#CODED-ish News:: ASUU Gives FG Final Condition Before They End The Strike

It is not yet over, as the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) has given the Government conditions to be met before the union would finally call off its over four-month old strike.

"I must tell you that our mandate remains. The only mandate we have is that 2009 agreement must be met. We have not reached any agreement with the Federal Government.

"Since the Federal Government wants to be releasing N220bn every year for five years, then all monetary and regulatory agencies must sign.... The reason we will ensure this is that we don't want argument tomorrow that the agreement was entered in error or that they don't know the implication of signing the agreement.

If possible, documents that will provide for automatic deduction of the agreed money at a particular/agreed date must be provided." A prominent member of the union, who craved anonymity because he was not authorised to speak on behalf of the union, told Punch that doing this would give the association the confidence that "the Government knows what it is doing when it signed the agreement."

He said, "The Central Bank of Nigeria, Ministries of Finance and Labour, National Assembly, Office of the Presidency, National Universities Commission, Tertiary Education Trust Fund, Trade Union Congress and our umbrella body, the Nigeria Labour Congress, must sign with consequences stated."

Recall that the leadership of ASUU had engaged in a 13-hour marathon meeting with government delegation led by President Goodluck Jonathan in Abuja between Monday and Tuesday.
Asked when the lecturers would call off the strike, a source who was at the meeting said, "I doubt if the strike is ending soon.

#CODED-ish News:: UCH Ejects Patients From Wards

The on-going strike of resident doctors has started to take its toll on the University College Hospital (UCH), Ibadan, as the hospital’s in-patients are being discharged prematurely by the management.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the in-patients, regardless of their condition, were asked to go home or patronise any private hospital, as the striking resident doctors failed to report for work.

The NAN correspondent, who visited the hospital on Wednesday, observed that the hospital’s emergency wards were also empty. However, it was gathered that some in-patients, whose conditions were quite critical, were given first aid treatment by the hospital’s nurses before they were discharged.

Reacting to the development, Dr Babatunde Babasanya, the President of the UCH chapter of the National Association of Resident Doctors (NARD), reaffirmed that the association would continue its strike until its demands were met.

The Chief Information Officer of UCH, Mr Toye Akinrinlola, said that the hospital’s management had discussions with the striking doctors, adding, however, that they declined to suspend the strike until their money was paid.

`We appealed to them but they stood their ground. We will continue to talk to them and we hope the strike will be suspended soon,” he said. NARD has been on strike since Oct. 1 over the non-payment of four months’ salaries of its members, as well as the lack of proper funding of residency training programmes.

#CODED-ish News:: Cossy Orjiakor Insures Her Boobs For $1,617,182

Nollywood actress, Cossy Orjiakor who has gained a sensational sex identity is currently a happy woman as she is set to hit another gold mine with her endowment.

The actress was reported to have agreed to a deal to insure her bloated mammary glands for a whooping $1.6million amounting to N256million.

The deal according to source, was introduced to her by an American friend who also dragged Enhanced Silicon Inc. responsible for insuring bréasts of famous foreign celebrities into the deal. The company, which  insured the bosóms of Pamela Anderson and Dolly Parton agreed to the deal just before Cossy’s recent birthday bash, where she displayed her endowments for the world to see. The bóóby actress will be travelling  to Los Angeles in two weeks to sign on the dotted lines. “I specifically asked for $1.6 million,” Cossy was quoted as saying.

As part of the deal awaiting her signature, there will be limits on how many men and women who would touch her bósoms each month. Also, the bósoms have all been given names and must now be treated as people in future movie roles. That means that Enhanced Silicon Inc. will determine how much a movie producer will pay each bosóm for an appearance in a movie. “The downside of the deal is that I may get dressed’, Cossy added.

Cossy seems pretty excited about the deal as sources maintained that each of the endowment will be named and anyone who prefers to touch will have to pay for it just as Enhanced Silicon Inc. will henceforth, decide the amount producers will pay per bréast, for appearance in a movie.

#CODED-ish Gist:: See Genevieve Nnaji's N4million Rolex Watch

Calm down and hear me out first before you start saying it's not true. Lol. Iyanya, Davido and Wizkid are not the celebs who own Rolex watches worth millions of Naira. Star actress Genevieve Nnaji also owns one.

The one she's wearing in the pics above. Now here's how I know. When I was in Dubai recently, I went into a Rolex store...just to window shop. (Can't afford one :-)) and while looking around I saw this particular watch that fell in love with.

Asked how much it was and they told me $25, 000. (That's N4million). Nah, that's way too much for me, so I left the store and settled for something way less expensive.

#CODED-ish Photos:: 2014 Rolls Royce Wraith Unveiled

The Ghost-derived fastback coupe has a brooding, almost menacing stage presence that is markedly different from any other Rolls-Royce model, present or past.

The Wraith is very large - much more so in the metal than it appears in photographs. Its roofline is 13in lower than that of a Range Rover, but the Rolls is fully 11in longer end to end.

The car has a more hunkered, angry stance than the plutocratic Phantom Coupé, though like that car, the Wraith makes no effort to conceal its enormity with visual sleight of hand.

#CODED-ish News:: FG, ASUU meets again next week

Academic Staff Union of Universities met across the country on Thursday to consider the offer by the Federal Government. The ASUU President, Dr. Nasir Faggae after a meeting with President Goodluck Jonathan which ended in the early hours of Tuesday had told reporters that the union would take back an undisclosed message to their members.

The PUNCH gathered that the striking public universities lecturers met in the nine zones of ASUU with branch chairmen to discuss the outcome of the meeting with the President. The meetings presided over by zonal coordinators afforded them (zonal coordinators) the opportunity to brief the branch chairmen about the offer made by the Federal Government to revamp the public universities across the country.

The Federal Government had at the last Tuesday marathon meeting agreed to inject N1.1tn into the universities over the next five years. The money, the Federal Government promised, would be released at the rate of N220bn annually starting from 2014.

The Ibadan zone of ASUU held its meeting at the Federal University Abeokuta on Thursday while that of the North Central Zone took place at the Federal University, Lokoja, Kogi State. Sources at both meetings said that though the union officials were not happy that the N400bn per year they asked for was not granted, they were however happy at the sincerity of purpose displayed by President Jonathan.

#CODED-ish News: :I Am Under Pressure To Contest In 2015 ––Jonathan Declares

President Goodluck Jonathan finally broke his silence on Thursday on his rumoured second term ambition that could see him spend as much as 10 years in office as President of Nigeria. He said he is under pressure from over 1665 campaign groups who have volunteered to work for his re-election in 2015.

But the leadership of the leading opposition, the APC, has reacted to the alleged pressure on Jonathan to run in 2015, restating its determination to wrest political power from the PDP.
There will be a change of guard in 2015, the APC declared in Abuja. Besides, the APC said it is now putting all efforts to ensure that rigging of election is stopped at all cost.

The president's presumed second term bid has been the thrust of the festering crisis in the People's Democratic Party (PDP).

Regardless, President Jonathan who spoke through his special adviser on political matters, Ali Ahmed Gulak said, even Nigerians abroad are "burning in unquenchable desire to return to the country and cast their votes for the ruling PDP come 2015".

Speaking on Thursday in Abuja at a meeting of the Elders' Advisory Council of the Goodluck Support Group (GSG), Gulak said: "Since our last meeting, we have received various support groups being coordinated by the GSG. We have, as of today, 1665. The last to visit was the Ochendo Solidarity Movement from Abia State.

"About 150 of them came to this office. We discussed. They have called on Mr. President to declare his intention. They said that they were not flattering. "There is no alternative to President Jonathan come 2015..."

Chairman of the Council of Elders of the GSG, Sen. Ibrahim Mantu, said many politicians in the country want to be identified with the good works of President Jonathan.

#CODED-ish News:: How I Caught Two Actresses Having Sex - Yoruba Actress Exposes Lesbianism In The Industry

In a recent interview, Yoruba actress, Bose Arowosegbe reveals the marriage issues that Nollywood is facing and why, in her opinion, some of them would rather be with married men.

She also talks about her experience in witnessing two actresses having sex.

See her response:
On her challenges in the industry:
The biggest challenge is patience, having to wait for your own time. Then there is the issue of seniority when some people older than you in the industry expect you to accord them some docile kind of respect, like, not addressing them on a first name basis. These people expect you to call them "aunties" even when you are older than them in real age.

On how acting has affected her marriage:
Even though marriage hasn't prevented me from acting, it has definitely prevented me from taking up certain roles in my films. Even when I shot my 4th production "Akoda Oro" my husband was on set with me. I just delivered my baby then.

Marriage has limited what role I can play again in films. I cannot take part in a sex scene, real or unreal, either in my production or other productions. And nothing can make me go totally nude but I can wear seductive dresses because when I am with my husband I still wear them. I can never go nude or play sex scene but I can be seductive. Before I was married, I wear seductive dresses anywhere but now I only wear them when I am with my husband.

#CODED-ish News:: A Message from ASUU President

Dear Comrades,

As the struggle to save Nigerian University system is being pursued, I'll like to salute all our members for their resoluteness in ensuring that the 2009 ASUU/Government Agreement is implemented in accordance with the Roadmap defined by the 2012 MoU.

We believe very strongly that the rot and decay in the University System is not only arrestable but also reversible.

We believe even more strongly that, the key to turning round the University System lies in the sincere implementation of the Agreement.

What government has so far been doing is no more than a repeat performance of a one-act-play: all the deceptions, propaganda, lies, mischiefs and such other Shenanigans were tried by previous Governments, including Military Juntas, but our resolve to save the University System and our Country remained unwaivered.

We will continue to carry the banner of this struggle to its logical conclusion. I urge all our members to maintain the spirit of camaraderie and remain firmly resolute in ensuring that our patriotic struggle succeeds. United we Bargain, Divided we Beg!

#CODED-ish News:: ASUU Unijos vow to continue strike despite Presidential Directives?

The University of Jos chapter of the Academic Staff Union of University (ASUU) has said it will not surrender, even if the receives the directive of the National President of the Union.

Dr. David Janakam, the Chairman of the UNIJOS chapter, stated this in an interview in the capital city of Plateau State – Jos.

"The National President of ASUU cannot ask us to call off just because the Union has met with Mr. President. We don't operate that way. Whatever agreement reached between the national body and Mr. President will be a subject of discussion at local branches.

"We can only call it off when the local branches give their acceptance to whatever agreement reached with the Federal Government in their last meeting with President Jonathan.

Dr. Janakam said ASUU members have lost confidence in the Federal Government when it comes to agreement based on the lesson learnt from the current strike adding that the minutes of the last meeting with President Jonathan will be critically reviewed.

"If the local branches do not see any seriousness in the contents of that meeting, we will let our national body know of our opinion accordingly. If our response is positive, only then the national body can announce that we have agreed to resume classes.

#CODED-ish News::Parents in Kano rejoice over efforts to end ASUU strike

Parents in Kano have expressed happiness over the Federal Government's efforts to end of the prolonged strike by the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) and ensure peace in the university education system.

Some of the parents, who spoke with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Kano on Wednesday, said that they were delighted about the news on the meeting between the two bodies on Tuesday.

They noted that the meeting renewed the people's hope that the protracted crisis would soon end.

Malam Mustapha Aliyu, a father of three female undergraduates in Bayero University, Kano, said that he had been under pressure from his parents to marry off his daughters to suitors during the strike.

He recalled that he had some problems in convincing his parents about the need for his daughters to attend the university in the first instance, adding that the lingering strike made his parents to call for his daughters' marriage once again.

Alhaji Balarabe Abdulkarim, another parent of a 300-level student of Bayero University, also narrated his ordeal, saying that he was really frustrated by the idleness of his child because of the strike.

"I wish I was wealthy enough; I would have taken my son to another country to continue his studies."

"I know some students who entered foreign universities after him; these persons have concluded their studies and they have since returned home," he added.

A widow, Hajiya Halima Umar, whose daughter is a 200-level student of Kano State University, Wudil, also said that the prolonged ASUU strike was a harrowing experience for her.

She, however, conceded that she sent her daughter to a vocational school for vocational training during the period.

"It is not easy bringing up a girl child alone, she lost her father when she was in the secondary school but I vowed to fund her education up to the university level."

"I was a bit relieved when she informed me that the strike might soon end as the Federal Government had agreed to inject more money into the university education system," she said.

NAN reports that the ASUU strike has persisted for about four months, as many Nigerians have been calling on the association and the Federal Government to resolve all the contentious issues that led to the strike.

#CODED-ish News::Official Statement by Mavin Records on Wande Coal's Exit

An official statement from Mavin Records regarding Wande Coal's exit from the label...
It is with deep regret that we officially announce the departure of recording artist Wande Ojosipe, popularly known as Wande Coal, from Mavin Records due to irreconcilable differences.
Over the past few months, Mavin Records has made a concerted move to consolidate its position in the Nigerian music industry. Mavin has pursued a renewed ethos to raise its standards of quality and professionalism to a world-class level. Wande's vision has not aligned with ours and a few months ago all parties mutually agreed that a separation would be the best course of action.
Legal parties on both sides have spent the past six months trying to reach an amicable solution in terms of musical property rights. However the decision by Wande Coal to release 'Baby Face' purportedly as his own material is a direct breach of intellectual property law and compelled an immediate clarification on our part.

Both Mavin Records and Wande Coal have enjoyed a remarkable run in the course of their working relationship. It is unfortunate that conflicting priorities contributed to the premature curtailment of a hitherto fruitful accord.

Mavin Records reaffirms its goal to constantly provide high quality music to our fans and introduce new and exciting talent into the industry.
We wish Wande Coal the best of luck in all his future endeavours.

He is Nollywood's latest heartthrob and there has been rumours surrounding his status..even-though he fathered a child, some rumour peddlers claim he achieved sudden fame by being gay or a gigolo..

In an interview with Encomium he opened up
(I love the part about him knowing he is a fine boy..Confidence toh bad)
The allegation about your trip to the States is that you went to do gigolo 'runs', what is your take on it?

People don't really know my story. I have heard different things about me.  I have heard that I am a gigolo, gay that I have foolish attitude, that I am a snub.

Some people don't know I had a very rough beginning, even though my parents were on the average. I moved to Lagos alone and I had a very rough time. I slept on the street sometimes.

Seven years ago when I moved down to Lagos, for like three years or so, I slept in cars.  I had this friend of mine that I used to sleep in his car and burn insecticide at night. I always carry myself well because I know where I am destined to be. I kept on pushing.

Sometimes I slept over at the club when there is no friend's house to pass the night.  I was homeless.  I had things very rough at a particular point in time.

It is God's grace that is working for me. When people say I am a gigolo, I am waiting for the person that will come and tell me I slept with his mother. If one person can just come and tell me, IK see this woman you are sleeping with, she is my mother and I will admit I am a gigolo.

#CODED-ish News::FG To Give Varsities N1.1tn In Five Years

Details of the Monday/ Tuesday marathon meeting between President Goodluck Jonathan and the leadership of Academic Staff Union of Universities have begun to emerge.

Information gathered on Tuesday evening that a key component of the agreement reached by the parties was that the Federal Government would inject N1.1tn into public universities in the next five years.

A reliable source, who made this known, also hinted that the strike would be called off anytime next week.

He said the government team which was led by President Goodluck Jonathan would release N220bn yearly into the sector beginning from 2014.

The source added, "The meeting should be the longest that we have ever had on this crisis but I can tell you that both parties were frank all through the discussions.

"The parties also showed commitment towards ending the crisis. The President in particular showed that he was serious about ending the strike and that was why he offered to release over N1tn to the universities in the next five years.

"The money will be released on a yearly basis at N220bn per annum beginning from 2014. For the outgoing year, the government will only release N100bn and this has been processed."

He said that the government, in order to show its commitment to a fresh pact, accepted that "the fund(N1.1tn) should domiciled at the Central Bank of Nigeria"

"The money will be released on a quarterly basis to the universities. So, there won't be any problem about funding the deal," the source said.

The National Universities Commission and the Trade Union Congress, according to him, will be the joint guarantors of the agreement while the Minister of Education will be the implementation officer.

The source also said that the government agreed among other things, to revamp the public universities by ensuring that all those issues that always led to strike were dealt with once and for all.

It was learnt that the negotiating team of ASUU led by Dr. Nassir Faggae met on Tuesday night to further deliberate on the deal.

Though the details of the meeting were not known as of 11.22pm on Tuesday, it was gathered that ASUU might call a National Executive Council meeting on or before Saturday where the deal would be tabled before all its branch executives.

Jonathan had while shaking hands with Fagge after the marathon meeting in the Presidential Villa, Abuja said, "My President, I hope it (strike) will end today(Tuesday). Our children have suffered enough. We must find a solution."

All those in attendance responded with a loud "Amen."

When greeting Omar, he said, "My President with you around, there will be no problem; our agreement is signed, sealed and delivered.".

Faggae told State House correspondent on his way out of the Villa, that his team would take back a message to varsity teachers before a decision would be taken on the next line of action.

"We had a lengthy meeting with Mr. President, and we looked into how best to address the problem of university education in this country. We now have a message from Mr. President that we are going to take to our members and we are expecting that our members will respond appropriately to his message," he said.

Fagge added that since the message was meant for members, he would not divulge it to the press.

When asked whether university teachers would be called upon to return to the classrooms, he said that the decision was left for them to take.

When further asked if he was impressed by the President's message, Faggae cautioned journalists against putting words in his mouth, insisting that only ASUU members would determine that.

The Minister of Labour, Chief Emeka Wogu, who listened to Faggae's encounter with journalists, later said progress was made during the discussion.

He said, "We made progress. The President of ASUU told you that they are going back with a message from the Federal Government back to their members and the message is full of high expectation and hope."

When asked whether ASUU would call off the strike, Wogu said that was why he described the message as full of expectation.

"Our prayer is that they will come back with positive outcome. They might even not come back to meet us. They might take decision there that will meet your expectations " he said.

He added that the offers made by the government during the meeting were those that were in line with the contentious 2009 agreement.

He said since the issues that led to the strike bordered on the 2009 agreement, the government did not go beyond the pact.

The President was joined at the meeting that started at 2.40pm on Monday by Vice-President Namadi Sambo; Minister of Finance, Dr. Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala; the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Anyim Pius Anyim; the Supervising Minister of Education, Nyesom Wike; Wogu among others.

Faggae led the union team which included past presidents such as Prof. Abdulahi Sule-Kano, Prof. Dipo Fashina and Prof. Festus Iyayi.

President of the Nigeria Labour Congress, Abdulawahid Omar and his Trade Union Congress counterpart, Bobboi Kaigama, also attended.

Other members of the delegation were Prof. Biodun Ogunyemi, Prof. Victor Osodeke, Prof. Suleiman Abdul, Dr. Victor Igbum and Mr. Michael Odunmoraye.

The marathon meeting was the first between ASUU and Jonathan since the strike started. The Presidency took over the negotiations with ASUU on September 19 with Sambo in charge.

#CODED-ish News::Don Jazzy Stole My Production Credit For Wande Coal's Low - Shizzi

Things are getting more and more interesting by the hour. The release of Wande Coal's new single "Baby Face" earlier today forced Don Jazzy to put out his own "studio demo" of the same song recorded about a year ago. That led to people accusing Shizzi and Wande Coal of "intellectual property theft". Shizzi and his camp have decided to clarify his stand on the issue by putting out the press release below.

Shizzi's Statement:

Quote
"I have heard and seen some folks rant about me stealing production credit for Wande Coal's new single "Baby Face" and I would like to clarify this issue. I was only doing my job by making the beat for Wande and that's what I did. I don't see any reason why people should jump into quick conclusions without taking their time to really dig into the matter for facts.

Two years back, I remember I created a demo for Wande Coal's "Shawty Go low" and someone else took the credit. I was in shock because i had plans to finish the song with Wande and was hoping it would be released as a single which i produced."
