#CODED-ish News: NIGER DELTA UNIVERSITY TO RE-OPEN JAN 3RD

The Bayelsa government-owned Niger Delta University (NDU), Amassoma, will resume academic activities on January 6, 2014, its Registrar, Tombra Morris-Odubo, has said. The registrar made the disclosure in a statement issued in Yenagoa on Monday.

He stated that all students were expected to return to school on January 3, adding that first semester examination would commence on January 13. He noted that the university fixed the date for the resumption after its Senate reviewed the academic calendar of the institution.

According to the calendar, first semester examinations will commence one week after resumption, beginning with the Faculty of Education on January 13. Beke Tuobokiye Sese, the Chairman of the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) of the institution, said he had not been contacted on the resumption date.

He, however, said lecturers were ready and willing to return to the classroom after the five-month nationwide strike by university teachers. "We are ready for academic work so as to make up for the lost time," he said.

#CODED-ish Gist: 13 SONGS THAT ROCKED NIGERIAN CAMPUSES IN 2013

1. Limpopo- Kcee
"Oya limpopo. Baby, oya limpopo…" Kcee, a former member of the pop duo, KcPresh, certainly released the biggest song of 2013. The Del'B produced track, written by Harry song took over the airwaves and got Kcee an endorsement deal with telecoms company, MTN, and a nationwide tour with Star Music Trek, amongst other goodies.1. Sho le –

2. Gobe- Davido
Gobe almost took the shine off Sean Tizzle's 'Sho le' as the first single of the year for Omo Baba Olowo. It became an instant hit across the country and Africa. With production from usual suspect, Shizzi, Gobe instantly took over charts and dance floors for a good part of the first and second quarter of the year.

3.Caro - Starboy ft Wizkid & LAX: Love is such a beautiful story to tell and it was told exceptionally by Wizkid and fast rising Starboy act LAX in this sizzling number. Caro once again re-echeos Wizkid's penning skills. It's a stripping song about the search for a mystery girl; completely gripping listeners when it hit airwaves in August. Its a dance number that could get a DJ shot if missed in raving clubs. A beautiful performance that not only showed brilliance on the part of the acts but the transformation that happens to a song when driven by a gripping story.

4.Skelewu - Davido: [/b]This is one music that hit our airwaves lately this year, adjoined by controversies during the making of the video. It is still banging all over the nation, with new dancestep coming to replace the likes of Azonto and Etighi, in our dance preference, courtesy of O.B.O.it is unarguably the biggest song of 2013

5. Ada Ada- Flavour
The wedding song released by afro-highlife singer, Flavour, went on to become a staple at almost all traditional and church weddings in 2013. The video won multiple awards including four at the Nigerian Music Video Awards, NMVA. It pulled over 2 million views on YouTube, thus, becoming the most watched music video in Nigeria for 2013.

6.Sean Tizzle
This was probably the first hit song of 2013. A certain Sean Tizzle teamed up with music producer D'Tunes's Difference Entertainment and broke into the industry with Sho Le (co-written by Sound Sultan). The club track didn't waste time in getting attention as it rocked the airwaves and several charts across the country.

7. Rotate – Wande Coal
Wande Coal, dropped a couple of singles in 2013 but Rotate stood out as one of the hits of the year. The Donjazzy produced song was heavily laced with Wande's usual rhyming style. The Black Diamond proved that he still had what made him the toast of music lovers in 2008.

8. Durosoke- Olamide
"Take it out side, basket; Take it inside, koroba …" that's the intro to Yoruba lingo rapper, Olamide's hit single, Duroske. The pop-rap single dominated the airwaves for a better part of 2013 even when Olamide released other singles or freestyle.

9. Personally- Psquare
The video dedicated to late pop icon, Michael Jackson, hit over a million views on YouTube within three months of its release.

10. Pullover Over – Kcee feat Wizkid
With a remix featuring producer, Donjazzy, and a video with cameo appearance by popular comedian, Saka, Kcee's Pullover was a super hit. Although released in the last quarter of the year, the video has over 748,000 views on YouTube, thereby ranking as the second most watched Nigerian music video of 2013.

11. GhostMode by Phyno ft. Olamide
This song one tha united the east and the west. Anyone who loves good music and listened to the song for the first time would love it. And these song began a marrage beween Phyn and Olamide as they have anoda song together.

12. The Matter by Maleek Berry ft. Wizkid
2013 seems o be Wizkids year. Any song he touched turned to gold. Everyone wanted him on their track cause he had the magic wand. The matter was a song that got all the campuses on fire.

13. Runmad by Terry G.
Terry G reintroduced himself with these song o remind us he is not going anywhere. After a brief silence, he came out with these song to remind us he is the number one mad man.

#CODED-ish News: Kenyans ridicule President Jonathan over Presidential fleet...lol

Kenyans mock President Jonathan over fleets of presidential aircraft he when he traveled with when  he visited Kenya during their just concluded Independence Day celebration...

The woman in the video said:
"Your president visited our country with seven private jets and that's never happened before. We were all excited. This is Nigeria. It's the country with the largest private jets. Seven private jets only. I know there must be more but for us still that was wow. Everybody came in their own jets"
Madam, why are you hating on our president nah. Is it because your president has only one or two private jets? And for your info, our president has 10 private jets, not 7, 10! And our government has budgeted N1.52b for the maintenance of the aircraft this year, so please stop jealousing us. Lol. We are so ridiculous in this country. Watch the video below...

#CODED-ish News: Read actor Benjamin Joseph's funny New Year message

He shared this as a broadcast on his BB yesterday. No oshofree things this year. Hehe. Read below..
"Happy New Year folks, glad we all had a seamless crossover into the new year. It is new year, things take a turn for the better. Change is constant. We should all desire to grow and achieve as much as God desires for us. Please permit me to share this general announcement:
Please don't ask me to do things pro bono for you, or your organization/magazine/newspaper/etc, unless you fancy being let down, personally.
I have serious bills to pay, just like the rest of y'all, so if you want to hire my services, we can talk, but otherwise, don't even think about approaching me - the time for me to pump up my resume with the fleeting thrill of being a good samaritan is over unless you pay for it. I repeat over! And nope- no friendship calls as far as business is concerned.
Thanks, I have to draw the margin somewhere, and since this last yearly quarter seems to be the one where I've been asked the most for free expertise, let me reiterate once and for all: nothing in the world is free, my expertise being the least amongst them."

#CODED-ish Gist: [A MUST READ] Eagles Will Win WC 2014 If……Guru Maharaj Ji

In what appears to be a dicey pronouncement which many may want to question, the Spiritual Leader of One Love Family, Satguru Maharaj Ji, who against all odds predicted victory for the Super Eagles at last Nation’s Cup has again stirred the hornet’s nest with his prediction that Nigeria will lift the 2014 World Cup in Brazil.

He made the comment in his Spiritual Village, Ibadan while speaking with our correspondent during an exclusive interview on plans to mark his spiritual birthday on January 1, 2014.

However, his latest prediction was predicated on some conditions. “I have said it and nothing will change it. If the Super Eagles handler, Stephen Keshi, shows more love to Maharaj Ji, the true name of the Almighty. He will lead the team to victory that will shock the world.

“I want him and top shots of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) to visit Maharaj Ji Village and let us have a discussion. Let them come and put Maharaj Ji’s power to test. I cannot be here and Nigeria won’t be able to conquer the world.

“I told them before that Eagles will win the Nation’s Cup and so it was. The powers of Chukwujekwukwu will touch the players again and they will have strength to run faster as children of the light than any other team at the tournament. Nigerians should come and avail themselves of the opportunity of the power now.

“Keshi should humble himself more. I foresee the cup coming to Nigeria in 2014. Nigerians should stop doubting because the Living Perfect Master is talking. I think by now government in its own wisdom would have shown appreciation to me for the victory of Eagles at the last Nation’s Cup. They should know that it is only by encouraging me that they receive more,”

Satguru Maharaj Ji said. “Gone are the days when Africans were rated as push over in football. “Today, the black man is leading the world spiritually. That is why I am here as the Messiah of this era. Let the people try the power in Maharaj Ji Village and see if they will not be marveled.

“The players, particularly the goal keeper, should avoid wearing blue jersey which was one of the things that caused initial problems for the team during the Nation’s Cup before an NFF top shot got across to me to intercede. Blue is the colour of mermaid. That is not ideal for any progressive development.

“I have said it loud and clear that the cup is within reach and definitely it will come to Nigeria if the sports administrators and the coaches take the advantage. I cautioned Samson Siasia, the former Eagles’ handler, but he retorted saying ‘is Satguru God’? That affected him and he was booted out. However, not only the Super Eagles, tell other national teams to come and receive the power to excel and it shall be well with them at any tournament.”

#CODED-ish News:: Jonathan's Message to Nigerians on New Year & New Century Of Amalgamation

TEXT OF A NEW YEAR MESSAGE TO THE NATION FROM PRESIDENT GOODLUCK EBELE JONATHAN

Dear Compatriots,

I greet and felicitate with you all as we enter the year 2014 which promises to be a momentous one for our country for several reasons, including the fact that it is also the year of our great nation’s centenary celebrations. I join you all in giving thanks to God Almighty for guiding us and our beloved nation safely through all the challenges of the outgoing year to the beginning of 2014.

Exactly 100 years ago today, on January 1, 1914, the British Colonial authorities amalgamated what was then the separate Protectorates of Southern Nigeria and Northern Nigeria, giving birth to the single geopolitical entity known as Nigeria. For us therefore, today is not just the beginning of a new year, but the end of a century of national existence and the beginning of another. It is a moment for sober reflection and for pride in all that is great about Nigeria.

Whatever challenges we may have faced, whatever storms we may have confronted and survived, Nigeria remains a truly blessed country, a country of gifted men and women who continue to distinguish themselves in all spheres of life, a country whose diversity remains a source of strength. We pay tribute today, as always to our founding fathers and mothers, and all the heroes and heroines whose toil and sweat over the century made this country what it is today.

As I noted, a few days ago, the amalgamation of 1914 was certainly not a mistake but a blessing. As we celebrate 100 years of nationhood, we must resolve to continue to work together as one, united people, to make our country even greater.

I assure you that our administration remains fully committed to the progressive development of our country and the consolidation of peace, unity and democratic governance in our fatherland. Despite several continuing domestic and global challenges, for us in Nigeria, the year 2013 witnessed many positive developments which we will strive to build upon in 2014.
