#CODED-ish News:: EXPOSED: Boko Haram’s Sources Of Funds

Following the unabated acts of terrorism perpetrated by the Islamic religious sect, Yusufiyya – which later became Boko Haram, since 2009, many questions have been asked by Nigerians and the international communities.
Prominent among these questions is how the militant group is raising funds to procure sophisticated weapons which they use to carry out their heinous attacks across Nigeria?
However, Premium Times reports that since 2009, the deadly sect has continued to deploy various tactics to sustain its resolve in undermining the Nigerian state.

It was gathered that in the onset, the sect began to embark on selective killings and maiming of politicians and security agencies.
Later on, according to the report, the terror group acquired the know-how on how to make Improvised Explosive Devices, IEDs, which it used mostly on security operatives, security formations and churches within and around Borno State.
In a bid to “promote the Jihad of God,” as they claim, the Islamist sect went from terror attack to attacking banks and other financial institutions, as well as the robbery of bullion vans in which millions of Naira were at different occasions stolen.
Between 2010 and 2012, the group resorted to extorting high personalities in Nigeria by sending text messages with threats on their lives if millions of Naira were not delivered to them at a designated rendezvous or harassing their victims by dropping sealed threat letters with a piece of live bullet asking for money.
When the presence of the Joint Task Force, JTF, continued to grow and increased development of counter intelligence by the Department of State Security, DSS, the Boko Haram sect resorted to kidnapping.

On January 30, 2012, the late spokesman of Boko Haram, Abul Qaqa had in a teleconference with journalists threatened that they would soon embark on abduction of spouses and children of security operatives and  office holders, for

allegedly detaining their (Boko Haram) family members.

The terrorists did not start their threat until early this year, when the sect embarked on a ransom-driven kidnap of civilians. Most of their targets often gained their freedom after the payment of huge money by either government or relatives of the captives.

The spokesman of JTF, Sagir Musa, on April 28, issued a caveat warning to residents of Maiduguri and environs that the Boko Haram had resort to kidnapping prominent citizen with the aim of getting money from their relatives.
Mr. Musa’s statement read, “Intelligence available to the Task Force has indicated that Boko Haram Terrorists have resolved to concentrate more on kidnappings than robbery. They alleged that kidnapping is more lucrative, less dangerous and requires short time to plan and execute. Similarly, a special kidnapping squad has been earmarked and tasked by the Boko Haram sect to kidnap persons who could be wealthy relations, politicians, business women/ men, traditional rulers, senior civil servants and foreigners alike.”

The above statement was made after the Boko Haram sect had carried out several successful kidnaps for ransom.
Prominent personalities in Nigeria and many other people, private civilians, are believed to have been kidnapped by the militants and likely paid heavy ransoms to gain their freedom without anyone knowing. While those who could not afford such heavy ransoms are alleged to have been killed.
The belief in security circles in Borno is that the sect increasedMany had hoped and are still hoping that the declaration of a State of Emergency in Borno and the subsequent massive deployment of troops there would halt the kidnap and other criminal activities of the sect. its kidnap activities to fund its various violent operations across Northern Nigeria.

#CODED-ish News::Why C. Ronaldo Flexed Muscles In Champions League Final

Football fans across the globe were stunned to watch Real Madrid striker Cristiano Ronaldo ripped off his shirt in front of the cameras when celebrating his Champions League final goal against Atletico Madrid on 24 May, 2014.

The Portuguese superstar scored a penalty in the closing minutes of extra-time to round off a 4-1 victory, and he celebrated by taking off his shirt and flexing his muscles.

According to reports published in Spain today, the Portuguese superstar ripped off his shirt because he was being filmed for his movie.

Critics had questioned Ronaldo's celebration given that the game was already won, and reports say that Ronaldo knew where to stand for cameras to pick him up and capture the celebration.

According to Dailymail report, the former Manchester United forward is developing 'Ronaldo: The Movie' to promote his brand.

Real Madrid secured their 10th European Cup in Lisbon last weekend as they came from behind to beat Atletico Madrid 4-1 after extra-time

It was the second Champions League Ronaldo has won having done so with Manchester United in 2008.

#CODED-ish Gist:: Hilarious App Surfaces called The "BridePrice app" Helps to determine the bride price of ladies, what do y'all think of it?

Has anyone seen or tried this amazing app? What do you think? It's a new app that helps women know how much they are worth so they can charge their future husbands accordingly. But it's all in good fun and not to be taken seriously. The app basically assigns virtual monetary value to women in an attempt to calculate their bride price based on factors such as their level of education, skin colour, nationality, weight, beauty, physical features, accents, country of residence, employment status etc'

We find this app hilarious but apparently not everyone does. A Cosmo writer yesterday described the app as sexist and someone even started a petition asking the app makers to take it down saying that it promotes objectification and misogyny towards women but the guys behind it say its just a joke and should not be perceived as a platform to objectify women. Find their statement below...

The app itself is an aggregation of jokes and stereotypes regarding Brice price in Nigeria. These stereotypes are all jokingly used in various Nigerian cultures and on social media every day.
What the app does is aggregate these collections of jokes in one place, and this is for the purpose of fun and fun only. Admittedly, the satirical content caricatures the popular BridePrice concept popular in Nigeria, and most African countries. It should not be perceived as a platform to objectify woman of any tribe, race or color.

We have taken care that no derogatory, sexually explicit content or offensive language is used on the app. It is also not an attempt to put a price on the true value of a woman.
Below are some screenshots from the app

#CODED-ish Gist:: Seriously!!!, Rick Ross tattoos 'Rich Forever' on his chin

Rapper Rick Ross, who is worth roughly about $30million, shared a pic on his instagram page yesterday showing his new chin tattoo...he tattooed the phrase 'Rich Forever' on his face just below his lower lip...

He's being massively criticized for it with one fan writing "He's not rich enough that he doesn't have to worry about money for the rest of his life. The way he spends it he may be broke soon...the life of a rapper is short lived" but I guess it's a good thing, the tat will remind him for a long time to spend money wisely so he can live up to the phrase on his face. I'm sure he wouldn't want to one day change it to 'Used to be rich!" lol. See another pic below

#CODED-ish Paparazzi:: Pictures Of Kate Middleton's Bare Butt Published in German Newspaper

Source- thedailybeast

German tabloid Bild runs pictures of Kate's bare butt after her skirts were blown up by a helicopter
Well, we have told Kate over and again to get some damn hem weights for her skirts so they don’t blow up in the wind. But would she listen? She would not.

Well, now, of course, the inevitable has happened. A German newspaper has, rather cheekily, decided to run an extremely revealing photograph of Kate Middleton’s apparently bare butt, revealed when a gust of wind blew her flimsy skirt up on tour in Australia.

The Queen, who has lead weights sewn into her dress, would never let such a wardrobe malfunction occur.

The pictures were offered to UK media, who dutifully turned them down.

While publication of the picture by the tabloid newspaper Bild this morning will certainly infuriate William and the palace, it will be unlikely to provoke any attempt at legal action as the picture was taken on an official engagement during Kate’s recent tour of Australia when a gust of wind briefly caught her dress as she boarded a helicopter.

If people inadvertantly flash photographers on public engagements, well, that’s their lookout. There can be no suggestion it was sneaked illegally.

Bild ran the photograph alongside rear-view pictures of Kim and Khloe Kardashian, with the caption: “Khloe, Kim and Kate—butts which have moved us these past few days.”

The publication said, “Photos show our favourite Duchess Kate, 32, in the Australian Blue Mountains. The rotor blades of the royal helicopter swirl the air so that Kate’s summer dress blew up—giving a clear view of her beautiful bum!”

#CODED-ish News:: Churches, Mosques To Start Paying Tax- National Conference Delegates Votes

Delegates at the ongoing National Conference yesterday May 27th voted unanimously for churches & mosques to pay taxes. The delegates arrived at the decision after deliberating on recommendations made by the Committee on Religion.

A delegate representing Civil Organizations, Mallam Naseer Kura, during the deliberation observed that most religious leaders in Nigeria are now making a lot of money from their organizations and so should be taxed accordingly.

Supporting his arguement, Isaac Ighure a delegate representing the Nigeria Guild of Editors, in his submission said most religious leaders had so much money now to buy jets while their followers are living in abject poverty and asked that they should be made to pay taxes. "Some people buy private jets when people in their churches are suffering and living in abject poverty, they should be made to pay taxes,” he said.

The recommendations to pay tax will be submitted to the National Assembly at the end of the conference and if accepted by the National Assembly, it would then be passed into law. Who agrees that religious organizations should pay tax?

#CODED-ish News::Cristiano Ronaldo Gives Aways His £750,000 Champions League Bonus To His friends

Winning the Champions League title against city rivals Atlético Madrid was a dream come true for Portuguese star Cristiano Ronaldo. His record of 17 (!) goals during the tournament secured Real's tenth title.

But Ronaldo didn't score those goals for free. The striker received about 1,23 million Euros in bonuses for his goals and the title. And what does someone like Ronaldo do with this kind of money?

Instead of spending it all on more cars, more houses, more luxuries for himself, he gives it away. At the height of his success the World Player of the Year gives the money to his friends. How did this happen?

A close friend of Ronaldo remembers that Ronaldo once told his physiotherapist that the title would be worth more to him than all the bonus money. The therapist allegedly responded: "Why don't you share the money with us then?"

Ronaldo never hesitated: "OK, if we win the Champions League I will buy each and every one of you a car!"

Whether he will be just as generous if Portugal wins the World Cup is unknown. The Portuguese physiotherapist might be in for something big…

#CODED-ish News::What Nigeria Will Be Like Without Entertainers

They sometimes leave you hanging. Most often, you're rattled and ranting. You occasionally cheer and you're quick to jeer them too.

They bring you smiles and frowns. But, they're worth it.

In the facing of our unending national woes, our entertainers seem to be our only ray of hope. Arguably, they're the only good news coming out from the shores of the most populous black nation on earth.

To the right is Nollywood, and maybe for starters too. Nollywood has grown into amazing world record beaters. From relative obscurity to the world's finest success story. An aside, Nollywood may as well be showing our uninspiring leaders the way to
travel. And it is not hard to see. Granted, Nollywood may be filled with anything but professionalism, it has given the world some of its finest talent in the movie world. From the amiable Genevieve Nnaji, the delectable Omotola Jalade Ekeinde to the refreshing Ramsey Nouah, among others. There's no denying that Nollywood remains one of Nigeria's biggest export.

How about our musical artistes? The amazing exploits of our artistes is indescribable. They've sure given us more than we can contain. Across the continent and beyond, our musical artistes reign. From Cape to Cairo, they're in charge. They headline all continental shows, and the awards never stop pouring in. Arguably, we have some of the continents finest in Tuface Idibia, D'banj, Asa, Wizkid among others. Even more endearing is their conscious music. If only our uninspiring leaders would listen!

Our comedians are not left behind with their ingenuity and creativity; they've devised means to keep us up from our unending woes. Tired of the madness? Attend the comedy show in town! This will soothe you. Today, our comedians are blazing the trail in the continents comedy industry. They're no doubt talented and readily make themselves the butt of their jokes…if that will make you smile. Some of these talents include the revolutionary AliBaba, Basketmouth, I Go Dye, Gordons among others.

We may not be getting the right inspiration from our leaders. But our entertainers are doing their bit.

What will Nigeria be without them?

#CODED-ish Gist: Teacher who defiled minor says one of them made passes at him

A 38 year old nursery school teacher who was arrested yesterday for defiling three minors says he's not to blame so much because one of the minors made passes at him. Olayinka Oluwadare Folarin, (pictured above) took the young girls to the school toilet where he sexually molested them. Speaking during his interrogation yesterday, the paedoaphile said a little girl was the first to make a pass at him
"One of them made advances at me. You know how children play with you in a funny way. This thing is beyond me.” he said
Mr Folarin, who has been arrested before for molesting children, said he believes he's under some demonic attack that pushes him to commit the act and so shouldn't be judged
"I have been doing this for a long time. I feel terribly bad each time I did it but I could not stop it. Why don’t you find a way of helping me. Is this meant to expose me? Some people should just think and reason with me. The person who has not sinned before should cast the first stone. If God did not forsake some people, I know he would not forsake me. I am a changed person now.”
On how he carried out his evil act, Folarin said he would invite the little girls into the toilet, place them on the wash hand basin, lubricate their vagina with his hair cream, fondle them but says he never penetrated them with his manhood, a claim the police is refuting because medical examination on the little girls show their hymen was not intact.
"I never penetrated them. I only used my manhood to rub their private parts. Yes, I used my hair cream to lubricate my organ to stimulate myself.”.
Oyo state Police Public Relations Officer, SP Olabisi Okuwobi‑Ilobanafor while confirming the incident said:
“The suspect had engaged in multiple defilement and all the victims said the same thing that he always abused them twice a week since last year. The third girl was lured by the suspect to cover his illicit affairs. The third girl he abused saw a note he wrote to one of the two girls when she was sweeping the floor and asked what was happening. The teacher then collected the paper; for fear of being exposed, he recruited her into the group" she said
Due to the seriousness of his crime, Folarin would be transferred to the state Police headquarters where further investigations would be carried out.

#CODED-ish News: The only Nigerian journalist with access to Boko Haram flown home to negotiate with group

Nigerian journalist, Ahmad Salkida, who previously worked for Daily Trust and Premium Times and reported extensively on Boko Haram, fled Nigeria to Dubai 2 years ago after being accused of being a Boko Haram sympathizer. He said he fled after 'his life and that of his family became endangered' after security agencies began to mistake his in-depth reporting on the terrorist group as evidence of his closeness to them. He went underground for several weeks before finally fleeing Nigeria. Salkida was perhaps the only Nigerian journalist/civilian to have access to Boko Haram, and he said at the time that he'd turned down Boko Haram's many requests for him to publish exclusive interviews and materials for them.

Anyway according to new reports, the Nigerian government flew him back home a few weeks ago to negotiate with Boko Haram on their behalf, since he's the only civilian who has allegedly seen Boko Haram leader Abubakar Shekau and come out alive. He reportedly came back home after the Nigerian government assured him that he will not be arrested. (See his tweets).

From UK Daily Mail
  • One hundred non-combatant, low-level sympathisers were to be freed and the two groups brought together in a convoy of buses accompanied by a hand-picked go-between, respected Nigerian journalist Ahmad Salkida.
  • The plan had been agreed in tortuous negotiations in response to worldwide outrage over a night-time raid on a school in the town of Chibok on April 14 when the girls were abducted from their dormitories.
  • Mr Salkida was born in Borno State, where Boko Haram originated. He has known its leaders all his life and has unprecedented access.
  • He has been arrested on several occasions accused of being a Boko Haram sympathiser, and he fled with his family to Dubai two years ago.
  • But two weeks ago, he was summoned out of exile by President Jonathan’s aides. He initially feared he might face arrest, but was then given a letter of indemnity signed by the President when he flew to Nigeria.
  • Sources said Mr Salkida was able to travel by taxi to the group’s forest camp to talk to Shekau two weeks ago. ‘His mission was secretive and dangerous,’ they said.
  • He is probably the only civilian with access to Shekau. There is trust between them and Salkida had only one aim – to get the schoolgirls out.
  • He reported afterwards that the group of girls he saw were alive and well, and being adequately fed and sheltered. They told him all they wanted was to go home.
  • Salkida’s mission was complicated by the chaos surrounding government’s pronouncements about negotiations with the terrorist group.
  • Shekau has released two shocking videos showing the girls dressed in hijabs and reciting verses from the Koran.

#Article: WHEN WILL THEY STOP DECEIVING US THAT WE ARE THE LEADERS OF TOMORROW?

Few days ago, I saw some children playing, they were having real fun singing songs they were taught in their schools. One of the greatest songs they sang which obviously everyone sang as a child was:
"Pa-rents, listen to your children
We are the leaders of tomorrow
Try to pay our school fees
And give us sound education."

Initially, I was enjoying their gathering as I really love to watch kids play not until they started singing the above song so passionately with all of their might....We all know how kids sing a song they really love....they sing on top of their voices, jumping and dancing like the way Arsenal fans danced when they won the FA cup (Up Gunners).

Anyway, these kids were simply happy calling themselves the 'leaders of tomorrow'. And I felt pity for them, for they knew not what they were singing.

Many of us sang this song when we were young, either to make our parents pay our school fees or just for fun, whichever way. But, have you realized that; this same 'US' are yet to become the 'leader of that tomorrow' which we are eventually living now. Abi, if the tomorrow is not NOW, when is it? And how we wan take lead sef? When our fathers and mothers have not yet been given the opportunity to lead. In other words, our grandparents have refused to leave the position of power. They prefer to die there and even after their deaths, they still want to be ruling, receiving salaries and allowances.....GOSH!!!

Back to my story; Annoyingly, I left the children as they wouldn't stop singing the song and they were already getting on my nerves. I wanted to shout at them to stop and sing another song. But they have chosen to keep enjoying the song as they even danced round holding each other's hands. I went home and as I entered through the gate of my father's house, my father was the first person I saw. The look on his face wasn't encouraging at all. I greeted him and walked past him, feeling pity for him also. He too sang that song as a kid to deceive his father into paying his school fees promising him that he'd be a leader of his tomorrow. But unfortunately, as a politician, his elders in the game keep telling him that he's still young to attain a position in the state level. At age 54?

But wait! Maybe, we are the ones who have mistaken the 'Leaders of Tomorrow' they call us to be something else. Because I just can't phantom why at age 65, some men will be leading us in this country. And dem go kan dey in JUST THAT ONE POSITION for 8 solid years. After that, they'll move on to contest for another position and be there for another 8 good years and by the time they are 80, the President as at that time will make them Ministers and Special Advisers. HABA! E de beru Olorun - don't you have the fear of God in you?

Imagine, dem pack our grandpas and grandmas (that are supposed to be in their various homes enjoying old age) as delegates to the National CONFAB. Because those ones are old and cannot stand sitting for long hours deceiving themselves (not ME in particular) that they are discussing national issues, dem begin dey drop one by one. Some sef dey sleep and some others play Scramble. After all, N12million is sure for each of them.

Now with all of these, when will we (youths) now be the leaders of the tomorrow they have been calling us? Abi the tomorrow never reach? Is it until we also clock 60 years? When we will not be able to think straight and come up with great ideas to improve the nation just like them?

Don't even worry yourself anymore, we sef don't want to be any leader of tomorrow again....As far as I'm concerned, I'm dead tired of being a leader of one tomorrow that has refused to show up. All we need now is 'an environment where jobs/vacancies will be massive'. We need good jobs! It's as simple as it sounds.

We cannot become entrepreneurs because there is no capital to even begin on a small scale. Besides that, the schools we went to, we were not taught to become entrepreneurs, the system brought us up to work as managers in big offices. My friends that became graduates 4 years ago never see one small office to work talk less of a big office.

Before I finally decided to pursue a degree (after 4 years since I graduated from the Polytechnic), the great number of jobless graduates I see on the streets and the rate of applications we received everyday where I worked as an IT student scared me a lot. Now, I'm a fresh student of a State University hoping to graduate in 4 years time (that is if there are no periods of strike or delay whatsoever) and I don't even know how many years me too will spend at home before I find a job as a teacher in one nursery and primary school, at least to start with. [God forbid, anyway]

The simple message I'm here to convey to anyone who cares to know is: There is need for more jobs to be created. Not everyone will be an entrepreneur as most people say 'if you can't find a job, create one for yourself'. If everyone is a job creator, who go kan dey work for us?

Our leaders should stop calling us the leaders of tomorrow. Biko, get us good jobs and leave the rest for us. We will work our way to the top. Shikena!

The Charming Humble Nice Guy won't say more than this.
