Fight in Ukraine Parliament Over Official Use of Russian Language

No be only Nigeria fit fight for house of assembly sef!!...lol..... Oh boy, see fight oooh. Deputies exchanged blows during a session in the chamber of the Ukrainian parliament in Kiev yesterday Thursday May 24th.
The fight started after opposition deputies staged an action against the bill about the basics of the language policy.

5 GTBank Employees Arrested For Attempted Robbery

The Lagos State Police Command has apprehended 11 armed robbery suspects including five workers of Guaranty Trust Bank.

One of the workers, a senior marketing executive of the bank’s branch in Gbagada, is currently being interrogated by detectives at the state’s Special Anti-Robbery Squad.

According to reports made available to PUNCH Metro, the senior marketing executive allegedly conspired with two security personnel of the bank and two other staff to perpetrate the robbery of a customer who was to deposit some money running into millions of naira.

The bank workers were said to have invited one Sadiq, believed by the police to be a notorious armed robber in the state, who in turn invited six other members of his gang.

The gang allegedly procured guns in Lagos and ordered for more from Edo State.

The robbery was foiled when policemen through intelligence report got information of the planned robbery. The policemen stormed the bank premises incognito on the day the robbery was to take place.

It was learnt that one of the suspects had told the police that their weapons including two pistols were already concealed in the bank’s Computer Central Processing Unit with plans to use them on the day of the robbery.

The robbers who pretended to be customers of the bank had dressed in suits while Sadiq wore a kaftan. But they did not know that plain-clothed policemen had cordoned off the area while some other policemen were in the banking hall.

A police source said, “The suspected robbers got more than what they expected when detectives rounded them up and whisked them to the state police command headquarters.”

One of the suspects further confessed that the bank’s marketing executive gave them money to procure the arms and ammunition.

The Police Public Relations Officer, Mr. Joseph Jaiyeoba, confirmed the arrest in a telephone interview with our correspondent on Wednesday.

He, however, said further investigations were still ongoing with a view of ensuring that all those connected with the incident were arrested.

Jaiyeoba said, “The employees of the bank that were arrested were actually four in number. They planned with the security guard who then recruited armed robbers for them.

“The security guard’s job was to plant the guns inside the CPU of the computer so that when the armed robbers came in, they would be able to enter as normal customers.

“The robbers planned to rob after closing hours when customers were no longer allowed access into the banking hall. The commander, MOPOL 2, was able to get wind of the plan and led his team to the bank.

“They arrested the security guard who later confessed and gave his accomplices up. Meanwhile, investigations are ongoing.”

Mysterious Snake Appears In a Lagos Bus

The discovery of a snake inside a moving commercial bus caused commotion and left commuters scampering for safety on Wednesday in Lagos, the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports.

Eyewitnesses told NAN that the Nissan Civilian bus, with registration number AJ 802 AKD, suddenly pulled to a halt on Apapa road on the Lagos Mainland, as frightened passengers rushed out for safety.

One of the bus passengers told NAN that she raised the alarm on sighting the snake which was aboard the bus heading for Okokomaiko, a Lagos suburb.

“I was sitting in the back and noticed something moving around my feet. I checked to look at what it was and I saw it was a snake,” said the female passenger who pleaded anonymity.

NAN reports that other passengers and passersby attempted to kill the snake but only succeeded in chopping off its tail before hiding itself in a compartment inside the bus.

All efforts aimed at removing the remainder of the snake from the bus compartment continued when NAN left the scene as both the bus driver and his conductor had abandoned the vehicle.

BBA STARGAME UPDATE: Prezzo and Goldie Fight

Prezzo had a go at Goldie in the morning charging her for taking him for granted.

The two love birds have been stuck to each other like glue for a good part of their stay in the House, but there's trouble in paradise.

"You think I'm a beanbag, just be real with yourself," Prezzo said. Goldie couldn't believe her ears and tried justifying herself but Prezzo would not stop.

"Do you have a goldfish memory? I'm not a kid so don't treat me like one," Prezzo said. He complained about how they have both been continuously worrying about each other and striving to make their lives better in the House. "It's getting to our heads."

Meanwhile, Prezzo had a one on one with Zainab about his relationship with Goldie during the wee hours of the morning.
Prezzo told her that Goldie was insecure and he didn't understand why. Zainab was more concerned about how the couple will survive outside StarGame with all the insecurities.
"At the end of the day, I'm here for my own reasons," Prezzo boldly concluded.

Obasanjo presidency, a rogue regime, says CNPP

The Conference of Nigerian Political Parties, CNPP, Thursday, descended heavily on former President Olusegun Obasanjo accusing him of presiding over the most rogue regime ever in the country, where the nation’s treasury was blatantly looted, with reckless withdrawal of funds from the treasury without appropriation.

The CNPP in a statement in Abuja by its National Publicity Secretary, Mr. Osita Okechukwu, while reacting to Chief Obasanjo’s remarks, describing State Houses of Assembly and National Assembly members as rogues and armed robbers, vowed that former President will never escape his atrocities committed against Nigerians.

The CNPP however said it is not holding brief for either the National Assembly, the State Assemblies or the Judiciary; but now that Chief Obasanjo has cast the first stone, we challenge him to render account of his rogue regime.

TUC rejects new electricity tariffs

TOP government functionaries had a tough time selling the new electricity tariffs regime to Labour leaders yesterday at a town-hall meeting in Abuja where President of the Trade Union Congress, Peter Esele, shredded the proposal.

Curiously though, the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) was conspicuously absent from the forum, which had Minister of Power, Prof. Barth Nnaji, his Labour and Productivity counterpart, Emeka Wogu, Minister of State for Power, Darius Ishaku and Chairman, Nigeria Electricity Regulatory Commission (NERC), Dr. Sam Amadi, leading government’s charge.

Esele listed several fault lines in the proposed tariffs regime, concluding that the Federal Government had again put the cart before the horse in conceiving and implementing the policy.

For instance, the TUC president queried the rush to implement the new tariffs against the backdrop of erratic power supply nationwide.

He also faulted the argument that the new tariffs would make the power sector attractive to prospective investors, stressing that the same polemics had been deployed in not too distant past to vote billions of dollars to the power sector, which funds went down the drain.

Esele submitted that Nigerians would not pay for the illegality that the planned increment represented.

Truck driver sent to jail for obstructing Gov Fashola's convoy

A truck driver, David Abiodun, 31, has been remanded in prison custody for allegedly obstructing the motorcade of Governor Babatunde Fashola on the Lekki-Epe Expressway.

While being arraigned before an Igbosere Magistrate’s Court on a five-count charge of dangerous and reckless driving, the police alleged that Abiodun used his Mack truck to block an entire lane on the expressway for unjustifiable reasons and in the process prevented Fashola and his convoy from having easy passage to their destination.

9ICE MAKES NOLLYWOOD DEBUT

Nigerian singer Abolore Adegbola Akande, aka 9ice, is gradually considering acting as a second career, as he takes the lead role in Laide Bakare‘s new flick ‘Jejere‘ (Tumour).
According to Bakare, ‘The film, which is produced by Sim Line International, is about an African hero that saved his environment‘. In the film, which was shot in three weeks, 9ice plays a husband and father.
9ice spoke with NET about his role; ‘I played Dele, who had a bad experience in his first marriage [with] the sudden demise of his wife and he was left alone to cater for his little daughter‘.
The ‘Gongo Aso’ singer said the challenges were quite different from what he’s been through in the music industry, but that he enjoyed the experience. ‘I learnt a whole lot; most importantly the cast on set becomes a unified entity after several days on set together and I’m sure that’s why we have some level of commitment, togetherness, decency and respect in the acting sector of our entertainment industry‘.
‘Being the first time on set, I have to act, cry when nothing is actually wrong with me, laugh when nothing is really funny. I also have to depict this character in the presence of others. It is a privilege to be part of ‘Jejere’ and I look forward to the premiere‘ he continued.
When asked if he would like to take on acting as a new career, 9ice said ‘If the pay is right with good content and the standard is on point, why not?’
Other actors in the movie include Emeka Ike, Oby Alex O, Fathia Balogun, Akin Lewis, Ebun Oloyede, and Bakare herself
When released, the movie will be premiered in several Nigerian cities.

Students that applied for admission into FUTA should begin preparations for the FUTA Post UTME screening for UTME and Direct Entry candidates which is set to hold between 6th June to 9th June, 2012.

This is to inform candidates who chose Federal University of Akure (FUTA) as their first choice and/or second choices that the date for the post-jamb/utme for the 2012/2013 academic year is out. FUTA has fixed 200 as the cut off mark for this year’s post utme. The post utme is to hold between June 6th to June 9th . It is going to be a computer based screening examination.

Candidates who made FUTA their first and/or second choices are also invited for the computer based screening exercise on Saturday, 9th of June 2012.

Subsidy Probe: Madueke Blames Dead Yar’Adua

The Minister of Petroleum Resources, Mrs. Diezani Alison-Madueke on Tuesday said the Hon. Farouk Lawal led ad- hoc committee that probed the oil subsidy was unfair to her since it was the late President Umar Yar’Adua who refused to punish the former minister of Petroleum Resources, Dr. Rilwan Lukman, for not complying with his directive on the removal of kerosene subsidy in June 2009.

She said the House of Representatives was unfair to have accused her and President Goodluck Jonathan of not complying with the law that has nothing to do with them.

Fulani Herdsmen Attack Village, Kill Head, Injures Others

Tragedy struck gain in Riyom Local Government Area of Plateau State on Monday when a village head was killed and several others injured by people suspected to be Fulani herdsmen.

Nigerian Tribune learnt that the suspected herdsmen sneaked into Nangam village in the local government area in the early hours of Monday and released several gunshots into the air before descending on the inhabitants of the village.

Many were injured while the village head was shot at close range.

A member of Plateau State House of Assembly who hails the the constituency, Hoourable Daniel Dem, confirmed the incident which he described as unfortunate and unwarranted.

He noted that the attack had been on for a very long time despite the heavy presence of military men in the area.

Speaking with newsmen on the frequent killings in his constituency, the senator representing Plateau North, Senator Gyang Dangtong, observed that the renewed ethnic violence in the zone had led to the destruction of life and property and declaration of emergency rule.

According to him, close to 5,000 people had been displaced as a result of the incessant Fulani attacks, adding that the majority of them were in the neighbouring Kaduna and Nasarawa states.

In a related development, a group, christened Berom Development Association, in a press statement made available to the Nigerian Tribune and signed by its national president, Francis Jamang, described the attacks as a deliberate effort to reduce the population of their people and to wipe out highly skilled industrious and able bodied sons of the land and to frighten them out of their inheritance.

AUTHORITIES of the University of Ibadan (UI) have slated the re-opening of the premier university for Sunday, May 27 and the resumption of academic activities for Monday, May 28.

In an advertorial signed by the registrar of the institution, Olujimi Olu-koya, the management of the university said the resumption followed the restoration of municipal services like water and electricity to the school.

Giving a current situation report in the tertiary institution, the registrar said power situation had been improved upon.

The release said the Power Holding Company of Nigeria (PHCN) would complete its task on installations at Shasha substation on June 8

According to him, the authorities of the university had also fixed a generating set at the water treatment plant in the school, to aid free flow of water, while boreholes had been sunk in designated areas, in addition to the water tankers being made functional.

. See him posing in suit with that ‘horrible’ fine face, lol, lazy man. We got hold of some of his Facebook chat with a young female he tried to swindle. The girl was smart enough to know he was lying and accused him of it, after few weeks. The next thing he did was to quickly block her. Read some of his cheap tricks, may be not too cheap though, lol. By the way, the pictures he used on the particular Facebook account, Oladipupo Otedola looks like a stolen internet pic, lol....

Comedy as Church Elder Fights over Girlfriend During Church Service

There was chaos at an apostolic church in Victoria Falls when an elder was involved in a fist fight over allegations of snatching a church mate's girlfriend.

A source who witnessed the incident said church business came to a halt when Maxwell Sibanda traded blows with Elder John Mazvito whom he suspected was having an affair with his girlfriend. However, it could not be established if the allegations were true.

"It seems Sibanda had an intention of humiliating Elder Mazvito whom he suspected was going out with his girlfriend. He approached Mazvito when they were in church. At first church members thought Sibanda had a special announcement to give. He then told the church pastor that Mazvito had snatched his girlfriend who also happens to be a church member of the church," said the source.

It is reported that Sibanda's approach did not go down too well with Mazvita who later started insulting him, accusing him of blackmailing him. Sibanda then attacked Mazvito with fists before other church members stopped the fight.

"Our church service was turned into an ugly scene by the two members as they insulted each other before they exchanged (massive) blows," said the source.

When we spoke to Sibanda, he CONFIRMED the incident saying: "The war is far from being over. I am going to rest after having properly dealt with the corrupt guy. He destroyed my three-year-old relationship and I am going to deal with him."

On the other hand, Elder Mazvito refused to comment. He only said: "Let who ever told you that story tell you everything."

However, the pastor of the church claimed he was attending a Wedding last Sunday and did not attend church service, referring this reporter to the vice chairman of the church who refused to comment on the matter.

The pre-launch radio party held on the 11th of May, 2012 at Y fm with different celebrities from Nigeria & Ghana representing; R2Bees, Olamide, Wizkid, Solid Star, Weird MC, Dee Moneey, DJ Neptune, Tiffany, and J. Martins.

Things kicked off at 10pm and almost 2,000 music fans got to rock with their favorite stars like Dbanj, Dblack, Skales, Tariah Basorge, Amaka Abebrese, Zigi, Itz Tiffany and Olamide. Performances by Wizkid, R2Bees, YQ, and Raquel. The rocking did not stop till 5am the next morning.

Special guests of the night were Dele Momodu, Iyiola CEO Ghone, Bola Ray.

It was a night Ghana will never forget.
