#CODED-ish News::"I will get married next year"-Cossy Ojiakor breaks her silence on insuring her boobs

When asked in an interview with Vanguard about the man in her life & rumours she insured her boobs, she said
At the moment, I have a lot of people that love me. I'd fall in love. But when I dating someone, I hate to make it a public affair. I can't even take a picture with my man in public. But I can take pictures with my fans. Anybody you see me pose for a shot is my fan. I wouldn't even agree to share the same table with my man at a function. This, for me, is a way of avoiding  people raising eyebrows.Anyway, I will be getting married come next year.A woman get married when she is ready to get married. I will get married next year or I will make a baby next year.

On getting her boobs insured

It's  not true. Sometimes, some of these bloggers just cook up stuffs that are not true. But it sounds so interesting, that's why I didn't want to confirm whether it's true or not. Let the story just be.Somebody just cooked it up. I don't know anything about it. I didn't tell anybody I'm insuring my boobs. It's something that somebody just cooked up somewhere. The story didn't generate from me neither did it generate from my Twitter handle or Instagram.

#CODED-ish News:: Schools Pull Out Of ASUU Strike To Resume On Monday[See Schools]

Yesterday, we reported that Ibrahim Babangida University, Lappai, Niger State pulled out of the strike, announcing it academic activities resumption on Monday November 18th 2013, barely 24 hour later, another university has also pulled out of the strike before ASUU national body decides. An online report available to our reporter has it that the Enugu State University of Science and Technology, ESUT has directed all students to resume on Monday 18th November 2013. An announcement purportedly made via Coal City FM, Enugu.
These developments are emblems of crack in the union.
Make hay while sun shines. Undoubtedly, the 'hay time' for Academic Staff Union of Universities, ASUU to call off the industrial action that has paralysed academic activities in the public universities is now. Various groups, individual, parents, students and part of the union members have become uncomfortable with the unending strike, thereby urging the ASUU to suspend the strike in the wake of the latest efforts by President Goodluck Jonathan.
If ASUU is adamant, if the union turns deaf ear to calls to end the strike today. I will not be surprised if the union's authority is challenged by lower affiliates chapters as it's now in IBBU and ESUT.

#CODED-ish News::Nigeria’s Loss; Ghana’s Gain… Admission spike in Ghanaian Universities

Ghana's public universities are facing a boom in applications, but do not have sufficient facilities to meet growing demand that has been exacerbated by an influx of students from neighbouring countries and a double cohort leaving school this year.
As a result, admission to universities is no longer based on obtaining the required grades – some qualified candidates have been turned down or made to sit additional selection tests.
The situation has been compounded by students from neighbouring countries – especially Nigeria – competing with Ghanaians for admission. Nigerians have been seeking out Ghanaian institutions because of the frequent strikes that have bedevilled their public university campuses.
"Over the past four months, Nigerian universities have been on strike and students have been forced to stay at home so it is better for some of us to look elsewhere to educate our children," a Nigerian parent, Folu Agbeniran, told University World News in Accra.
Agbeniran said he had spent a month in Ghana looking at institutions that could admit his child as a first-year political science student.
"It is expensive to send your child to universities in Europe because even if you have the money, the visa regime has become very complicated so it is only logical to turn to a neighbouring country where everything is working," he said.
Local students have become frustrated as institutions put in place competitive procedures to select qualified applicants. This year the University of Ghana rejected 39,645 qualified applicants who wanted to pursue undergraduate or graduate programmes in the 2013-14 academic year.
The vice-chancellor of the University of Ghana, Professor Ernest Aryeetey, said the situation was worse this year because there were two groups of students that sat the West African Senior School Certificate Examination in May-June 2013. This was due to the shortening of the four-year senior high school course to three years.
Aryeetey said about 37,507 undergraduates and 2,138 graduates were denied admission. He described as "painful" the decision to reject 881 applicants who obtained good aggregates.
"We are faced with the painful decision of having to turn down the applications of many otherwise well qualified applicants due to limitations of staff and facilities," he said.
As a result of these limitations some science students said they had to sit selection tests to gain admission.
"I made the grades and was expecting to be admitted but the university authorities used a test that they conducted to deny my admission," said Joseph Addo.
"My dream of gaining admission to study medicine has been dashed and I am not sure of what I can do because private universities are very expensive and my parents cannot afford to pay those fees," Addo added.

#CODED-ish News::Iyayi’s Kinsmen Demand N50bn Compensation From Kogi Gov

THE Onojie of Ugbegunland, hometown of former President of Academic Staff Union of Universities, ASUU, Professor. Festus Iyayi, in Edo State, HRM, Samuel Obade I, and his people, are demanding a compensation of N50 billion to be paid to the immediate family of the late professor by the Kogi State governor, Captain Idris Wada.

The community in a letter dated November 13, to the Executive Secretary, National Human Rights Commission, Abuja, on the death of its son in an automobile accident with the governor's security details, called for a thorough investigation for Nigerians to know the actual cause of Iyayi's death.

This came as eminent Nigerians, including the supervising Minister of Education, Ezenwo Nyesom Wike, continued to lament the untimely and tragic death of Professor Festus Iyayi
Also, Governor Adams Oshiomhole of Edo State, described late Professor Iyayi as "a man who gave his all in the struggle and led by example."

Yesterday, Nigeria Union of Petroleum and Natural Gas Workers, Nigeria Medical Association, NMA, Peoples Democratic Movement, PDM among others said the tragic death was avoidable.'

While NMA, asked the Federal Government to probe the circumstances which led to Iyayi's death in the crash along the Lokoja – Abuja road on Tuesday, NUPENG claimed the recklessness by the convoy of Governor Wada brought to the fore the need for the Federal Road Safety Commission, FRSC, the police and other relevant traffic agencies to enforce speed limits on our highways by those carrying dignitaries.

Wike, in a statement, said: "The late former ASUU President was an erudite scholar whose academic and professional contributions to national development will be missed. I pray God to grant the ASUU, the family of Professor Iyayi and the entire nation, the strength to bear this loss. We are very sad about the death of Professor Festus Iyayi who had been a strong voice in the advancement of quality university education in our country. His death is a huge loss to Nigeria."

NMA calls for probe
Commenting on the death, NMA's President, Osahon Enabulele, said: "While we mourn the extremely sad and tragic death of this dogged and courageous fighter for socio-economic and political justice in Nigeria, and an unrepentant crusader for restoration of standards and excellence in university education, we are pained that his death followed another despicable act of recklessness and impunity by executive convoys.

"The NMA, calls on the Federal Government to institute an urgent official inquiry into the circumstances that led to Prof. Iyayi's death while machinery is urgently put in motion by the Federal Road Safety Commission, FRSC, to put an end to the recklessness of executive convoys whose intolerable impunity has sent many innocent and productive Nigerians to their early graves.

''Surely, we shall miss the inspirational literary works and great personality of Prof. Festus Iyayi, especially at this crucial period of our country's history when his usually frank contributions to the resolution of the several questions bordering on the existence of the Nigerian state, are most needed.

''While we await the outcome of the official inquiry into the auto crash, we deeply condole with the entire Iyayi family, the President and members of ASUU and the Vice-Chancellor, University of Benin.''

NUPENG wants reckless drivers punished
NUPENG, in a statement by its General Secretary, Isaac Aberare, while commiserating with the immediate family of Prof. Iyayi and leadership of ASUU, insisted that Iyayi's death "is just one death too many caused by convoys of this nature and the National Assembly must pass a law to stop such reckless driving and penalise offenders.

"NUPENG also calls on the federal and state governments to rehabilitate our roads to make them motorable, instead of the bad incidences of pot holes dotting our roads causing accidents.

The nation cannot continue to lose innocent lives due to negligence and recklessness on the part of government and uncaring government drivers. NUPENG condoles with the family of Professor Iyayi, who was a dogged activist, and known for his non-compromising position when he held sway at ASUU and pray that God will grant him eternal rest.

Professor Iyayi will be remembered as an astute academic and labour leader who brought the activities of ASUU to limelight and a force to be reckoned with in the fight for better education in our tertiary institutions today."

Iyayi led by example —Oshiomhole
Condoling members of the immediate family at their residence in Benin City, Governor Adams Oshiomhole, who noted that Iyayi's death was a rude shock to him, said: "I am here on behalf of the good people of Edo State to condole with you and members of your family on the death of Professor Festus Iyayi. The Iyayi family cannot be defined in terms of the wife, the immediate children, as well as family members.

"Iyayi was a member of a much larger family that cuts across the length and breadth of Nigeria. For me, and I believe for all those who knew him, it was a rude shock. In fact, I was extremely shocked. It was extremely shocking when somebody showed me a text message and suggested in that message that Iyayi might not have survived that accident. I told the man not to spread false rumour.

"A week before then, I saw him on television along with his colleagues providing intellectual backing as to why the Federal Government should deliver on its commitment to ASUU as per the agreement signed in 2009. I played a part in the signing of that agreement after both parties shifted ground.

"When I learnt that our comrade died in such gruesome manner, only a stone hearted person would not be moved. I do not know how to convey, not just my feeling, but the feelings of those who have known him.

"I had known him when I was in the Nigeria Labour Congress, NLC, and ASUU at that time was not part of the NLC. Iyayi along with his colleagues provided intellectual backing to support and encourage the NLC to articulate its position on a variety of socio-economic and political issues. So he was always there", he said.

Oshiomhole noted that "in line with the ASUU tradition of selfless service and sacrifice in the true sense of that word, he would always travel by road covering long distances where even junior officers and lower people would rather take flights. ASUU leaders would always go by road to any part of the country, leading by example.

"When people talk of selfless service, commitment to nation, leadership by example giving your all to what you believe in, constituting yourself to a one man liberation army driven by national passion to reposition our great country to lead the continent to the way God had intended, Iyayi represented the best of that tradition", he noted.

Oshiomhole insisted "even those who disagreed with his logic could not fault his position. Even those who faulted his logic could not fault his patriotism that informed those positions. Those are the kind of leadership every community needs if Nigeria would be different from what it has been.

"When I came here, I was troubled by the position of Ambrose Alli University and I wanted people who have dedicated their lives to the cause of education, Professor Iyayi and Dr Peter Ozo-Eson are people I knew all their lives they have worked persuading government to accord the appropriate recognition and sufficient allocation to the university system in order to build the much needed competent human capital.

"I approached them to be members of the governing council which they readily accepted and offered their time generously along with others to provide leadership for the AAU. When I say that we feel the pains, it is not a matter of rhetoric", he said.
Responding on behalf of the family, Professor Austine Ebewele thanked the governor for the visit and said the death was a big loss not only to the family but also to the university community.

PDM blames executive recklessness
On its part, PDM, blamed Iyayi's death on executive recklessness and tasked "highly placed Nigerians to lead by example instead of engaging in acts which continue to make our roads unsafe."

PDM in a statement by its National Chairman, Mallam Yusuf Ibrahim, lamented that Iyayi's death came at a time "when his academic services are needed the most." The party said it "deplores the incessant loss of valuable Nigerian lives due to avoidable road accidents caused by poor road construction and, often, by reckless and dangerous driving by highly placed Nigerians.

"Nigeria has endured too much loss of its priceless human assets through untimely deaths resulting from unnecessary road accidents."

#CODED-ish News::" What Would Iyayi Want?"-Oluwagbemiga

What would Iyayi want?
So, he is dead and gone, to make matters worse they are killing his legacy which means he died in vain. Nigeria as at now is in a state of upheaval, sadness and disappointment. At age 53, it is unbelievable that Nigeria is still battling with something as vital as the education of her youths, her future generation. Nothing could be worse than this, or so I think.
Sitting here after another totally wasted 24 hours of my life, I have an epiphany. Iyayi would definitely be angry. Let's think about it. It seemed he lost his life on his way to one of several meetings to solve the problems betweeen ASUU and the FG. I doubt that he would appreciate an indefinite suspension of the meeting he died while going for. This could mean a 'back to square one' point. So, why did he not just relax at home and let matters fall as they would?
He seemed a great patriot, and am sure if our beliefs are true, he would be looking down on us from wherever he is weeping, I think we should put an end to countless number of lives wasting away as every second counts.

The bone of contention dating as far back as 2009 has been responsible for the death of innumerable lives of young promising youths. Referring to a student of the university of Ibadan, Ruth who was ruthlessly crushed to death in a fatal car accident while she was on her way home after the lockdown of the hostels which was as a result of the Asuu strike 2013, so many have died and many others will if this strike is not terminated permanently from the Nigerian educational system.
They would have been out of danger had it not been for the strike, or the countless number of parents crying while they watch their kids squander their lives away, the fathers who have become grandfathers before they planned.
Festus Iyayi, an ex-president of asuu, another victim of the strike who had dedicated his life to the success and development of the Nigerian educational system through the Asuu group wouldn't want this strike to continue as a result of his demise rather it should be a strong platfom for an end to the Asuu strike.
Either way am sure Iyayi is crying out hoping for a 'whoopi goldberg' to hear his spirit telling us not to use him as an excuse to prolong an already overflogged issue. Telling us to make his life and that of so many others count by solving this ASUU issue, telling us to make the patience, belief and faith shown by the students that the ASUU strike will cause a revolution in our education system to count, telling us not to go back to square one. Nigerians should question themselves, should Iyayi's death lengthen this already long strike or should it be a reason for a lasting solution to the strike? But I could be wrong, either way we need to ask ourselves and be sure, "what would Iyayi want?"

#CODED-ish News:: ASUU NEC meeting now to hold on Saturday

An impeccable source, one of the prominent leaders of Academic Staff Union of Universities, ASUU, who pleaded anonymity because he was not authorized to comment on this yet has disclosed to one of our correspondents that the suspended ASUU Nation Executive Committee, NEC meeting earlier postponed in honour of Late Prof. Festus Iyayi, a renown novelist, former ASUU president and prominent leader of ASUU may be reconvened on Saturday.

He reiterated that the news of of Prof Iyayi's sudden death came as a rude shock to the union; most painfully, Late Iyayi was on ASUU official assignment when he met his gruesome and untimely death, so there was nothing the Union could do to honour the late hero at the point than to put on hold it NEC meeting scheduled to hold in Kano. "There is strong indication that the NEC meeting will be reconvened on Saturday". He further stated in strong term that unless ASUU leaders re-decides, the NEC meeting will hold on Saturday.

When asked if the strike will actually be suspended, he said: "I think so, judging by reports from the Monday congresses we held simultaneously, the union may suspend the strike on Saturday or Sunday."

It will be recalled that ASUU had suspended indefinitely it NEC meeting where decision to either end or continue the lingering strike will be taken due to the death of Late Prof. Festus Iyayi, a former ASUU president.

#CODED-ish News::Government Convoy Kills Another Two Person In Lagos

Tragedy struck again on Wednesday as two persons were killed while no fewer than nine others were injured after a tipper rammed into pedestrians at the U-turn end of the Lagos-Abeokuta Expressway.
"On their way back, while connecting the express, the convoy caused the accident. They drove into the expressway recklessly without stopping to check for oncoming vehicles.
"At the time they connected the expressway, a tipper was approaching on top speed. To avoid hitting the convoy, the tipper swerved to the right side of the road. It lost control and rammed into some pedestrians standing by the side of the road."
The tipper was said to be avoiding a government convoy of 7 vehicles that allegedly drove recklessly into the busy expressway from a side road. The unfortunate incident accurred between 11am and 12pm.

Eyewitness told Punch that the convoy had stopped to visit a yet-to-be identified person admitted at a private hospital in the area. "It was a convoy of about seven vehicles. There were four jeeps and three escort vans. The escorts were riot policemen," the source added.

11 persons were hit, while two died on the spot.
The source said, "The riot policemen came down, they watched the scene for a while, jumped into their vehicles and proceeded towards the Sango area of Ogun State. We could not challenge the convoy when it stopped because the policemen carried guns and they looked menacing."

It was learnt that a Lagos State Ambulance Service bus later arrived to convey victims to the hospital.

Eyewitnesses were unsure if the convoy belonged to either the Lagos or Ogun state governments. One of them said, "The number plates of the vehicles were covered."

The question is, which governor was in that convoy? Or is it one big man who is not even in government?

#CODED-ish Gist::If You Want To Be Famous, Do It The Right Way! Karen Igho Tells Yvonne Nelson Again

Few weeks ago, Yvonne Nelson made fun of Karen's boobs and also insulted some Nigerian celebs on twitter, but claimed her account was hacked. Karen later went in hard on her, and even told her she has been passed round enough by Nigerian men. Again, Karen is speaking. Here is what she said to Victor Eneged when asked about the incident.

Let me break it down first and foremost, I don't know Yvonne Nelson and I have never met her. I heard she is a Ghanaian actress. I don't hate on anyone who is trying to make a living but you just can't come out of the blue and insult me. Everybody knows I'm not troublesome. If you look for my trouble I would give you double. Why would you just insult Nigerian celebs and myself, 'wetin I do you na?'It's not like we've met before. Attention seekers should go and look for the attention elsewhere.

If your account was hacked with a verified account they won't tweet personal messages at celebs. They would try and send viruses and spam and keep on hacking. You don't say Karen has been quiet and try to take shots at her. Right now, I don't even care any more because they are attention seekers who when they can't get attention from men, they try to get it from women. The best thing is to ignore them. If indeed your account was hacked, you would look for my contact and call me and apologize or apologize to Nigerians or mention at me on twitter and apologize personally. I hope the girl has learnt her lesson that if you want to be famous you do it the right way. God has blessed you and put you where you are so work on how to succeed and not look for ways to belittle other people.

#CODED-ish News::ASUU STRIKE: Jonathan’s N1.1tr fund to end strike tearing varsities apart

President Goodluck Jonathan's last intervention offer of N1.1 trillion to Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) is already causing another crisis in the system. This is just as other unions in the university system apart from ASUU, including Senior Staff Association of Nigerian Universities (SSANU), Non-Academic Staff of Universities (NASU), National Association of Technicians (NAAT) are squaring up for another round of action to get their slice of fresh funding in the university system.
However, Daily Newswatch investigations showed that only SSANU is alleging being shortchanged in some universities by about 50 percent of the fresh funds released by the government, especially the formula used in sharing the fund.
Indeed, the Federal Government had earlier offered N100 billion and N30 billion respectively for infrastructure development in various universities and payment of verified earned allowances, but that was not enough for ASUU to call off the strike.
The N1.1trillion offer, to be domiciled in the Central Bank, was approved by President Jonathan particularly to ensure that the lecturers finally buckle and call off the four-month-old ASUU strike, but it seems it is another source of crisis in the system.
Only yesterday, the Senior Staff Association of Nigerian Universities (SSANU), UNILAG chapter, staged a peaceful protest on campus over the sharing formula of the N1.6 billion earned allowances by the Federal Government.
Chairman of SSANU, Adetola Adetomiwa, said the N1.6 billion, the university's share in the earned allowances, was part of the issues contained in an agreement the association entered into with the Federal Government in 2009.
He said the earned allowances comprised of responsibility, excess workload and hazard allowances.
According to him, a total of N30 billion was disbursed by the Federal Government to all federal universities nationwide for earned allowances about two months ago, even before President Jonathan's meeting with the leadership of ASUU.
"Of this amount, a total of N1.6 billion was accruable to our university to be shared based on existing formula, which is N15,000 for the junior staff spread across 18 months arrears and N30,000 for senior staff spread across same period.
"Rather than follow this sharing formula as stipulated for all labour unions of the institution, the university authorities decided now to pay each of us N15,000 across board and this is highly unacceptable.
"I want you to know that this same earned allowance has since been paid our colleagues in other universities the way it is supposed to be. That is N15,000 for the junior staff and N30,000 for the senior staff.
"Why then should our own here in the University of Lagos be different from others or is there something going on that we do not know about?
"To this effect, we have given the university management 24 hours to follow the existing template on the sharing formula of this fund and do the right thing in order to avoid further problems with the university," he said.
The SSANU boss said the association was the precursor of the demands for the earned allowances, and therefore, there was no reason for the management of the institution to do what he described as "shortchanging members of the association."
He said the incident if unresolved might also affect academic activities in the university whenever ASUU eventually decided to call off the strike.
Adetomiwa vowed to follow up the issue until justice was achieved because, according to him, government had done what was expected and there was no reason for some individuals to scuttle the gesture.
"We want to follow this matter up to any level, because it is high time we instilled discipline and sanity into our university system, which we all agree has been suffering from a lot of challenges.
"We must all strive to join hands with government to ensure that we do the right thing, so that we get a university of our dream. One, which we shall all be proud of as a people," he said.
However, Daily Newswatch investigations showed that in a few other universities, the formula of sharing the fresh fund is not only the issue, but other unions, especially those concerning the administrative staff and junior workers who felt neglected and are warming up to start their own negotiations and, perhaps, strike.
Sources in the universities told Daily Newswatch that this had been the usually pattern and unless the government takes the issue as a whole, it may repeat itself again.

#CODED-ish News::Saraki Tells ASUU To End Strike To Honour Festus Iyayi - What Do You Think?

The representative, Kwara Central Senatorial District, Dr. Abubakar Bukola Saraki, on Wednesday said that the time has come for the leadership and membership of the Academic Staff Union of Universities to end the over four months strike that has led to the disruption of acadmic activities.

Saraki, who was reacting to the death on Tuesday of renowned academics and former President of ASUU, Dr. Festus Iyayi, in a road accident, said the union should consider calling off the strike in his memory.

Iyayi was killed in the accident blamed on the convoy of the Kogi State Governor, Captain Idris Wada, in Lokoja, while on his way to Kano for the National Executive Council meeting of ASUU.
The NEC was to consider the proposal by President Goodluck Jonathan on ways to end the face-off with the Federal Government.
Saraki, a former Governor of Kwara State, told the union: "While there can be justifiable reasons to sustain the strike, the death of Iyayi has, obviously, changed the tune of the music.
"In his honour, even if all the terms and conditions for reopening our ivory towers have not been met by the government, you should consider the reopening of the universities."
And to the Federal Government, Saraki, in the statement signed by his Media Office, said: "Education should not be toyed with by any government that is intent on developing the country.
"This is more so for a government that has proclaimed its desire to move the country from the label of a developing one to a developed nation.
"There is no sacrifice that is too much to be made in the bid to develop the country.
"All that is required to ensure that this our country with limitless potentials achieves the height of greatness is by being prudent in allocation and spending of our resources and commonwealth.
"The demands by ASUU are not out of place.

"It is for the good of the nation."

*When will ASUU stop using this strike to hold the government to ransom at the expense of the youth?it has become annoying...will this strike better the universities or is it for their selfish interest?personal gain?

#CODED-ish News::ASUU leaders chase Kogi gov away from hospital

Angry leaders of the Academic Staff Union of Universities allegedly chased away the Governor of Kogi State, Captain Idris Wada (retd.) from the emergency ward of the  Lokoja General Hospital on Tuesday.
Wada had gone to the hospital  to visit their  injured colleague, Dr. Ngozi Ilo,   and commiserate with them over the death of their  former President, Prof. Festus Iyayi,   in an accident involving his convoy  and an ASUU vehicle on Tuesday.
The  Chairman, University of Benin chapter  of ASUU, Dr. Anthony Monye-Emina; and the Benin Zonal Coordinator, Dr. Sunny Iyalo, had minor injuries and were therefore not admitted into the hospital.
The   ASUU leaders, including the National President, Dr. Biodun Ogunyemi;  the Ibadan Zonal Coordinator, Dr. Nassir Adesola; the Chairman, Lagos State University chapter of the union, Dr. Adekunle Idris;    Monye-Emina;   Iyalo  and lecturers from the Federal University Lokoja however sent the governor away from the hospital's emergency ward.
Their grouse was Wada's  late response to the accident and the uncaring attitude he allegedly displayed towards the union leaders  involved in the accident.
They also accused him of trying to make a political gain out of their misfortune.
Idris, who confirmed that  Wada was chased out of the  emergency ward, said,    "We are surprised that a state governor could resort to telling lies because contrary to the claim by his spokesperson that he showed care towards our colleagues, he did not.
"Somebody that did not stop after his convoy killed our leader; somebody that did not come to the hospital until some minutes to 5pm(on Tuesday) after the accident that happened around 11am could not be said to be caring.
"That was why we chased him out of the emergency ward of the hospital and we also prevented him from seeing Prof. Iyayi's corpse in the mortuary.
"We are not happy with the fact that he came very late to the hospital and the fact that when he came, his press crew attempted to take photograph and video record of Dr. Ilo, who is our national welfare  secretary. We stopped them because that was  the  height of insensitivity.
"Somebody that could not provide us with an ambulance cannot be said to be caring. We had to call UNIBEN for an ambulance that took Ilo to the UNIBEN Teaching Hospital while our colleagues from the Federal University, Lokoja, with the assistance of the vice-chancellor, gave us the ambulance that was used to convey the remains of Prof. Iyayi to Benin."
Idris added that though Wada  left the hospital "like a gentleman,"  some of  his overzealous  security aides tried  to be naughty.
He said, "Some of the policemen  that followed him to the hospital wanted to be naughty but we lectured them. The hospital workers and the residents of Lokoja who witnessed how we chased the governor  away were happy."
Also, Adesola expressed dismay at  the efforts  made by the governor to rewrite the incident.
He said, "It was actually the last of the governor's convoy that veered off the road and ran into a  vehicle that was conveying Iyayi and others.
"When the governor's convoy came  with   noise and harassment, everyone on the road moved  to the side  of the road for them to pass  but  unfortunately, the governor's aide  has told the world that an  ASUU  vehicle was avoiding a trailer and ran into  their escort vehicle.
"What manner of reckless lying is that? The front  of the ASUU bus remains  intact except for the windscreen that broke. Iyayi was sitting at the back of the bus and the  escort van  ran into it.
The most annoying part is  that the incident occurred around 11am and the governor did not even visit the hospital until around 5pm.
"He  came with a large  number of pressmen and security aides  and was attempting to make some political capital out of our misfortune.
"We actually had to chase him away from the emergency ward where our welfare secretary was still receiving treatment ."
But Jacob Edi, the Special Adviser, Media and Strategy to  Wada,  claimed that the ASUU leaders did not chase his boss away from the hospital.
Edi, who in a telephone interview  with one of our correspondents, insisted that Wada  was not indifferent to the plight  of the   accident victims, however, stated that the union officials were not  friendly.
He said, "When the governor went  to the hospital, the ASUU people   had a kind of adverse reaction to the governor.    But they did not chase away the governor. Nobody chased away anybody."
The governor's spokesman  added that the state government would not want to be involved in controversy over  the death of the former ASUU president.
He stated that Wada was pained by  the accident and had been sympathising with the bereaved families  and  the survivors.
It was however not only the ASUU leaders that   lambasted  the governor  over  the accident, the Nigeria Labour Congress, a former President of the Trade Union Congress, Mr. Peter Esele and an ex-Commissioner of Police in Lagos State, Mr. Abubakar Tsav, also  did.
They  described Wada's convoy as reckless and   demanded the prosecution of the  driver  of the escort vehicle that   caused the accident on the Lokoja-Abuja Road.
The NLC,  in a statement in Abuja by its National President, Mr. Abdulwahed Omar, described the death of Iyayi as avoidable.
It  also blamed the Federal Government for its neglect of  the road.
The NLC said its  position  was  that the federal   and   Kogi State governments  were responsible for   Iyayi's death.
It  said that 10 years after the contract for the rehabilation of the  Lokoja-Abuja Road was awarded,  it  had been turned to a death trap.
The NLC  said,  "Iyayi's death leaves a sour taste in the mouth and it is totally avoidable. It is blameable, lawlessness/impunity on the part of the Kogi State governor, who is fast acquiring for himself an accident-prone reputation.
The congress therefore advised  "siren-blowing and terror-dealing convoys" to  be conscious of other road users.
It  called on the Federal Roads Safety Corps and the Nigeria Police to ensure that those behind the  accident  were brought to justice.
Esele and Tsav    urged the relevant authorities to ensure that the convoy driver involved in the accident was prosecuted.
They spoke in different telephone interviews with   our correspondents.
According to them, Wada has a responsibility to caution his drivers as his convoy has become reputed for recklessness.
Esele recalled that the convoy of the governor was involved in  an  accident which resulted in the death of  Wada's Aide de Camp and in which Wada was also injured.
Tsav,  who described the death of the former ASUU leader as unfortunate, called on President Goodluck Jonathan to meet the demands of ASUU.
This, he said, would be  in appreciation of the fact that Iyayi died while contributing to the development of university education in the country.
Tsav said that   accidents occurred in Kogi State not because the roads in Kogi were the worst but because the drivers in the governor's convoy were not cautious.
He said that the roads were not meant only for the political office holders but   for  all Nigerians.
He said, "The convoy of Wada is known for being reckless; this is not the first time this is happening. It does not mean that the worst roads are in Kogi State.
"I want to appeal to him to caution his drivers, they are reckless, he should caution them to be cautious on the roads, the roads belong  to every Nigerian."

He was in company with some ASUU leaders and they were said to be returning from Kano where they sought the views of members on ending the four-month-old ASUU strike.

When asked what the secret to his 17 year marriage to actress Omotola Jalade Ekeinde is, Captain Matthew Ekeinde said something very profound…things a lot of men need to read. Find it below…
One thing that has been working for us as a couple is that I always encourage her to be who she wants to be. I give her full support always.
Lots of married women that are caught cheating on their husbands could be traced to the fact that some of their husbands don't allow them explore their talents. I encourage my wife and kids to be what they want to be.
Most of the influential men and women we have in this world didn't even go to school. So it is all about exploiting your talents.
Some women love acting but their husbands won't let them believing that other men would touch or exploit them sexually. It is all about discipline. Those that want to cheat will cheat; it is all about self control.

#CODED-ish Gist::COSSY: Why Idris Abdulkareem called me an old whore

Controversial actress, Cossy Orjiakor, in this interview with Sunday Tribune speaks on various scandals trailing her private life and dreams. Excerpts
What has Cossy been up to lately?
I just released a video entitled "Sexual Seduction," a song I did with Durella, I just released it, and I am trying to push it online and also get it aired on television stations and radio stations too.
You are one of those actresses that launched into the entertainment scene a long time ago, what can you say has made you relevant?
It depends on when you enter a profession, I got in when I just finished from the university. I got into the industry at a very young age, and you know, my big boobs confused people, so they felt I was kind of old back then.

What do you feel Nollywood is not getting right?
I think they are doing great. I really do.
You are one of the big girls in Lagos now, talking about your mansion in Lekki?
It's not a big mansion, it's just a small quiet and comfortable place

If you were not an actress, what would you have become?
I really don't know, I would have been married with lots of kids to one man.

There are so many scandalous reports about you, how do you feel when you read many of them?
I have the mind of a child, I also try to ignore negative comments and I try to keep off people that have negative vibes, by surrounding myself with happy people, I don't get easily embarrassed.

So many people think so many things of Cossy? can you tell us something that we don't know about you?
Hmmm! I only want people to know what I want them to know.
So those crazy things you do are done on purpose?
I am a very fun loving person and I love my boobs so much, so if I take a picture of myself and post it online, I don't see any problem with that. People have been seeing these boobs for ages, I don't know why it is still a big deal, by now they should have stopped talking, I don't know why they haven't. I like keeping myself happy and I also get crazy with my friends. For instance, last week was my birthday party and I had my party at five different clubs.
Let's talk about the story about you being engaged some weeks ago. Was it true or was that just Cossy in her usual manner of luring the public?
No, it just happened, I just met the person and he went on his knees to propose..
So you are really engaged?
No, I am not engaged. I think it was a kind of stunt pulled by the person, it was a joke, we were talking about Nikki Minaj's engagement when he just got on his knees, It wasn't even a diamond ring.
What actually attracts a man to you?
A lot of things…but right now, I can't really tell
What would you describe as your saddest moment in life?
When I lost my brother and sister… and then at a point, a press man wanted money from me and when I did not give him money, he went to publish some false stories about me sleeping with dogs and the producer also said that it was not a movie.
It was really hard for me and my parents then.

How do you move on from these reports?
Normally, when I am sad, I eat, I take it out on food, but I try not to these days. What you don't see cannot harm you. I try not to click on link that has something negative. You know sometime ago, there was this lady that started carrying rumours of me having HIV all around and the most recent reports that I said Idris Abdulkareem begged me for sex….how on earth can I say that? in fact, I had to stop tweeting because of that, I actually had a music production I had to do with Idris and he wished me good, but all of a sudden, they decided to push two heads against each other. But I am happy that it had been resolved.
But Idris actually replied on twitter calling you an óld whore…..
It was so sad. How can somebody just wake up and cook up something like that. I don't know where that came from, maybe the guy was watching a video and just decided to talk. Idris is a married man, and that was why I did not reply him. If it was another person that called me an old whore, I would have told him off, but when an office is bigger than you, you have to respect that office. Idris is bigger than me. I thank God for understanding, I had to call him and plead with him, I even did a very interesting song with him and it would be out next year.
You also released a picture of Denrele and your boobs, what was that about?
Denrele is a very busy person and I happened to run into him and since it was my birthday party, I decided to do a boob picture for him with an imaginary birthday candle, and he blew it and that was it.
There are so many actresses trying to compete with you as the "sexiest person" in the entertainment scene too….
I am really flattered that there are so many people that want to be like me, imitation is the best compliment you can give a person.
But there was this actress who once said her boobs were bigger than yours…
Who is that? I don't know her o, I haven't heard about her, I would probably go online and check her out.
So what do you do to keep fit?
(Laughs)Hmm, you don't need to know o. Maybe people should go online and check for the best exercise that one can do to stay fit, that's what I do.
In a few years' time, what would you love to be remembered for?
I want to be remembered as a girl that was not afraid to be herself, even as a musician, I am not hoping for any of those big endorsements. I am just here having fun to its fullest. I am not afraid of anything because I am extremely independent.

What message do you have for your fans?
I wish them all the good things they wish for themselves and I want to tell them to remain positive about themselves and they should go to where they are appreciated and valued. Make sure you put your name or mark in whatever you do.
EXCERPTED FROM TRIBUNE.

#CODED-ish News::ASUU STRIKE LATEST: Union members disposed to ending strike, set Saturday new date

Already, chairmen of local chapters of ASUU are converging on Kano, preparatory to the meeting, from where a positive resolution is being expected. Chairman of one of the federal universities in the South-South, who did not want his name mentioned, said the strike "may be suspended on Saturday."
"Many of the chapters are disposed to ending this strike, which has cost us all a full semester. "As I speak with you, we (chairmen) are on our way to Kano for NEC meeting tomorrow (today)." Asked if the strike would be suspended, he said: "I think so, judging by reports from the Monday congresses we held simultaneously. We may suspend the strike on Saturday or Sunday."
He, however, admonished government to ensure that it honoured its promise so as not to return the university system to this "sorry past". This, of course, formed the basis for the Monday congresses and today's "decider" NEC meeting.
The Kano meeting is to deliberate on whether to call off the strike as the NEC receives reports of the congresses that held "simultaneously" in all the universities across the country. Local chapters of ASUU had held their congresses on Monday to vote on the suspension or otherwise.
The said agreement, which necessitated the subsisting July 1 action, required that the Federal Government will, within a period of five years, release more than N1trn, to bridge the noticeable infrastructural deficits in the nation's ivory towers. Also, the Federal Government would have released N92bn, for what the union christened, "earned allowance."
However, ASUU seems to have a moral burden now as the Federal Government said it had released over N30bn as part of the contentious earned allowance. Last week's meeting of the Fagge-led ASUU with President Jonathan at the Presidential Villa, prompted positive steps by ASUU towards ending the strike.
At the meeting, President Jonathan was said to have pledged government's readiness to release N220bn in next year's budget and in subsequent appropriations.
Meanwhile, the University of Jos, UNIJOS, chapter of the union explained its support for the continuation of the ongoing strike. After considering the outcome of the meeting which the union's national body had with President Jonathan, members of the branch had last Monday voted in favour of the continuation of the four month- old strike.
The UNIJOS branch of ASUU said the meeting with the President achieved nothing, a position which had also been condemned by some stakeholders The Branch Chairman, Dr. David Jangkham, said yesterday in Jos, the Plateau State capital, that his members were compelled to take the stand because of the government's insensitivity to their plight.

#CODED-ish News:: UNIJOS ASUU Soften Their Stance, Ready to End Strike

The University of Jos (UNIJOS) chapter of the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU), who voted against ending the 135-day strike, states it will resume classes, if directed by the national body. The Chapter's Chairman, Dr. David Jangdam, said this in Jos on November 12, 2013 Tuesday.
ASUU's central body is expected to meet in Kano on November 13, 2013, Wednesday, to take a final decision on whether or not to end the strike after collating resolutions from various local branches who considered the offer by President Goodluck Jonathan during their congresses on Monday.
President Jonathan had made the offers toward ending the strike during a meeting with the striking lecturers who are seeking better funding for the universities and improved welfare packages for the teaching staff.
Dr. Jangdam told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Jos that the decision of the national body was final and binding on all local chapters.
"Even the strike was not supported by all the universities. Many local chapters of ASUU opposed it, but majority wanted it and we embarked on it," he said.
He explained that ASUU's decisions were usually from bottom-to-top with representatives at meetings having to revert to the local branches before any decision would be taken.
Dr. Jangdam also rejected suggestions that the local branch's position was influenced by the internal disagreement with management over the conduct of the post-UTME examinations during the strike.
ASUU had condemned that action, and declared that the examinations were "illegal, wasteful and of no effect".
"At the congress meeting yesterday, we made it clear that no local issue will be discussed.
"Our focus was solely on the issues related to the national strike. Other local disagreements shall be tackled locally and therefore had no effect on our stance yesterday," he said.
He said that the lecturers voted against ending the strike because they did not trust the Federal Government to fulfill its promises and therefore wanted something concrete to be seen on ground before resuming classes.
Dr. Jangdam also rejected suggestions that the lecturers had not been fair to university education in the country.
"I think the questions should be if the system is fair to the educational sector; Nigerians should ask the leaders why the educational sector is usually the least in their priorities," he said.
He claimed that it was wrong for Nigerians to blame the lecturers for the bad situation in the universities, saying that the search light should rather be on those in authority that decided what should go to the ivory towers at budget planning sessions.
"Sometimes, I find the situation a bit perplexing; I wonder why should Nigerians complain about poor quality of graduates and heap the blame on the universities and the lecturers even when they know that not much attention is paid to the educational sector?," he asked.

#CODED-ish News::Former ASUU President, Iyayi Killed By Kogi Governor’s Convoy

SaharaReporters has further confirmed that Festus Iyayi, a well-known Nigerian novelist and activist academic, was killed when a car in the convoy of the Kogi State Governor, Idris Wada, rammed into his vehicle near Lokoja in Kogi State.
A police source as well as an eyewitness told SaharaReporters that Mr. Iyayi died instantly at the scene of the ghastly accident. Mr. Iyayi was on his way to Kano to attend a meeting of the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) whose members have been on strike since July. The union's meeting in Kano was called to decide on a possible calling off of the strike and a return to teaching.
With today's accident, Governor Idris has further consolidated his reputation as having one of the most reckless convoys in Nigeria where drivers attached to governors and other top officials are known for driving dangerously. In late December 2012, Governor Idris's convoy was also involved in a deadly accident that claimed the life of his aide de camp. Mr. Idris was hospitalized at the National Hospital, Abuja where he was treated for serious injuries.
In a brief telephone conversation today, Kogi's Deputy Governor, Yomi Awoniyi, confirmed that the governor's convoy was involved in an accident earlier today. But Mr. Awoniyi said he had not obtained the details of how the accident happened, telling our correspondent that he was away in Uyo, capital of Akwa Ibom State, on official duty.
In the early and mid-1980s, Mr. Iyayi broke out of the confines of his academic discipline and emerged as one of Nigeria's most radical writers with such novels as Heroes, Violence, and The Contract.
Mr. Iyayi studied economics and business management in the old Soviet Union as well as in the UK, and became a career-long professor of business at the University of Benin (UNIBEN).
A fearless, outspoken member of ASUU, he was at one time a leader of the union's chapter at UNIBEN before becoming the group's national leader in 1986 during the dictatorship of General Ibrahim Babangida. In the early 90s he was elected as the President of the Committee for the Defence of Human rights (CDHR).
His death will be seen as the biggest individual casualty of ASUU's prolonged strike as well as the history of accidents caused by the deranged driving by convoys traveling with Nigerian state governors.
ASUU President Nasir Fagge confirmed his death to SaharaReporters. He said the sad news was broken to the union a few hours ago.
A lawyer in Abuja told SaharaReporters that he hoped Mr. Iyayi's family would sue Governor Idris for failing to restrain the recklessness of drivers attached to his convoy. "This madness by the convoys of governors will not stop until citizens affected by it start rising to say a big no," the lawyer said.

#CODED-ish Gist:: Prostitute Reveals Size Of Justin Bieber’s Manhood

Los Angeles – A woman claims to have spent a "delicious" night with Justin Bieber.

The 19-year-old pop star hit the headlines last week for frequenting famous brothel Centaurus during his visit to Brazil and trying to make a sneaky exit by hiding under a sheet.

Further allegations about the Baby singer's wild antics abroad have now emerged, as a prostitute from Le Palace nightclub in Panama has come forward to claim she shared a night of passion with the teen heartthrob.

The woman told CRITICA.com: "It was delicious. It was super delicious, because not every day do you get to be with someone famous, especially someone like him. He's a love of a man! A cutie patootie!"

Probed about the size of a certain part of Justin's anatomy, she revealed it was "average".

Justin's team vehemently denied claims

The mystery woman says the star and his entourage picked out 10 prostitutes to take back to his hotel, and she earned $500 from the alleged hour-long x-rated encounter with Justin.

She explained: "They took us in their car to the hotel. There was so much emotion, it was incredible. I wanted to do everything with him. I did everything!

"We left the hotel around 05:00. He gave me $500 because I was the one that got with him. He gave all of us concert tickets."This comes after a woman named Gaby del Campo posted a picture of a wad of money on Twitter last week, writing, "Thanks @justinbieber for the fresh dolla bills. (sic)"

Justin's team vehemently denied claims he had paid for a prostitute at the time, insisting the woman was one of 50 people the singer invited to a property he was renting for an after-party.

#CODED-ish News:: Pasuma In MURDER Scandal

One of Nigeria's most prominent Fuji musicians, Wasiu Alabi Odetola, popularly known as Pasuma Wonder is currently enmeshed in a murder mess.
From all indications, the Fuji veteran who recently celebrated 20 years on stage may be on his way into police net if matters are not well handled. Eye witnesses are saying that a member of the convoy of the Fuji star over-ran a teenage fan after Pasuma's vehicle knocked down the victim on their way from a show at Idimu-Council area of Alimosho Local Government Area of Lagos State.
The victim, Bidemi, a 12-year old fan of the 'Orobokibo' singer is said to have been lurking around to get a glimpse of the star as he was leaving the St. Augustine Events Hall, Isheri-Idimu where the show took place only to lose his life in the process. 'Pasuma was trying to avoid the area boys as he was leaving and so he was driving fast and it happened that he knocked the boy down and the vehicle behind him ran over the boy', an eye witness said.
Continue After The Break...............

Pasuma is said to have been driving in his newly acquired Range Rover Sports and did not bother to slow down to find out what had happened. 'He sped off without caring', another eye witness said.
But the singer's minders insist he's innocent and absolutely unaware of what happened after he left the event venue. Those close to Pasuma said he wasn't initially aware of the situation and that the decease may have been hit by a random car coming behind the musician.
Investigations reveal that 'Paso', as the singer is fondly called in the streets was trying to avoid the area boys who were desperate to extort him. It has become an accepted tradition in the Fuji industry, for Fuji artistes who perform in an area to 'settle' the area boys because they form the largest percentage of their fan base.
Pasuma according to a few 'area boys' who were at the scene of the incident said the self- acclaimed Oganla of Fuji is fond of not 'settling' the area boys and it was in this bid to avoid being extorted that led to the untimely death of the teenager.
'Paso no dey like to settle. Na because e no wan settle make am drive fast like that', one of the area boys said.
Other sources say he actually tipped fans and some miscreants, but like Oliver Twist, some camps wanted more and the musician sped off after he had had enough. Speaking in a telephone conversation, Pasuma's manager, Afolabi Oyekoya refused to confirm or deny the allegations. He was yet to issue an official statement as at press time, and NET enquiries were left unanswered.
The family of the victim could not be reached for comment. Our correspondents' visit to the St. Augustine Events Centre, venue of the show did not yield results as the management refused to comment on the incident.
All efforts to get the police officers at Idimu Police Station Area M also proved abortive, as the officers refused to entertain any questions and directed that we referred the inquiry to the office of the Police Public Relations Officer, PPRO, whose number was switched off at the time.
Pasuma is not the first celebrity to be involved in a hit and run. Years ago, the current president of the Actors' Guild of Nigeria, Ibinabo Fiberesima was arrested and imprisoned for killing a Lagos doctor. About 120 chapters of the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) held congresses at the various institutions and voted to suspend the strike, but insisted that the federal government begins to fulfil its promises immediately.
The vote is expected to be ratified by the national executive council of ASUU at a meeting scheduled for tomorrow.
ASUU executives will then meet with President Goodluck Jonathan the next day where the deal will be affirmed and the strike called off thereafter.
ASUU has been on strike since July over government's inability to implement an agreement signed in 2009 aimed at improving infrastructure and human capital.
However, during recent negotiations, President Goodlcuk Jonathan agreed to provide N1.3tr in the next six years and the balance of N62bn earned allowance to each university.
Reports from ABU Zaria, Bayero University Kano and the Uthman Danfodio University yesterday said that the lecturers were willing to resume work, but urged the federal government to live up to its pledges.
But at the University of Jos, the ASUU members voted in favour of continuation of the strike for the reason that the meeting between the national leadership of the union and President Goodluck Jonathan last week did not achieve anything meaningful.
In a vote to that effect, 194 members voted for the strike to be sustained while 80 voted in favour of a suspension.
Addressing the congress in ABU Zaria, ASUU chairman of the chapter, Dr. Muhammad Kabir Aliyu, said his members would agree to call off the industrial action on condition that President Jonathan pays all the financial commitments he has made to the universities for this year.
"In ABU, we have agreed with the shift in the timetable where the federal government would make available N220bn each year for the next six years. They (FG) said they are going to open a special account with the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) for that purpose.
"However, members gave a condition that all the money promised for this year must be made available and accessible by the universities. This includes the N200b promised for the universities this year and the balance of the N62b earned allowances for various university staff," Dr. Aliyu said.
From Usmanu Danfodiyo University Sokoto, Secretary of the chapter, Malam Bashir Muhammed Achida, said ASUU members there unanimously voted to end the strike during their meeting at the main campus of the university.
"We all voted in favour of calling off the strike as a sign of respect to President Goodluck Jonathan. We were moved by the kind of commitment he had shown during hours of meeting with him last week," he said.
On the modality used at reaching the decision, he said the issue was put to vote and that all members agreed that the strike should be suspended.
"By God's grace, it would be over by Thursday or Friday so that normal activities would resume at campuses by next Monday," he said.
At the Bayero University Kano, hundreds of ASUU members decided to accept the offer of the federal government. Our correspondent gathered that lecturers at the BUK held a meeting at the old site of the institution yesterday where the government's offer was discussed.
A senior lecturer said the meeting was attended by over 300 lecturers from all the campuses of the institution and lasted for four hours with the lecturers deliberating on the offer.
When contacted on phone, the chairman of ASUU, BUK chapter, Comrade Mahmud Lawal confirmed that the meeting was held but that the outcome was not for the public.
"Yes we had a meeting but it is not meant for you the press or the public. It is for our national leadership. There was nothing like voting at the meeting on the ongoing strike," he said in the interview.
However, ASUU members at the University of Jos said after hours of debate by those for and against the strike, it was obvious that the meeting with President Jonathan did not achieve much.
Those who spoke in favour of the strike to continue wondered why the strike should be called off on the basis of pleas and verbal promises by President Jonathan when the government 'is reputed for not honouring agreements'.
They were said to have argued that the suffering by students and members in the last four months would be a waste if something concrete did not come out of the strike to improve the situation in universities.
However, those who want the strike to be ended spoke passionately on the need to consider the impact of the strike on students and the gesture from President Jonathan who met personally with ASUU leaders and pleaded with them to suspend the strike.
The chairman of the Unijos chapter of ASUU, Dr. David Jangkham who announced the result of the meeting said the national body which would collate the referendum from various chapters will come up with a stand on whether the strike would be suspended or sustained.
The national body of the union is billed to sit at a National Executive Council meeting tomorrow to consider the positions of the various chapters and take a decision.
