CODED-ish News::Police massacred EMACOED students in Oyo Town

Wednesday,17th July,was known as yet another "bloody" day in the history of EMACOED(Emmanuel Alayande College Of Education,Oyo) were not fewer than 2 students were reported to have lost their lives during a protest.

Emmanuel Alayande College of Education, Oyo which has now turned to an hunting ground which police officers shots students like animals and arrests many of them while trying to escape the onslaught of the policemen! The crisis was as a result of hike in school fees for both degree and NCE's students! As at time of this report,at least two students have been shot dead while three are critically battling to stay alive! Many of the students are being arrested arbitrarily from their hostels to the garrage!

Is there any hope for common man in Nigeria?

CODED-ish News::PayPal Mistakenly Credits Man With $92 Quadrillion

We've heard of going from rags to riches before, and in Monopoly, we'd occasionally pluck the "Bank Error" card from the Community Chest and collect $200. But even winning the lottery doesn't come close to the good fortune that temporarily befell Chris Reynolds, a Delaware County resident who went to bed with no money in his PayPal account and awoke to find that a $92 quadrillion credit.

"I'm just feeling like a million bucks," Reynolds said in a statement, according to Philly.com. "At first I thought that I owed quadrillions. It was quite a big surprise."

It was also a short lived one. This was an obvious error on PayPal's part, and unlike Monopoly, you don't get to go around the board with your newfound riches while the bank shrugs off the error. PayPal corrected its enormous mistake, returning Reynolds' account balance back to $0 instead of $92,233,720,368,547,800 that it had been.

Still, it was nice to dream, and had the unusually large money transfer stayed in his account, Reynolds planned to pay the national debt (a mere $16.7 trillion currently) and then acquire the Phillies baseball team, assuming he could negotiate "a great price."

CODED-ish News::Deeper Life Pastor Defiles 2 Under-aged Girls

A Nigerian Pastor with Deeper life Bible Church, Abudu, in Orhiomnwon Local Government Area, Eze Fidels, has been paraded by the Edo State Command of the Nigerian Police for defiling two underaged girls.

Pastor Fidelis was said to have lured the two girls, aged six, into his room after sending them on an errand. The police claimed he had carnal knowledge of them before dismissing them.

Father of one of the girls who noticed the unusual way his daughter was walking when she got home, obtained confession from her, which led to the arrest of the paedophile pastor.

Eze who confessed to the act, said he had actually defiled two other minors, both of them 11 years old sometimes this year, but said he was tempted by evil spirit to commit the act.

“I am really ashamed of myself particularly as a Pastor. I have been a Pastor at Deeper Life for over six years but I was tempted to defile these girls. They are always visiting me, so this particularly day I defiled both of them,” he said.

Teachers at Nashongo and Makaba primary schools in Siavonga have threatened to abandon the schools for fear of witchcraft, Zambia.

The teachers have packed their belongings in readiness for departure if the wizards and witches continue with their acts.

Chief Sinadambwe of the Tonga-speaking people confirmed this on wednesday. The traditional leader said the teachers have complained of sleepless nights and bad dreams allegedly caused by wizards and witches.

A female student has been expelled and six others suspended from school for holding a prayer meeting after school hours at a Lagos public school, Gaskiya Senior College, Badia, Lagos by the school authorities.

The students, who are executive officers of Christian Students Union in the school, were also allegedly branded as cultists by the principal of the school, Mrs. Shobowale.

The affected students were among the 12 students who were holding the prayer meeting when the school principal instructed them to vacate the school premises. While the other five students were allowed to sit for their Senior School Certificate Examination under strict conditions, the affected students were either suspended or expelled from the school.

#CODED-ish News: Man Beaten, Castrated After Marrying Girl Without Parents Consent

A man was admitted into a Aley hospital after being beaten and castrated for having married a woman without her parents' consent.

The man, identified as Rabih A.A. from Akkar's Harar, was rushed into Qabr Shamoun's Western Shahar Hospital after the attackers severely beat him and cut off his genitals.

He was later transferred to a Beirut hospital. The victim had eloped with the woman several weeks earlier, and they wedded before a Sheikh despite the disapproval of the woman's family, who are residents of a Aley town.

The newspaper explained that on Monday, the man received a phone call from his new wife's parents who claimed they wanted to reconcile with him, and they agreed to have dinner together.

However, after the meal, the woman's relatives abducted the man and took him to a deserted area in a Mount Lebanon town, where they beat him till he lost consciousness.

A she-goat at Dawodu Area, Islamic village, Ilorin has allegedly given birth to three kids, one of which has two heads.

A witness who spoke on the condintion of anonymity, said she heard the goat bleating loudly at about 4am but thought it was the handiwork of night marauders who often come around to steal goats but she was later compelled to come out when the bleating persisted, to find the goat trying to deliver.

She said she went back to sleep only to come out the next morning to discover the goat with the strange kid, which later died leaving the other two.

#ASUU STRIKE::ASUU,Ibadan Branch,reluctant to call off strike

The Ibadan Zone of the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) will not call off its strike until the Federal Government meets the union’s demands, according to the Zonal Coordinator, Dr Adesola Nassir.

Nassir stated the union’s stance at a news conference at the University of Lagos (UNILAG) on Wednesday.
The union embarked on a nationwide indefinite strike on July 1 over claims that the Federal Government had failed to implement parts of the agreement they signed in 2009.

“We as members of the ASUU Ibadan Zone, comprising University of Ibadan, University of Lagos, Olabisi Onabanjo University, Lagos State University, University of Agriculture, Abeokuta, and Tai Solarin University of Education, have resolved to remain on strike.

The reasons for the decadence experienced in our nation over time has been traced to the ill-fated leadership style practiced by our leaders, even the young ones who are very guilty of this still make haste to condemn their senior colleagues of the same offences they are guilty of. I have also come to realize that followership has also been our major problem because we keep mute when we are supposed to talk; thereby making our leaders think they are invisible and untouchable, indeed people get the kind of leaders they deserve. This piece is not in any way meant to cause political unrest in our dear Students’ Union but to awaken our reasoning to the facts that we have all decided to shun our faces to. ASUU STRIKE::300-Level Students Can’t Write a simple Letter – ASUU

The Academic Staff Union of Universities on Monday decried the level of decay in Nigerian universities, saying 200 and 300 level students could not write ordinary letters.

The Chairman of the Ahmadu Bello University branch, Dr. Mohammed Aliyu, stated this while addressing a news conference in Zaria, Kaduna State.

He said, “It is disheartening to note that students in 200, even 300 level cannot write ordinary letters. This has shown how poor our education standard is.”

Until June 23, not many could have suspected that all was not well between Emeka Agu, 28, and his pregnant girlfriend, Miss Bidemi Akinsolufe. That night, disaster struck in their home in Ayobo area of Lagos, as Emeka allegedly set his lover ablaze.

The reason? To prevent the lady from charming other men with her beauty. Nearly a month after, Bidemi still writhes in pain at the Gbagada General Hospital, even as Emeka awaits his date with the law. The reporter met the badly burnt lady on her hospital bed and she narrated what led to the sad incident.

After 81 days of inactivity, polytechnic students across the country are expected to return to their classrooms as the Academic Staff Union of Polytechnics (ASUP) suspends its strike today.

The ASUP Chairman, Dr. Chibuzor Asumogba, told Vanguard in a phone interview that the decision was made by the National Executive Committee of the Union as a result of the intervention of the Joint committee of the Senate and House of Representative on Education.

He said the union gave the government representatives one month to accede to their demands and release the white paper on the visitation panel to federal polytechnics.

The ASUP Chairman however, called on all lecturers to go back to work. “All lecturers are to resume work at their various institutions today”, He said.

Welcome to a weird church where animals are freely slaughtered for sacrifice. As you step into this place of worship, you are confronted with the sight of a spot on the right that will make you conclude that you may have strayed into a slaughterhouse.

Even though insinuations of a slaughterhouse stick out starkly and grisly, this is by no means an abattoir. There is neither buying and selling of meat in this worship centre called As God Said, It Must Done, The Temple of The Most High God.

An evangelist at the church explained that the spot is called the ‘Earth Altar’ and that it’s where different types of sacrifices are offered unto God.

Located on a street named after it, Off Fakunle Street, Oke-Aro in Ogun State, a suburb near Lagos, the church is neither Pentecostal nor orthodox. All the same, both the shepherd and the sheep are strongly convinced that they are serving the living God the right way.

Poor women have been exploited at their most vulnerable time by a hospital that charged them $5 every time they screamed during child birth.

The shocking discovery was made by a U.S. group that campaigns against corruption, as it released its annual Global Corruption Barometer.

At the hospital in Zimbabwe, one of the poorest countries in the world, the fine was said to be for 'raising a false alarm', according to Transparency International.

Women who were unable to pay the fine were allegedly kept in the hospital until their families could pay. Interest was also added to the fines, according to the Washington Post.

Many mothers already avoid hospital deliveries in the African nation because of the $50 cost, which is about the third of the average $150 income.

In a country where nearly 95 per cent of the population is unemployed after years of economic turmoil and corruption under President Mugabe, and where one in eight women die in childbirth every day, the fines could rob a woman of a year's salary.

A survey of Zimbabweans found 65 per cent believed the country's medical services to be corrupt.

When Transparency International contacted Zimbabwe's deputy prime minister, he ordered an investigation and since then no further reports of fines have been made. However, the $50 delivery charge remains.

The campaign group has now set up workshops in Zimbabwe to raise awareness about corruption and show citizens how to record officials demanding bribes so they can provide evidence to the courts.

Mysterious:Nigerian baby born with rosary around her neck(Photo)

Thousands of people trooped to a private maternity home in Kotaworo area of Bida, in Niger state on Sunday to catch a glimpse of a baby girl said to have been delivered with a Muslim prayer Rosary (Tasabih) on her neck.

The middle aged mother of the baby, Adijat was said to have been rushed to a local midwife home near the residence of Pa Mohammed Bello Masaba, the Polygamist at about 2 pm on Sunday and after minutes of labour, she was delivered of the baby.

According the owner of the local maternity home, Alhaji Abubakar Baiwa Shasha who took delivery of the baby, “I was shocked when in the course of the delivery the baby came with a Chisbih on her neck. The baby was born with a black rosary at delivery point.”

“But I was surprised when after a while the rosary turned to white to the amazement of the few people around.”

As soon as the news spread round the town, thousands trooped to the the maternity home shouting “Allahu Akibar; Allahu Akibar (God is Great) as they scrambled to see and touch the baby. ”

Efforts made to contact the father of the baby, Isah, a native of Loma in Kwara State were fruitless as he refused to talk to reporters

Few meters from the Military cantonment near Maryland Bus stop in Lagos; policemen collaborate with Lagos State Traffic Management Authotrity (LASTMA) officials to arbitrarily stop commercial buses and force passengers to disembark without giving any reason for doing so.

In this video, passengers asked to know why they are stopped but the police, because the policemen had no reason to give, they threatened to 'handle' them as a response to their question.

Arbitrarily, policeman also threatened to take one of the resolute passengers where he 'would not like'. This is an example of how the Nigerian police treats citizens with a reckless show of power.Drop your comment..

The Lagos State Police Command has arrested a woman, Mrs Aminot Otun, for roasting the right hand of her seven-year-old step-son, Awwal Otun, last Thursday.

Awwal’s hand was allegedly roasted for adding drops of liquid disinfectant to his bath water.

According to Ngozi Ekwerike-Okoro, President, Child to Child Network, a Non Governmental Organisation, NGO, a distressed call from one of Otun’s neighbours at 59, Suenu Street, Surulere, Lagos saved Awwal’s life.

Awwal was rushed to the Mother and Child Hospital at Gbaja where another drama ensued as the doctor on duty refused to treat or admit the boy despite pleas that the hospital was built purposely for mothers and children in the state.

According to his teachers, Awwal, who is in primary one, should not be allowed to go back to his step-mother because he is always coming to school with bruises as the neighbours who pleaded anonymity said that had been the normal punishment for the boy’s mistakes.

Awwal was later taken to a nearby private hospital for treatment and he is currently at Juvenile Welfare Centre of Alakara Police Station.

ASUU STRIKE UPDATE:: ASUU, SENATE AND F.G MEETING ENDS IN DEADLOCK AS STRIKE CONTINUES

The negotiations among the Senate, the Federal government and the leadership of the Academic Staff Union of Universities, ASUU over the ongoing industrial action embarked by universities lecturers ended without parties reaching any compromise.

Unfortunately this is not rumour, it's fact. A little over a year after tying the knot with Kehinde Oloyede, Funke Akindele's marriage has ended. Kehinde Oloyede shared the news of their split on his Facebook page (which he has since deleted). He wrote:
"It's with heavy heart that am announcing the separation of me nd ma wife Mrs olufunke akindele,we've both agreed to go our separate ways coz of irreconcilable differences.we still best of friends nd we 4ever remain gud friends.
Later he added...
"Am doing just fine, gettn along without u,don't need u anymore in ma life.u d greatest mistake av made in recent time.
I reached out to Funke's publicist after reading the Facebook message, and they confirmed that the two have indeed gone their separate ways (for now). They've actually been having issues for a while and Funke had actually been planning to divorce him quietly, but Mr Oloyede decided to make it public

Funke also recently changed her BB name from Mrs Funke Akindele Oloyede to Everybody loves Jenifa. Funke and Kehinde got married on Saturday May 26th 2012.

#CODED-ish News: OAU Releases Post-Utme Results, Only 44 Candidates Scored 300 And Above

Less than three hours after the conduct of its Post-UTME screening exercise of the Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife, the result was released.

The Public Relations Officer of the University, Abiodun Olarewaju, in a release, stated that out of the 12,200 candidates that wrote the examination, 44 scored 300 marks and above while 5,691 got 200 marks and above.

The exercise was based on 400 marks. According to the PRO, “three candidates, whose performance were exceptionally outstanding, are: Durotoluwa Olumide Olanrewaju, who applied to study Chemical Engineering, tops the list after scoring 332 (the highest marks of the exercise) while Soile Olufunso Adetola, who applied to study Medicine, came second after scoring 327. However, two Candidates: Odimayo Taiye Moses and Nafiu Olaniyi Oluwadamilare, who both applied to study Electrical and Electronics Engineering, scored 323 each.”

#CODED-ish News::Patience Jonathan Calls Prof Soyinka A Big Embarrassment

Mrs. Patience Jonathan and the President Goodluck Jonathan's special assistant on Political Matters, Ahmed Gulak, on Friday took on the Nobel Laureate, Prof. Wole Soyinka, for attributing the crisis in the Rivers State House of Assembly to Jonathan and his wife.

Mrs. Jonathan said Prof Soyinka had become an embarrassment. See her statement below:
“Unfortunately, Soyinka betrayed moral duty in his recent diatribe against Patience Jonathan. Of course, this would not be the first time he would reach out against the First Lady, usually from self-righteously indignant lecterns.

“In this particular instance, his verdict was that Mrs. Jonathan was ‘stoking the crisis currently rocking her home state of Rivers…’, and thereupon asked Mr. President to caution his wife.

“The good, old Prof reminds one of the truth that indeed, most of the giants on the street are men of like passions like everyone else. Worse still, most of them are actually standing on clay feet and would fail the test of a gentle push.

“Otherwise, who would have believed that the social, civil, constitutional and sundry rights crusader Prof would maintain a safe distance from the heart of an activity that is a potential threat to the peace, security and safety of the people of a state, then collect exaggerated stories and jaundiced perspectives from familiar propagandists and character assassins, and promptly summon the media to a “state of the nation” address.

“It’s an embarrassment to his throng of admirers and followers, that a sage of Prof. Soyinka’s status, who used to be a gauge of public morality in this nation, would lend himself to a propaganda of high drive, to save a governor who elected to launch into a river without applicable survival skills.”

Patience Jonathan claimed Soyinka was only adding to the problem when he claimed that she was Governor Amaechi’s problem.

But reacting to Dame Patience and Jonathan's aide's stands on the crises in Rivers, Chief Press Secretary to the Rivers State Governor, Mr. David Iyofor, asked:

“Was Amaechi one of the 5 lawmakers who attempted to remove the Speaker in a House of 32 members? Was Amaechi responsible for shooting teargas into the Government House?
"If Goodluck does not know what to say, it is better for him to keep quiet and allow peace to reign,” he warned.
