#CODED-ish Gist::Elikem In Court Over Odartey Lamptey’s DNA Scandal

According to Citifmonline.com an Accra High Court has adjourned to January 22 the case involving former Black Star midfielder Nii Odartey Lamptey and his wife.
The case was on Tuesday January 14, 2014 heard in Chambers at the Cocoa Affairs court room 14. Nii Odartey Lamptey who is the owner of Glow Lamp International School headed to court to seek divorce after over 20 years of marriage.
This became necessary after Nii Odartey Lamptey conducted DNA test and discovered that the three children he has fathered all his life are not his biological children.
Few weeks before Christmas, it will be recalled that there was an allegation from a highly placed source in an interview with XYZ News saying that Odartey Lamptey caught Elikem flirting with wife on three different occasions in their matrimonial home.
Both Nii Odartey Lamptey and Elikem Kumordzi were in court together with family friends and sympathizers.

Odartey Lamtey and his wife, Gloria Lamptey
It would be recalled that Elikem reacted to some revelations made on Thursday, November 28,2013 on rumour segment "Akika kika" on Okay FM's drive time program "Ekwanso dwodwo" hosted by Abeiku Santana. The program alleged that Elikem had been having a secret affair with the footballer's wife even before he went into the Big Brother house in May last year.
He flatly denied the claims, suggesting the equation doesn't add up, and even went ahead to throw a jab at those spreading the rumors calling them "fools".
He sent his reaction via social media on twitter punching holes into the allegations; he adds that he must be some "gangster" of gigantic proportions to achieve that.
"So fools. Do the math. Even if I was with sam1 for 5 years how am I the father of a 10yr old. Kwasia. means I was 15. Den am gangster. Lmao.", Elikem tweeted. He has refused to make any further comment on the issue after his reaction on twitter.
Now that the case is in court and Elikem has made an appearance, only time will tell if Elikem is indeed innocent of the allegations as he claims.

#CODED-ish News::Charterhouse Brings “GH Entertainment Awards” This Year

On Sunday 12th January, 2014, host of the only Sunday radio entertainment programme – Flex on Pluz in Ghana, Samuel Atuobi Baah, asked the PRO of Charterhouse, Mr. George Quaye, if it's true they have plans of birthing another award scheme called Ghana Entertainment Awards.
"Yes it's true we shall be organizing another award scheme called GH Entertainment. It's actually something we conceived two years ago but we were still putting the pieces together behind the scene. God being so good, GH Entertainment Awards shall come off this year hopefully before the first quarter of the year ends.
"We shall be launching it before this month – January ends and after that, more details of the award would be made public or available to the media. What would be so different from this award and Ghana Music Awards?
"Well unlike Ghana Music Awards, Ghana Movie Awards, Radio and Television Personality Awards, and the other awards which are specialty awards, GH Entertainment Awards is an award scheme designed to award people in all the different sects of our creative arts industry."
"We shall be awarding players in music, movies, broadcasting, Art writing, event producers and directors, painting, graphics, a little sport and others," George Quaye intimated.
Indeed, this award promises to be one with a broader scope compared to all the award schemes we have in Ghana.

#CODED-ish News::Akon Sued For Duping An Egyptian Singer

Akon has been served with a lawsuit by an Egyptian singer, Tamer Hosny for allegedly failing to appear on the singer's single he spent so much money producing. According to the new lawsuit filed this week, Rapper Pitbullditched the song as well thanks to the Konvict star.

The famous Egyptian singer claims, after spending hundreds of thousands to produce the single, Pitbull and Akon, who were supposed to sing along inexplicably, vanished. Hosny says he paid Akon a whopping $300K for both singers to sing on his new hit, Arabian Knight.

According to TMZ, 'Akon delivered the track but according to the lawsuit, in return for the $300K ... Akon and Pitbull were supposed to appear in the "Arabian Knight" music video ... but Pitbull was a no show."

Tamer claims Akon promised to deliver Pitbull for the shoot, so it's his fault and he's on the hook. He adds that it's double the disaster because he had to pay $100K for cameras and crew the day of the shoot - all for nothing.

We are still investigating why was Pitbull not sued but it's going to be a thug of war if Akon doesn't return Hosny's $300,000.

And as they say, Middle Easterners are just the wrong peeps to mess with!

#CODED-ish News::Deadlier Than AIDS: Scientists Discover New STD That Kills Within Days

A new sexually transmitted super-bug has emerged and according to experts, may be more deadly that AIDS and could cause an epidemic.

According to reports, an antibiotic-resistant strain of gonorrhea is more aggressive than the HIV virus, which means the potential to infect the public will be greater.

This strain of STD which is resistant to antibiotic, reportedly kills half of those exposed and infects one in 20 hospital patients thereby raising the threat of an outbreak to emergency levels.

Alan Christianson, a doctor of naturopathic medicine, thinks this new strain has the power to rack up more fatalities than AIDS.

He said, "Getting gonorrhea from this strain might put someone into septic shock and death in a matter of days," adding that it is very dangerous.

Also speaking, executive director of the National Coalition of STD Directors, William Smith said, "It's an emergency situation. As time moves on, it's getting more hazardous."

Like most STDs, gonorrhea is usually transmitted through unprotected sexual contact and if left untreated, can cause severe medical complications, such as infertility in women, debilitating pain, sterility in men and life threatening heart infections.

#CODED-ish News::LASU CRISIS: Lagos Assembly Grills VC

John Obafunwa, representatives of the institution's Students' Union Government, SUG, led by Hassan Mojirade, and three representatives from the Students' Ruling Council led by Sanni Sadiq and the state Commissioner for Education, Mrs. Olayinka Oladunjoye as well as the Special Adviser to Governor Babatunde Fashola on Education, Lateef Olukoga.
Apart from allegations that the institution failed to present results and certificates to its graduates years after leaving the institution, thousands of aggrieved students of the institution took to the streets yesterday to protest the refusal of LASU management to allow them write their second semester examination because they had not fully registered as students.
The Chairman, Governing Council of the institution, Mr. Olabode Augusto, who spoke first said at the beginning of every academic year, the students are expected to pay their fees and then go ahead to register through a portal for the courses they should take.
He said in the second semester, the portal was opened for two weeks, but that the students asked for more time and it was opened for another one month. Following another appeal, the portal was again opened for seven days.
During this period, he said over 11, 000 students registered while a little over 1000 students failed to register.
He said the university was re-opened close the Yuletide period following a strike, and that the students again started begging for the portal to be re-opened, but that the management refused because it would disrupt academic activities.
"Moreover, the management thought we needed to teach the students how to act properly because at the beginning of every year, they are supposed to do the right thing," he said.
He said he had met with the students when they earlier protested about the non-reopening of the portal. He said the Governing Council agreed with the management's decision but said the agreement was that those who had paid the fees but could not register would have to carry over to the following semester, but would not pay another school fees.
He said the SUG officials argued that some of the students could not meet the payment deadline because they are from poor homes, but added that the institution has a payment plan and was lenient because of students from poor homes but that the students must inform the school.
Students of the institution who thronged the state Assembly for the hearing were prevented from getting into the chamber by armed security men at the gate of the House.
The VC noted that LASU has always been bedevilled by crisis of lack of early registration by tudents.
"When students fail courses, they go to the portal to delete courses in which they failed and add the ones which they passed. They call it add and delete," he said of the fraudulent activities of the students.
He was still speaking at the time of this report.
The Speaker, Adeyemi Ikuforiji said the House took the decision to invite members of the institution's Governing Council and other relevant people concerning the mayhem that occurred at the school on Thursday.
"LASU is the only university that we can call our own and all well meaning Lagosians are concerned about the goings-on in the university," Ikuforiji said..
He said it was the hope of government that the university would become world-class, adding that the government had spent billions of naira to put the institution where it is.
"However, the return has not been encouraging," he said, adding that this and many other reasons accounted for their invitation.
Some of the students were said to have paid the tuition but were not able to complete their registration before the portal for registration was shut by the institution's management.
The school was shut after the students went on the rampage Thursday, disrupting the university's second semester examination and destroying properties in the process.
The protest which started Wednesday over the closure of the university's registration portal, led to stoning of the University Vice Chancellor Prof. John Obafunwa, as he tried to evade the riotous students who had blocked the main gate and made bonfires on the Lagos-Badagry expressway.
A witness told P.M.NEWS Thursday that students threw sticks and stones at the Vice Chancellor's convoy as he made to escape through an alternative route beside Connoil Filling station.
Trouble started in the university when the VC decided not to open the registration portal for over 2,000 students who are yet to register their second semester courses as exams was to begin Thursday, even though the banks are still collecting school fees from students, whose hope of registering gets slimmer by the day.
According to the students, only 708 were able to register before the portal was shut again leaving, 1292 students to their fate.
When the students union government went to plead on behalf of the students, the VC was reported as saying those yet to register are insignificant and would automatically have to carry the session over, a statement which infuriated the students and they decided to take laws into their hands.
A 100 level Political Science student, Adesegun Bisuga, laments the hard-line stand of the VC, saying he is inconsiderate.
"I personally don't know why the VC decided to take that kind of hurting decision looking at the high fees the students are paying and after they struggle to pay, the VC denied us registration which will lead to the students having carry covers and extra year(s)," he said.
During an audience with the Vice Chancellor by members of the students union body, it was reported that the Vice Chancellor said 11,300 students, have registered so far, and the remaining the 1292 students crying foul falls in the rank of the minority.
Efforts to speak with the Dean of Students Affairs, Prof. Kabiru Akinyemi, was not successful as he said he cannot comment on the matter now. Calls put across to the Vice Chancellor were also ignored.
The speaker of the Students Parliamentary Council, Sodiq Adewunmi Sanni, while speaking with our correspondent, advised that the university management should consider the students in view of the outrageous school fees they are paying.
"The university management needs to consider the students, they are paying the highest school fees for a state university in Nigeria. Even though I am not affected, the students' school fees is outrageous. They have gone through a lot and to now deny them registration is not in anybody's good interest."

#CODED-ish News::Armed robbers invade Nsukka Catholic Cathedral

The arrow of God is no longer at ease and thing has fallen apart in the house of God.
This aptly described how four armed robbers invaded the house of God at St. Theresa's Catholic Cathedral, Nsukka Enugu State for gold and millions of Naira.
Crime guard gathered that the hoodlums allegedly armed with a long gun and three shot pistols sneaked into the cathedral in the wee hours and made straight to the Bishop's residence, chop off window burglaries after tying up three security men hands and legs and locked them up at the Bishop's Kitchen, ransacked the Bishop's residence in search of over N100million and gold Ornaments together with other valuables.
What could armed robbers be looking for in God's house? The robbers after cutting the windows and doors in the Bishop's residence met Rev.Fr. Eugene Odo secretary to the Bishop of Nsukka diocese and requested him to bring out all the cash in the diocese that have not been lodged in the Bank. The priest gently brought out the weeks collection and gave to them and the shameless robbers and dullards said it was not the kind of money they are looking for, The Priest allegedly swore to the heaven that the paltry sum was the only available cash at that moment. The unsatisfied bandits ransacked all the rooms at the Bishops court but could not find any other cash outside what was given to them.
Angered by the poor cash, the robbers resort to property, took the diocesan laptop where all activities programmers and history of the dioceses were stored, also collected Rev. Fr. Eugene Odo's private laptop, one Ipad, palm top and his two hand sets and ordered the priest to take them to the residence of the principal St. Theresa's College (STC) Nsukka Rv. Fr. Igwebueze.
Narrating his ordeal with robbers Rev. Fr. Eugene Odo said that the experience was his most horrifying one ever as a priest, explaining that he was fast asleep when the robbers entered the house as he worked late into the night.
When the four armed robbers met me and requested me to give them money, I only pointed to the Paltry amount available at the moment but they were not satisfied and ransacked the entire place without any other cash found, they took the diocesan laptop, my two handsets, I pad palm top, wrist watches, digital camera and video camera. What pained me most was my computer solar bag which serves as a generator. I bought the solar bag in Italy at the cost 200 euros.
I pleaded with the robbers not to take the diocesan laptop but they questioned whether I was aware that they are armed robbers? I said yes I know but at least for the sake of God they should drop the diocesan laptop, a plea the robbers never obliged me. After much harassment, the robbers ordered me to lead them to the residence of the Principal of STC, an order I equally turned down as they would lead me out and kill me. It was at this juncture they asked me to say my last prayer while of them pulled his trigger to fire me but the alleged leader the four men gang asked him not to shoot.
They questioned whether I made any phone call across to the police? I replied I did not know when they entered the compound, talkless of reaching out to the police as I was alone in the Bishop's residence. Bishop emeritus Rt. Rv. DR. Francis Okobo has moved to his retirement home and the new Bishop Rt. Rev. Prof. Godfrey Onah has not packed in to the Bishop's court due some renovation works on going at the residence.
It could be recalled that the Cathedral administrator on Sunday preceding Tuesday the robbers invaded the Cathedral had presented a balance sheet of the total income and expenditure of the Cathedral for 2013 fiscal year ending December 31,2013 to the Cathedral congregation and announced the balance. The robbers may have allegedly acting on information or may be at the church when the statement of account for 2013 was announced, invaded the house of God to cart away the amount announced in the church.
The Bishop's secretary Rv. Fr. Odoh explained that he would not say whether the robbers were actually looking for the Money announced in the church Sunday before they struck on Tuesday but said that the highest collection contained in the statement of account for 2013 was during the Episcopal Ordination of the new Bishop of the diocese, others were from the laity councils, CYON, CMO, CWO MOD among other groups.
After several hours when the robbers found out that there were no other cash, they called me idiot and took me to the Bishop's kitchen, unlocked the kitchen and brought the three security man attached to St. Theresa's College (STC) Nsukka and forced them to lead them to the principal's residence and left me alone to my own mercy.
Crime guard gathered that the dare devils and agents of darkness allegedly collected the principal's laptop and an undisclosed amount of money with other valuables despites the ill health condition of the Rev.Fr. Igwebueze principal of the college. According to the earlier statement of Fr. Odoh the robbers had asked him to bring out the women they heard their voices at the point of entry into the residence.
But he swiftly replied, "What could a woman be doing in a priests residence at the wee hours of their entry", explaining that he was all alone in the Bishop's Court. He then asked them to go round again to see if any woman was kept in any of the rooms. "I do not know what you want again", he asked.
Fr. Odoh noted that both he and Fr Igwebueze next morning then lodged the incident at both Nsukka police Area Command and the urban police division, Nsukka, adding that both the Area Commander, Ros-Armson Haladu (ACD) and the team stormed the scene of the incident and took inventory of damages and items stolen.
BISHOP GODFREY ONAH
The catholic bishop of Nsukka diocese, Rt Rev. Prof Godfrey Onah had in a homily at the cathedral asked the bandits that invaded the bishop's court to quietly return all the items they collected or face the option of the wrath of God within few days. The bishop noted that the robbers should come to him if they want him and should leave his priests alone, he warned.
Meanwhile, the Area Commander, Ros-Armson Haladu (ACP) has assured to track down the robbers that invaded the Bishop's residence, adding he moved into action by drafting fierce detectives to unveil the circumstances surrounding the incident at the Bishop's residence and track down the alleged fleeing robbers to face the wrath of law. Meanwhile no arrest has been made as at the time of filling this report.

#CODED-ish News:: Tinubu- PDP not a threat

THE NATION - A National Leader of the All Progressives Congress, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, yesterday said the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) is no threat despite of the emergence of ex-Governor Adamu Mua'zu as its National Chairman.
He said change was inevitable in the country since the PDP had embarked on self-destruct.
He also asked the Federal Government to stop the growing impunity in Rivers State so as not to encourage people to resort to self-help.
Tinubu spoke to reporters after the Eight Interim National Executive Committee meeting of the APC in Abuja. He said the nation cannot afford another emergency in Rivers State.
He said: "PDP! Threat , what kind of threat? What is my own with PDP? I want PDP to wreck. Why should I think about them? They have wrecked the country. They are self-destruct."
He said the NEC meeting went well without any rancour or division.
He said: "The meeting went well and was productive. It addressed various landmines of anti-democratic issues in the country, particularly the case of Rivers, where freedom is being hindered and the respect for human lives is no longer the sanctity of our system and that of respect forthe rule of law.
"The National Publicity Secretary of the party will address you and further on this.
"We are still working and praying with those emergencies. We don't want to create another corridor and we don't want a government that cannot have due tolerance for opposition at the centre.
"The abuse of power must stop in order not to encourage people to self help.
Tinubu dismissed insinuations on the alleged emergence of a new APC.
He said some leaders, who were absent at the session, sent words to the National Chairman of APC, Chief Bisi Akande.
He added: "There is nothing like new APC. Oh they are repackaging. Ok there is OMO. Everybody can brand and say new Honda, new KIA and new anything you want to say.
"Anybody can be absent with excuses. There are reasons others personally stated or forwarded to the national chairman.
"There are some intruders and alarm rang and they ran away."

The authorities of the University of Ilorin have approved N4.5m for three of the institution's academics.

The school Vice-Chancellor, Prof. AbdulGaniyu Ambali, announced this on Monday while receiving three of the scholars in his office.

The beneficiaries are professors Kunle Ayorinde; Victor Alabi, and Taiwo Ibiyemi.

He said the academics were supervisors of the students whose theses excelled in the Nigeria Universities Doctoral Thesis Awards Scheme organised by the National Universities Commission last year.

Ambali said, "The university recognised the fact that without their expertise and thoroughness, the students' theses would not have won the awards.

The vice-chancellor added that the university had to give special recognition to the supervisors "because without them, these awards wouldn't have been ours.

"With them producing this calibre of students with limited resources, there is no doubt that with more encouragement, they will do more," he said.

The doctoral graduates who won the awards are Eunice Sola-Ojo of the Faculty of Agriculture, Ojeniyi Adetunji of the Faculty of Arts and Omowunmi Gbenga-Ilori of the Faculty of Engineering and Technology.

The Dean of the Postgraduate School, Prof. Clement Bewaji, who spoke on the occasion, commended the authorities for providing the grant.

#CODED-ish News::18-Yr-Old Girl Arrested For Selling Newborn Baby On Facebook For Just N17,800!

A Chilean teen sold her unborn baby on Facebook for just $113, police said. The 18-year-old woman, Veronica Carrera Chaparro, was arrested alongside her mother and sister who are accused of helping her with the sale.

Police claim that Chaparro found out she was two months pregnant in February 2013.
She told her then 17-year-old boyfriend and made him promise to keep the news quiet. But he broke the secret and told her family.

Chaparro's 42-year-old mother Angela Chaparro and her 24-year-old sister Daniela Perez reportedly gave her three options.
"Sell it, abort it or give it up for adoption," were her options, said police chief Miguel Ampuero.

The unborn baby was put up for sale on social networking site Facebook and attracted immediate interest from a couple in the city of Concepcion.

However, the parties could not negotiate a deal.
A family from the Santiago neighborhood of Puente Alto then got in touch and offered to pay the child's $1,870 formal registration fees.

The baby was eventually born on Nov. 4 and, the following day, the husband of the buyers allegedly paid the sum to authorities. He then handed over the much-smaller amount to the birth mother, who lived in the Maipu district of the capital, reports Cooperativa.

Chaparro, her mother and sister were all arrested and charged in connection with the sale. They appeared before a court in Santiago on Sunday.

Judge Ernesto Silva said the case was "very serious."
But it could prove complex case, as under Chilean law it is not a crime to offer the delivery of a newborn over the Internet, even if financial compensation is offered.
The buyers were also detained and will appear before a court on Monday. NYdaily!

#CODED-ish News: [CHECK IT OUT] Toke Makinwa Shares Exclusive Photos From Her Ultra-secret Wedding

tokewed12
Toke Makinwa and Maje Ayida married in a very private ceremony on the 15th January 2014.

In case you missed the event, [which we all did!] Toke Makinwa (or is it Ayida?] shared photos from the wedding on her blog, with this message:

“On the 15th of January 2014, I got married to my lover and Best Friend. It was such an intimate event, I haven’t stopped apologising to family and friends who feel slighted that they could not attend. I really did not wish to keep it a secret, If anything we would have loved to have all our loved ones there with us but this was our registry and so much had happened between Maje and I in the last 3 months. Plus, it was such a huge surprise, I had no clue. I hate surprises but I must say, this one knocked me out of my elements because i usually suspect something is happening. Hehehehe! I am not fully over it yet.

Relationships are tough, people go through the ups and downs and we as a couple have had our share of that. Having a private moment was not to offend anyone, it was God’s appointed time and No, I am not pregnant. Lol. Having a baby is a precious gift from God and when that time is right, I am sure he will bless us with ours. Without boring you all, cos you mean so much to me, I have decided to share some of the pictures from the happiest day of my life.

Thank you all for your endless prayers, emails, calls and support. Our wedding dates (Engagement and Blessings) will be announced soonish.”

#CODED-ish News::ASUP Strike: FG agrees to pay ASUP N20b salary arrears

Striking lecturers under the aegis of Academic Staff Union of Polytechnics (ASUP) have gotten assurance from Federal Government to pay N20.4 billion salary arrears owed the lecturers.
The information came to the fore on Tuesday, in Abuja when the Supervising Minister of Education, Nyesom Wike, held a joint meeting with executive members of ASUP and the National Association of Polytechnic Students (NAPS).
He however said as soon as modalities for the payment are agreed upon between both parties, the payment will be effected.
He said the CONTISS salary structure being agitated for by the union had been approved and also included in the 2014 budget.
He said the CONTISS issue had brought the resolution of three out of four of the demands being made by the lecturers.
Wike at the meeting noted that the only outstanding issue yet to be resolved was the release of the white papers of visitation panel to the polytechnics.
He however said delay in the release of the white papers was not peculiar to the polytechnics sector, adding that government was working on it.
It will be recalled that the union and government had met in 2013 at the commencement of the strike where ASUP tabled 13 demands to the Federal Government.
Both parties, however agreed on tackling four out of the 13 demands that could be resolved in the short term.
Some of the demands raised by the union include setting up a Needs Assessment Committee for the polytechnics, implementation of the CONTISS salary structure, constitution of governing councils for the schools and the release of the white paper.
Wike said government did not at any time say there were no funds for the Needs Assessment Committee to begin its work, but the delay was due to the strike.
He advised the union to state the facts especially when addressing the public as government was making concerted efforts to strengthen its educational system at all levels.
Wike noted that the aim of Tuesday's meeting was to identify grey areas that could be addressed for all to move forward.
He therefore appealed to the union to call off the industrial action in the interest of the country and the future of the students.
Earlier, the National President of ASUP, Chibuzo Asomugha, said the union was not on strike for its own selfish interest.
Asomugha said the lecturers were fighting to strengthen the polytechnics, improve on the quality of students and give them the place they deserved.
At the meeting also, National President of NAPS, Ogbonnaya Sunday, alleged that the striking lecturers were not fighting for the welfare of students, especially the issue of dichotomy between the university and polytechnic.
Sunday, who said the students had resolved to "tow the path of peace and dialogue, appealed to government to ensure a speedy resolution of all contending issues.
He said, "when two elephants fight, the grass suffers" as students were at the receiving end of the strike because many had taken to crime and other vices for lack of gainful engagement.
