#CODED-ish News: Meet the man who hasn't had a bath in over 60 years...

This Iranian man you see above hasn't allegedly had a bath for 60 years. Daily Mail reports that 80 year old Iranian Amou Haji hasn't washed for 60 years because he believes being clean will make him sick, and his favourite food is rotten porcupine.

To relax he likes to sit down and have a smoke, from a pipe packed with animal faeces. Mr Haji says he chose this way of life after going through some emotional setbacks in his youth and since then - perhaps unsurprisingly - he has become a bit isolated.

His home is in Dejgah village in the southern province of Fars in Iran where, once, a group of young men offered to give him a shower - but luckily he managed to escape.

At night he either sleeps in a hole in the ground, which is quite like a grave, or in an open brick shack which concerned locals built for him. Continue...

#CODED-ish Gist:Uti Nwachukwu Talks About Betrayal, Depression & Sabotage From People Close To Him In A Recent Interview

Handsome Nollywood actor, Uti Nwachukwu once talked about betrayal by someone close to him which sparked the break-up rumour with BFF, Alex Ekubo.

Also, in this interview with Encomium Magazine, the BBA winner talked about his bitter experience in the hands of people he trusted.

"I learnt a lot about loyalty and genuineness. I was really hurt last year and a lot of true colours were revealed. I battled insolence, pride, treason, ingratitude, leaching, sabotage and wickedness from the people I least expected it from. I guess you have to be careful with what you pray for, because prayed to God to open up the hearths of people I care about. Let's just say if I wasn't spiritually strong with divine premonition, I would have gone into critical depression. But I guess I saw signs before but ignored these dreams. The hardest part was that I was and had been used by the most unassuming people and after confronting the issues, the parties act like they don't need you anymore but gain continually from your platform" he said

#CODED-ish Gist: Beware of This Arik Airline Job Offer Scam

She recently got duped of N20,000 and I still can’t believe she could fall for such scam. There may be one or two lessons to learn from the story. So read carefully.

You see, apart from blogging, I have this 9-5pm job that I do and sometimes my work extends to receiving calls/making calls to clients (if need be).

So on Friday while carrying about my job description diligently, a client who claimed to be ‘Patrick Okafor’ from Arik Airline, called to make some enquiries and as usual I received the call calmly, curtly and …as I could.

After attending to his enquiries, he thanked me and said he was very impressed with how I attended to him. He asked for what I studied in school, my grades, credentials…blah blah and then he asked if I’l like to work with Arik Air.

I simply laughed over it but he was very persistent so I quickly googled his name and I found that the supposed ‘Patrick Okafor’ was real, he’s the GM for security/operations in Arik plus he won two awards recently.

In convincing me, he said “See dear, Arik is currently recruiting (not cabin crew), customer/human resource/client officers and today is the last day for the interview and I will really like you to be there, you have really impressed me” and then he mentioned a mouth watering, jaw breaking and bone weakening salary range!

I was glad, in my mind I was like ‘wow, God is this how amazing you are, see how you’ve favoured me” but there was but, he needed me to fly to Abuja that day.

I looked through my schedule and asked if I could fly in on Monday for my interview cos I didn’t plan to leave Lagos this weekend but he said ‘Nah, we’ve selected the employees and today is the final interview stage, medical check-ups and screening will hold tomorrow (Saturday) I am going to include your name cos I’m on the board and your training will begin in Lagos on Monday”

It sounded so real, I suspected no foul play but I told him ‘Thank you for the offer sir but I love my current job….and I can’t fly out of Lagos today”.  He said ‘Okay’ and asked if I had any friend who is as pleasant as I am or that I can vouch for.

“I will be extending the opportunity to three of your friends, preferably a male and two females but I will really like you to come, I want you to work with us at Arik, you impressed me”.

So I told him I would get back to him.

Sharp sharp I took to my BBM status and threw it open for my contacts, in less than 3 seconds, I got over a 100 pings…anyways, I selected two of them and asked them to call the dude which they did.

I began having second thoughts and my conscience began scolding me “….you don’t know if this is God’s way of turning your life around for the best, lol”

So I sent him a text saying “I changed my mind, I’m interested.”

He called back, he laughed (he has this chief-like voice by the way) and asked why I said no at first…anyway, he said I needed to go and book a flight at the airport and when we checked the fee, it was like 33k+.

So I said “I don’t have that amount to spend o” and he said ‘Don’t worry, you will be given a discount…you will only pay N20, 110…I will give you the account to pay it into (Diamond Bank…A/c name Stella Chibuzor Obiahuba A/c Nos:  0036030010) so that you can have your ticket sorted out on time…all you need to do is to show up at the airport with your teller and passport…take your credentials, NYSC cert, birth cert, five passports and CV along (as if I didn’t know tha)…you will need that at the interview”

And I asked ‘how do I return?”

“You need to back in Lagos Saturday noon or evening so you can get ready for your training which starts Monday. Return flight is about 33k+ too but don’t worry, I assure you that your name will be included in the staff pay roll already so that it will be deducted from your salary”
T
I was happy ehn. As if I was under a spell, I ran to the bank to pay oh.

He then sent a mail that I should quickly forward my CV to the mail addy, arikair@yahoo.co.uk/amadiobi@yahoo.co.uk and I forwarded to my friends (who had also paid the 20, 110)

It was then one of them that said ‘ah han, babe, you sure this is not fake. Their mail addy should end with arikair eg amadiobi@arikair.com, major and big  organisations always have a customized mail id”.

My heart sank.

And then the other one called and said ‘babe that dude’s number is no more going through o, you sure he is not fake ?’

So I called him, he picked and he said ‘yeah I’m about going for a meeting, my secretary has seen your CV, your flight ticket has been sorted out, just go to the airport and wait at terminal too, someone will call you”

Right there a part of me said ‘Babe this thing is fake’ and while the other part said otherwise.

My other friend said ‘Babe abeg, I’m not going to airport o, it’s fake…you go ahead and tell me whatsup’

So I decided to find out….I went to the airport and when he called he said “your flight is for 6:30pm, just hang around, one of the ticket attendants will call you”

I waited till 6:15pm (then it dawned on me fully that I had been duped) I sent him a text saying ‘it’s 6:15pm and no one has called me” he called, apologized and assured that someone will.

I waited till 6:30pm and sent him another text, he didn’t reply, I called him and he didn’t pick so I called my friends, apologized to them and told them ‘we have been scammed’

I laughed at my foolishness, and called a cab man to carry me home.

The annoying thing is that the ‘dude’ called around ’7:15pm’ and I still played calm and polite…he asked ‘so where are you now?’

God knows if I had my way I would  have cursed him or something but I kept calm and said ‘I left the airport about 45minutes ago’ and he said ‘you what?????!!!’ Like I had committed one big offence.

I cut the call, hissed and turned off my phone. I hope he doesn’t call back!!!

It was while relaxing in the vehicle that I crafted this out. Yeah it’s just 20k and I hope to make a complaint at the bank to see if it can be refunded but I learnt my lesson….so be contented with what you have (your job or whatever you have at hand) and don’t be greedy.

#CODED-ish Gist: The TEN Things Parents NEED To Tell Their Kids Every Day

Forget about the New Year’s diet promises that you can’t keep. I can’t seem to stay on track with an exercise routine plus a perfect food plan that only makes me feel like I’m letting myself down. What I need to do is remind myself that even if I don’t lose those extra 10 holiday pounds, I’m still awesome in my own right.

And instead of just being concerned with my own feelings, I also need to fill my kids up with kind words and encouragement every day in an effort to help them combat all the negativity that’s out there. As busy parents, I think we tend to forget that our kids deal with daily dilemmas from peer pressure, puberty problems, lack of motivation and bullies who want to bring them down more.

So start the new year with a new plan to praise your kids! I may have limits on the amount of food I eat, but there is no limit on how much praise I can give my kids. Here are 10 things you should tell them daily to keep them inspired.

1. I love you
These three words pack a lot of punch, but when we get caught up in hectic schedules, these words are sometimes left out. Saying them needs to be a priority!

For your toddler, there’s a great little rhyming book called I Love You Through and Through(Bookworm.com, $9). It has adorable illustrations, and it talks about how much you love your child. And for your older kids, there’s an insightful book called What I Love About You (eBay, $10). It has fill-in-the-blank book prompts that will let you say and write what’s in your heart since those words are not always on the tip of your tongue. Tell the most important person in your life just how much he or she means to you by completing these unique activities.

2. I’m glad to see you
Sometimes, kids get a sense that when they get home, their parents aren’t that happy to have them there. When your children come home from school, let them know that you are happy they are there and that they belong there. This little gesture goes a long way and will make your kids feel welcomed and loved.

3. You make me proud
That moment when your child runs to you to share something she has accomplished — perhaps a good test score or something she made in school — is the moment you can pause and say, “You make me proud.” Your praise will lift her spirits and confidence to another level.

4. I’d love to hear more about that
I can’t tell you how many times my kids have come to me to tell me something while I was in the middle of a task and I ushered them off by saying, “Not now.” Never again. It only takes a few minutes to show how much you care to hear what your child is saying. So in the new year, take time to have more teachable moments. When your children have something to say, listen and let them do the talking. They will feel so very loved.

5. I believe in you
Sometimes, kids work so hard and feel a big letdown if they think they’re not meeting our expectations. Let your children know that no matter what, you believe in them. It’s about them, not you — and you can’t live through them vicariously and put demands on them that they can’t meet. Not only tell them that you believe in them, but tell them to believe in themselves.

6. You impress me
Your child will beam with pride when he hears how much he’s impressed you!

7. What would you like to do?
This question coming from you may really stump your kid. We are always making choices for our kids, and we hardly ever give them a chance to choose what they would like to do.

8. I trust you
Even if your child often defies you by doing the exact opposite of what you’d like her to do, challenge her trust by using a little reverse psychology. Tell your child you trust her. With that kind of pressure, she’ll rise to the challenge just so she doesn’t let you down.

9. You are so brave
It takes a lot of courage to be a kid and deal with some of the frightful things that come kids’ way. Whether he spoke out and stood up for a friend or even stood up for himself against a bully, comfort your kid by telling him he’s brave.

10. You make me happy just by being you!
Your kids deserve to know that their beautiful presence and existence make you happy. That sense of belonging and the tingling good feeling they’ll get will set off fireworks inside of them.

Resolve to make this resolution a promise that you can keep!

#CODED-ish News: 2 Students Injured in University of Abuja Female Hostel Fire Outbreak

The female hostel in the University of Abuja was on fire over the weekend.

2 students were injured in a fire which occurred at the female hostel of the University of Abuja on Sunday.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) learnt that the fire was caused by a gas cooker which exploded. A security officer, Mrs Fatima Salawo, who said that she was the supervisor on duty, told NAN that the incident took place around 8.25 a.m.

She said that the fire broke out as a result of a leaking gas cylinder, belonging to a 100-level student in the Department of Micro Biology, simply identified as Lilla. Salawo said that one 100-level student and another 400-level student were injured in the ensuing fire.

“The 400-level student, who sustained serious injuries, was rushed to the University of Abuja Teaching Hospital for treatment, while the 100-level student, who sustained a minor injury, was taken to the university’s clinic for treatment.

“i heard students shouting and on getting there, I discovered a fire outbreak, resulting from a gas cooker explosion.

“The 400-level student, who suffered serious burns, was sleeping when the fire broke out. We did our best to put out the fire before the arrival of firefighters,”she added.

The hostel porter, Ms Sikirat Shiadu, said that students had always been warned against cooking in the rooms where they slept.

She said that the university authorities had provided a kitchen in the hostel for cooking, advising the students to cultivate the habit of using the kitchen to avoid the recurrence of such incidents. She said that the authorities were aware of the incident.

#CODED-ish Gist: [PHOTO] Lagbaja's REAL FACE EXPOSED - We Know What He Was Hiding

Photo: Lagbaja
There are indications that the real face of mysterious always-masked afrobeat musician Lagbaja has been finally revealed to the audience.

Since the early 90's, Bisade “Lagbaja” Ologunde has managed to keep his face well hidden behind a mask.
According to Lagbaja, his mask is used as an icon of man’s facelessness.
Lagbaja is a Yoruba word that means “nobody in particular”. It depicts the anonymity of the so-called “common man”.

The mask and the name symbolise the faceless, the voiceless in the society, particularly in Africa.
But it seems we all have our curiosity chilled up as a picture alleged to be Lagbaja's with his face left unmasked leaked on the Internet some time ago.

It is not quite clear how the photo appeared on the social media websites, and the afrobeat singer himself has not confirmed whether it is his face actually or not. However, it is hard to ignore the striking similarities between this face and the masked one especially the lips, eyes and shape of chin.

What do you think - is it Lagbaja pictured below or not?

#CODED-ish News: [2014 Armed Forces Remembrance Day] We Will Not Bow To Boko Haram – Army

We Will Not Bow To Boko Haram – Army
The Nigerian Army vowed it would not bow to the security challenges confronting the nation, Boko Haram sect in particular, confirmed it remembered its fallen heroes.
Major General Garba A. Wahab, the General Officer Commanding (GOC), 1 Mechanised Division of the Nigerian Army, stated this during the church service in honour of the fallen heroes at St. Peter’s Military Catholic Church, Ribadu Cantonment, Kaduna, on January 12, 2014, Sunday.
The event was a part of activities marking the 2014 Armed Forces Remembrance Day.
The message of the GOC has been transferred by Brigadier General Clement Olukoju, Commander of 51 Signals:
“Even though many have died in their efforts to ensure the security of Nigeria and protect its territorial integrity, the military will not relent in its support to the civil authority by ensuring internal security.
“We must continue to do our job; we must continue to sacrifice. If we do our job effectively, even God will be happy with us. We must never be discouraged irrespective of the challenges we are passing through, irrespective of the people we have lost.
“God in His word said we should put on the armour of God, so that, we would be able to withstand the evil day.”
“What we are passing through today are things we have not experienced in the past in this country, so we don’t need to be weakened; we don’t need to be discouraged; we don’t need to be weary. All we need to do is to rely on what God has given to us and His word.
“Therefore, no matter the situation, we will never relent; we will never succumb; we will conquer. Because God has promised us that at the mention of His name, all knees will bow”, he said.
In his sermon Reverend Father Martins Dogo (Lieutenant Colonel) stated the fallen heroes should not only be remembered by laying of flowers on their graves, but by taking care of the families they left behind.
The message by the Governor of Kaduna State Mukhtar Ramalan Yero, which was announced by his deputy, Amb. Nuhu Audu Bajoga, confirmed that necessary measures were being put in place to take care of the fallen heroes’ families in the state poverty alleviation programme.
It also added that the labour of the fallen heroes will not be in vain.

#CODED-ish Gist: Patrick Obahiagbon Reacts To Mikel Obi Losing The CAF Player Of The Year Award

The Chief of Staff, Edo State Government House, Hon. Patrick Obahiagbon has reacted to Nigerian/Chelsea midfielder, John Mikel Obi's CAF award loss.
Read below....

"I am maniacally bewildered, overgassted and flabberwhelmed at the paraplegic crinkum crankum that characterised the Glo CAF awards culminating in an odoriferous saga cum gargantuan gaga! The jiggery pokery of CAF in crowning Yaya Toure instead of our very own prodigy John Obi Mikel is a veritable bugaboo that must be pooh-poohed by all compos mentis homo sapiens! The perfidy and Mendacity of all the apparatchic of sports suzerainty is not only repugnant but also insalubrious! I said to my self: What an anathematous disdain of the citizenry! What a deprecable descent from the sublime to the ridiculous! Who will curb the odoriferous excesses of this machavellian and mephistophelean cabal in the Confederation? With this state of affairs, i dare say that African football is swimming in a pestilential aqua with a disastrious terminus ad quem inherently laden with avoidable cataracts, ice bergs and oxbow Lakes. It is sardonic and lugubrious!!!

#CODED-ish News: Enugu Businessman Builds Asphalted Road For Awgu LGA, Enugu State.

Echoes of joy are still being heard in four communities in Enugu State after a businessman handed them an uncommon Christmas and New Year gift. Their illustrious son, Emperor Chris Baywood Ibe, Chief Executive Officer, Baywood Continental Ltd, single-handedly built and handed them an 8.5km-asphalted road.

The road traverses Agbogugu, Isu-Awaa, Agbudu and Ihie town, all in Agwu Local Government Area of the state. The communities are still in a celebratory mood days after the facility was commissioned by the Federal Road Maintenance Agency (FERMA).

Emperor Baywood Ibe, who maintained that the gesture was strictly a philanthropic one, had, on same day, handed over a one-storey classroom block and a remodelled church building he built for his native Isu-Awa community. The ceremonies were part of the activities he lined up to celebrate the 25th anniversary of his union with his wife, Empress Pat Baywood Ibe who was also marking her 50th birthday.

During the road commissioning ceremony, FERMA assured that it would take over the maintenance of the facility if the Enugu State government failed to do so. FERMA Chairman, Mr. Ezekiel Olajide Adeniji, an engineer, who represented President Goodluck Jonathan on the occasion, made the disclosure while cutting the tape to declare the road open. He commended Emperor Baywood Ibe for his magnanimity, maintaining that if one individual each in every state of the federation could do what the donor had done, the country would soon be blessed with an intricate road network.

“This is simply marvellous,” Mr. Adeniji noted. “It is amazing to note that one person could do this much for the good of his people. If we have one person each from every state and the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja building about 8.5km road, we will soon have about 340km road network. In the whole country, we have 34, 120km of roads under the maintenance of FERMA. If everybody could emulate what Emperor Baywood Ibe has just done, it means that private individuals would be contributing one per cent to the road network under the care of the Federal government. For this reason, I wish to call on people like him to replicate his philanthropic example.

“The Enugu State government is expected to take over this facility because it is a state road. But if there is need for us in future to help, we will not hesitate to do that.”

And speaking about the quality of the road, Mr. Adeniji said: “I have been a civil engineer for more than 30 years. So, I can tell you that the quality of the road I’m seeing here is quite high. I’m particularly excited by the line drainage on the road, the bridges and the culverts. These features will help to elongate the road’s life span because there won’t be percolation of flood water anytime it rains. What that means is that the contractor did an excellent job and the technical quality is simply high.”

The commissioning ceremony took place on a hot, humid day. The visitors were literally grilling in the afternoon sun which continued to blaze with unusual intensity. But everyone in attendance was unfazed. While the ceremony was being awaited, some members of the benefiting communities engaged in singing and dancing as an appreciative crowd gathered at the Isu-Awa junction on the Enugu-Port Harcourt Expressway where two canopies had been erected at a corner to shelter the dignitaries from the fury of the sun.

Among those present were former Minister of Foreign Affairs, Odein Ajumogobia; Director General, Standards Organisation of Nigeria (SON), Dr Joseph Odumodu, Senator Annie Okonkwo; Mr. Nnanna Nze, Chairman, Agwu Local Government Area, who represented Enugu State governor, Mr. Sullivan Chime, Barrister Cletus Anene who stood in for the Speaker, Enugu State House of Assembly, Air Vice Marshal Christian Chukwu of the Nigerian Air force and Ambassador Jerry Ugokwe from the presidency among others. There was also the strong presence of traditional rulers from Agwu Local Government Area and the clergy of the Anglican Communion within Enugu State and beyond. In the crowd also were visitors from South Africa, Italy, Zambia and Zimbabwe...

#CODED-ish Gist: Miss Nigeria, Ezinne Akudo Poses With Lions (Picture)

Miss Nigeria, Ezinne Akudo, has posted on Instagram the photos of her so-to-say "posing" with a lion in a Mauritius Zoo. It looks like the national beauty has been enjoying her vacation a lot.

The original caption under the pics reads:
"The man looked at me and said ‘the lion was brought here when it was 3 months old. It’s not trained,it’s not tamed...it’s just used to having human beings around’ .. And I was like ‘what does that even mean? a lion is a lion!’ Hehehehe… ’twas the scariest moment of my life."

#CODED-ish News:: CBN Governor Accuses Pastor Adeboye Of Helping Corrupt Rogue Banker Akingbola To Evade Justice

CBN-Governor-Lamido-Sanusi
The governor of Nigeria’s Central Bank, Sanusi Lamido Sanusi, has accused the General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God, Pastor Enoch Adejare Adeboye, of playing a role in shielding Erasmus Akingbola, the corrupt former Chief Executive Officer of InterContinental Bank PLC, from serious prosecution.

Nigerian authorities asserted that the rogue former banking executive siphoned over N200 billion from the commercial bank he ran. Officials of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission also accused Mr. Akingbola of using his loot to buy swanky properties in Europe and other parts of the world. The former InterContinental Bank chief also reportedly manipulated his bank’s stocks in insider trading deals.

Mr. Akingbola fled to the UK as soon as Nigerian authorities indicated their desire to try him. He was later forced to return to Nigeria, but his prosecution soon fizzled in what EFCC sources privately confided to be a deal hatched at the highest levels to let him walk free.

Mr. Sanusi hinted at Pastor’s Adeboye’s involvement in the deal in a widely circulated TEDX talk he gave in Abuja, the Nigerian capital. In the video, the CBN governor relates his encounters with vested interests in the banking sector.
Although Mr. Sanusi did not expressly mention Pastor Adeboye by name, SaharaReporters was able to confirm from two sources that the Redeemed Church leader was involved in the deals that led to the obstruction of Mr. Akingbola’s trial.

Justice Habeeb Abiru, who was handling Mr. Akingbola’s trial, was suddenly promoted to the Court of Appeals after Pastor Adeboye intervened on behalf of the rogue banker with President Goodluck Jonathan, one of the sources told SaharaReporters. Mr. Akingbola’s case has since stalled in a maze of judicial manipulations and is currently being tried by a third judge in Lagos.

In the video, the Central Bank Governor also makes a crucial retreat from the position he took during the fuel price hike protests of January 2012. Mr. Sanusi had publicly and forcefully defended the case for increasing the price of fuel and other gasoline products. But in the TED talk, he admits that Nigerians who revolted in the “Occupy Nigeria” protests after the Goodluck Jonathan administration unveiled higher fuel prices were right. Mr. Sanusi disclosed that most of the fuel subsidy funds had been stolen by highly connected individuals who continue to evade justice.
