Glo Allegedly Dropped Kunle Afolayan As Ambassador Because Of Saka
Kunle Afoloyan, a prolific movie director and actor was dropped as a Glo ambassador few months back because of Saka. Yes, Saka the actor and new MTN ambassador. Real name Hafiz Oyetoro.
According to what was gathered, Kunle Afolayan was allegedly booted out when Globacom found out that one of the main characters in his Phone Swap movie (which was sponsored by Globacom) was Saka, an Etisalat face for many of their brands, at the time. (Before he ported to MTN )
Prior to him being dropped as an ambassador, Kunle Afolayan had a smooth relationship with the company and did not go against any terms in his contract and was really shocked at his termination.
Thing is, Kunle had been working on his movie long before he was approached to be a Glo ambassador.
Globacom sponsored the movie and when it eventually came out and they saw Saka in it, that was it!.Serious "beefing"
Three Killed In Cross River Community Clash

At least three people were yesterday killed in a communal clash involving two communities in Cross River State.
It was gathered that trouble started when Inyima community in Yakurr Local Government Area of the state was allegedly invaded by her neighbours, Adun community, in Obubra Local Government Area also of Cross River State.
The invasion, which was carried out by armed men suspected to have come from Adun village destroyed over 300 houses, displacing about 5, 000 persons, including women and children.
The attack was alleged to have been masterminded by aggrieved youths who claimed that a man from Inyima community had stolen cassava tubers from a farm belonging to an Adun man.
Though he was subsequently arrested by the police; youths in the village were not satisfied and felt that Inyima people had undermined their “superiority” to dare them.
National Mirror correspondent who visited the community about 200 kilometres from Calabar, reports that the community was in ruins as almost every residential building was either burnt or demolished.

Nigerian girl strangled and killed in Italy – VIDEO
A Nigerian woman of about 30 years old was found dead in the industrial area between Aversa and Gricignano, near the bicycle factory Morris. The body was naked and without documents.
It is not yet clear of exactly what happened to her but it appears to be a murder. At first glance, the corpse did not show visible traces of violence or injuries from sharp weapons or firearms.

The convict allegedly murdered his wife on October 12, 2009 at Azumini Ndoki in the Ukwa Judicial Division of Abia.
The charge read, “The accused person is charged with one-count of murder contrary to Section 319 (1) of the Criminal Code Vol. 11, Cap. 30 Laws of Eastern Nigeria, 1963, applicable in Abia State.”
Until her death, Theodora was an employee of Guaranty Trust Bank Plc. The legal battle between the deceased’s family and the accused began soon after the alleged killing until the judgment recently.
The Presiding Judge, Justice T.U. Uzokwe, said in his judgment that having heard from the accused person, learned counsel for the accused and the prosecuting counsel, the offence carried a mandatory sentence which is death.

A TEENAGER claims she was turned away from her high school prom because her "oranges" are too big.
Brittany Minder had spent months looking forward to the end-of-term dance at Central Kitsap High School in Washington State.
The 18-year-old even traveled to Canada to find her dream dress for the posh do.
But when she arrived at the prom, staff refused to let her in, claiming Brittany's purple frock showed off too much cleavage.
Nigerian cab driver shot dead in Washington DC

57 year old cab driver Solomon James Okoroh (pictured above) was shot dead around 3am yesterday morning Tuesday June 4th in the 2400 block of Ontario Road, Adams Morgan, by two men who tried to rob him while riding in his cab, according to DC police.
The murder of Okoroh unfolded right in front of police, who took off after the suspects and chased them down under heavy gunfire.
Police say Solomon Okoroh was murdered around 3:15 a.m. Tuesday after picking up two men in his cab. Officers working a robbery detail in the neighborhood saw the cab in distress and then heard the gunshot before it crashed into a sign and parking meter near Ontario and Kalorama Roads.
The two suspects bailed out and got into a running gun battle with officers. Police caught one of them in the street, but the other tried to hide in a nearby apartment.
18-year-old Girl Electrocuted by PHCN Cable in Edo State
The deceased, identified as Iyogosa Godsday, was reportedly hit by PHCN high tension wire while trying put on line, clothes she hadwashed, after a downpour the same day.
It was gathered that people ran helter-skelter when the high tension cable fell, while several household electrical appliances were destroyed.
According to an eyewitness, Adubuka Ehimen, the deceased came out after the rains and was trying to spread clothes on a line, few meters from the house, when suddenly she was hit by the huge tension wire and died.

Paris Jackson was rushed to the hospital early Wednesday morning, and sources tell us it was a suicide attempt. Paris was taken out of her Calabasas family house on a stretcher at around 2 AM and taken by ambulance to a nearby hospital. The 911 call came in at 1:27 AM. We're told the caller reported a possible overdose, although a source connected to the emergency response said there were multiple cuts on one of her wrists.On Tuesday night ... Ajimobi summons 15 school heads over improper dressing of pupils.
Oyo State Governor Isiaq Abiola Ajimobi has summoned heads of 15 schools which participated in Children’s Day march pass over improper dressing of their pupils. Shortly after taking salute at the Children’s Day parade, which featured primary and secondary schools at the Lekan Salami Sports Complex, Adamasingba, Ibadan, the governor indicted the headship of the schools for the appearance of their pupils which he said was below standard.
Governor Ajimobi said that he took particular notice of the affected schools, comprising 11 nursery/primary schools and four secondary schools, while they marched past him, saying that the dressing of the pupils was unacceptable.
He observed that while some of the children put on torn clothes, others appeared dirty and unkempt, and their shoes did not match their uniforms.

They have also demanded that the university pay each medical student N10 million each in compensation for the "torture" of attending school for nearly a decade without accreditation.
The peaceful protest prompted the cancellation of examinations set for thousands of distance-learning students.

Man arrested for illegally transmitting DSTV signals to 500 homes
Obot was arrested in Ikot Ekpene, Akwa Ibom State after illegally installing the DSTV signals to homes for N5,000 charging N1,000 per month as subscription fee.
Uyo Liaison Officer, NCC, Mr. Amudipe Charles, who represented the Director-General, NCC, Mr. Afam Ezekude, told journalists in Uyo on Monday that Obot was arrested with the equipment he used to transmit the cable television signals illegally.

The Israeli military disciplined a group of female soldiers who posed for photos in underwear and combat gear and posted the images on Facebook.
The incident was the latest in a string of episodes involving young Israeli soldiers on social media that have drawn reprimand from the military. The women were new recruits stationed on a base in southern Israel.
The soldiers removed their pecked uniforms to expose their underwear and back sides.
Another photo shows five women posed in what appeared to be a barracks room, dressed only in helmets and a small amount of combat equipment.

US places $23m reward for Boko Haram leader, Shekau, 4 others
The highest reward of $7 million is offered for the Boko Haram leader Abubakar Shekau, who last week called on Islamists in Afghanistan, Pakistan and Iraq to join the bloody fight to create an Islamic state in Nigeria.
The US State Department’s Rewards for Justice program also targeted Al-Qaeda in the Islamic Maghreb (AQIM), offering its first ever bounties for wanted militants in west Africa.
Oprah faces lawsuit over wrong choice of magazine title
Oprah Winfrey will have to defend in court her use of the phrase "Own Your Power" in her magazine and on her website, a U.S. appeals court said on Friday.
Overturning a lower court ruling, the 2nd Circuit U.S. Court of Appeals revived claims brought by Simone Kelly-Brown, owner of a motivational services business, Own Your Power Communications Inc, who says she owns a trademark on the phrase.
The case should go forward, the appeals court said, because it was possible Winfrey was "attempting to build a new segment of her media empire" around the phrase "Own Your Power."
