover who takes over the reign of supremacy in the 21st century music world.
The Apollos music challenge is an initiative of Pro World Concept, in conjunction with some other promising firms and organizations to make its first edition a huge success. The contest,which has kickstarted in earnest, is set to last 6 weeks, where there would be rounds of auditions, preliminary stages, selection of final contestants, quarter final stage and the Grand Finale.
The University of Ibadan is the host of this contest, and it will feature contestants from tertiary institutions within the south western region of the country.
The Apollos music challenge is geared at not only entertaining youths, but empowering them to reach heights they normally wouldn’t be able to on their own. The prizes for the contest spread across the top 4 contestants of the competition.

Ebola: Nigerian In Canada Put In Isolation After Showing Signs
A Nigerian who recently returned to Canada has been isolated amid fears of Ebola after showing signs ofEbola.
The unnamed male patient was being treated at the William Osler Health System’s Brampton Civic Hospital in a suburb of Toronto.
“As a precautionary measure, Osler put in heightened infection control measures in the emergency department including isolating the patient,”the hospital said in a statement, released late on Friday.
Hospital doctors “are working closely” with public health officials “to confirm a diagnosis.”
In addition to quarantining the patient, the hospital said it enacted other strict precautionary measures.
“To date, there are no confirmed cases of Ebola in Ontario and the risk to Ontarians remains very low,” said Graham Pollett, the province’s Interim Chief Medical Officer of Health.

Catholic Church suspends ‘sign of peace’, Anglican primate suspends handshake over Ebola outbreak
As the fear of the spread of Ebola sweeps across Nigeria, Catholic churches in Lagos have suspended the 'sign of peace' where the congregation shake hands during mass. While some Anglican churches have suspended handshakes during communion.
The Archbishop of Lagos Adewale Martins released a statement saying that while the handshakes have been suspended, Catholic priests should continue the traditional hand to mouth method of given Holy Communion for now, but asked the priest to make sure their hands don't touch the tongues of the recipient. He also said Holy Water bowls usually placed at the entrance of churches should be discontinued to contain the spread of the virus.
In the same vain, the Primate of the Church Of Nigeria Anglican Communion the Most Reverend Nicholas Okoh today suspended shaking of hands during the exchange of the peace. He also suspended the age long mouth method of administering communion. He said this is aimed at preventing the spread of the disease through physical contact.

A Nigerian man was quarantined today in Hong Kong after he showed
Ebola-like
symptoms during a trip to the city. The man who arrived Hong Kong from
Lagos on Thursday August 7th via Dubai, was isolated in a hospital after
severe vomiting and suffering from diarrhoea. He later tested negative
for Ebola.
In a statement released today, the Southern Chinese city government said the 32 year old man, whose name was not given, had "tested negative for Ebola virus upon preliminary laboratory testing".

#CODED-ish News::Man kills wife in Lagos for allegedly infecting him with HIV
According to reports by Punch, Katongu stabbed his wife to death in a street at
Oniru Estate, Maroko, Lagos, where they lived. Police say she was
stabbed at least three times. After he was arrested by operatives of the
Department of Criminal
Investigations, Yaba, Lagos, Katongu, 45, claimed he killed her because
she infected him with HIV and then wanted to leave him for another man.
He explained:
"I married Justina, my second wife in December 2010. I later learnt that she had given birth to two girls for a man. The girls died of AIDS. However, when we first met, she did not tell me all these. I explained to her that I have a wife with children and I wanted to marry her too. Before marriage, I told her we should go to hospital to conduct HIV test, but she refused and said that she was HIV negative. So we started sleeping together.”
Katongu claimed that without his knowledge, his wife had been going to Abuja for medical treatment every three months for HIV, until March 2013 when she took him along.
He said it was at the hospital that she disclosed her HIV status to him.
“I was angry and told the doctor who equally blamed her for not disclosing it to me. The doctor then tested me, and I was positive. We came back to Lagos and continued with the relationship because I loved her. But suddenly, she told me she wanted to pack out from my house that she was no longer interested in marrying me having had another person in Abuja. In fact, the man usually called her on phone while we were together.
“I told her that with her status, she should not go and be infecting people with the virus. And that I will kill her and kill myself. We started fighting and I stabbed her. It was in the early hours. I stabbed her three times with a knife. She shouted and people were knocking at our door.
After she died, I stabbed myself, and the people broke the door open. I woke up to find myself in a hospital. I feel very bad that I killed my wife. I loved her very much.”
